Dovetail: Dovetail is the most common kind of connection that you will see on airguns, hunting and sproting rifles. Usually only for scope mounts.

Weaver: Weaver is the common on airsoft and tactical style weaponry. Considered the king of accessories because you are able to connect scope, risers, bipods, laser, flashlight, you name it with ease.

Keep in mind that dovetail and weaver mounts are not interchangeable and that you are able to make the right decision so you get what will work for you.
