Quiet. Try dry-firing it (with no pellet aboard) --- it sounds like a cross between a ballpoint pen and a rubber ball bouncing. You'll think it malfunctioned. It didn't.
Accurate. once properly set up and tuned, 30-yard groups of 10 shots (off a benchrest) can fit inside a 3/8" circle. Really.
Pellets. I favor Crosman Pointed Hunting, JSB Jumbo, and Predator Polymags. The Crosmans gave me the group mentioned. The Predators are right behind, and are the most weirdly-effective airgun ammo I've ever seen. (Not for amateurs or "silly" people: you absolutely CAN modify a Marauder magazine to hold 10 Predators. It involves lathe-turning a channel into the clear mag cover. If you can't visualize the exact setup I'm talking about, don't even think of trying it!!! Mine has been running jam-free for hundreds of rounds. Be gentle with your gear!)
Heavy. it is.
Capacity. I put 3000psi from a SCUBA tank in and get 40 consistent shots easily. I have chrony data somewhere. Ona 100' x 100' property, plenty of tuned shots. (Note that your accuracy may be better at, say, 800fps than 950fps. It won't matter to a sheet of paper, and it won't matter to a "pest," either. Just have your ballistics and your optics straight. You don't need to blow a whole bunch of extra air out on each shot. If you're serious about this stuff --- and this is a very serious gun (well, all guns are) --- then buy, beg, borrow, or steal a chrony and check muzzle velocities at various settings. Check terminal velocities at your intended ranges. Set up for that, and get a ton of shots at effective energy levels.)
Uses. Use your imagination. It's an amazing target piece. It also helps in preserving garden integrity.
Pros:Darned near everything. Seriously. Would I recommend it? I would practically force a friend to buy it, "at gunpoint," if necessary. :) The machined scope grooves make for a beautiful experience. (I'd prefer standard Picatinny, but not much of an issue.Cons:The factory magazine doesn't accept "long" loads like Predators. I own a mini-lathe. This problem no longer affects me. :) I'd like a detent in the bolt-back position. It's troublesome when the bolt gets nudged and a pellet gets chambered before you want it there. |

I bought this to take in my stand with me when I am pig hunting as there are a lot of birds and squirrels in my area.
After sighting this gun in I have to say it is just a fantastic piece.
Puts dinner on the table with no problem.

Super Accurate Quiet Marauder!!
November 4, 2012
![]()
First thing that I must say is nice job Crosman on the design, fit and finish, and overall quality of this air rifle. After reading the many reviews at this website and on youtube, I decided to buy a Marauder in .177 and ditch my springer.
This gun is very, very quiet compared to my springer air rifle. You will only get a "thoing" sound when firing this air rifle, and I've also heard the "thwack" of the pellet hitting the game after taking the shot. You do not have to worry about noise with this gun, it is super quiet.
The fit and finish is excellent. The checkering of the hardwood stock is evenly done, in a matte finish. Very good quality finish. You also get a match grade trigger with this gun...it is a pleasure to shoot!
This is by far the most accurate gun I have fired in my life (either air or powder)! From a rest at 40 yards I can consistently get hit a paintball, quarter, or shotgun shell with Crosman Premier Hollowpoints. Today from 53 yards out, a squirrel dropped instantly from a head shot after squeezing off a shot from this awesome rifle. (The scope that is presently on it is a Centerpoint 4-16X40, a $70 scope from Wal-Mart).
Dollar for dollar..this is by far the most air rifle you will get for your money. It has exceeded my expectations in quality, it is super quiet, and the match-grade trigger make it a pleasure to shoot.
One last thing about this review, I contacted Crosman directly one afternoon in the middle of the day. The customer service was done with a live human, that spoke good English, and they did not put my on hold...good job Crosman!
Pros:Every feature about this rifle is a plus, without doubt or question. My next airgun purchase is this one in .22 cal, I own .177 now. Would you recommend this item to a friend? Absolutely...! TO ALL THE PEOPLE OUT THERE THINKING ABOUT PURCHASING THIS RIFLE...buy it! I curse at the $100 I paid for my junk springer! |

Very Quiet
January 31, 2011
![]()
Extremely quiet. So much so that the pellet hitting the game can sound louder than the shot.
Feels very heavy, but not a problem for a man or strong woman. Substantially heavier than the Discovery. Much higher-quality than the Discovery. 3000psi v.s. 2000psi; adjustable trigger; more wood and nicer looking.
The 10-shot magazine is very nice. Poorly made out of plastic and a weak, poorly-attached spring, but works well while the spring holds, with no jams so far.
It's not apparent whether it's cocked or not. So short of pulling the trigger, one can try cocking it again. But this chambers another round. If a pellet is already in the chamber, this second one gets stuck behind the first and will not push forward enough to allow the bolt to close. No way to get it out other than dangerously hold the bolt against the 2nd pellet and fire the gun. The shot# indicator is great. But there needs to be a "cocked" indicator, since cocking it again also attempts to chamber another round (because of the way the 10-round magazine works).
Accuracy at 25 yds seems to be 1/4". More testing needed...

After 20 Clips - Even Better!!!
April 3, 2010
![]()
Ok, so I have spent a good bit of time shooting this Marauder and it just keeps getting better and even more fun!
Took me only about 10 minutes to sight it in. And as I said in my other review I also have a Gamo Whisper with Air Ventury Gas Ram, which is now up for sale :). I bought it to get the rabbits out of my yard but after nicking two of them, due to inaccurate shots, and feeling so bad about it I went on the hunt, so to speak :), for the ultimate rabbit getter. Boy did I find it with the Marauder.
By the way this thing is soooo quiet as well.
Off the charts!! 20 - 30 yards I am taking rabbits out on the first shot, humanely and swiftly - just behind the eye and under the ear. Aim, hold lightly, shoot, gone. Love it.
Also, I am using a RedHead Bench Shooting Bag. If you are like me and don't have time to sit around and practice shooting, make sure to get one or something similar. They are great and increase your accuracy multi-fold.
The other great thing is I can setup on my deck and get rabbits anywhere throughout my back yard, which is about a quarter acre. With the Gamo Whisper I couldn't do that.
The Benjamin Marauder, to me, is the ultimate airgun!!

The Ultimate Airgun!!!!
April 1, 2010
![]()
Alright, this thing is unbelievable. There is nothing more to say. I have a Gamo Whisper with the Air Ventury Gas Ram and compared to the Marauder it is child's play. Do not waste your money on anything else just step up to the plate and buy the Marauder. This thing is so fun to shoot and so accurate. It is the first time I have ever put a pellet inside the whole of the previous and my groupings were super tight. The 10 shot clip is the way to go - get 4 extra so you can load them up, wash your hands and be done for the day. Highly recommended.

Exceed Expectations
September 9, 2009
![]()
Fantastic! From a bench rest at 30 yards I can consistently get 5/16" groups with Crosman pointed/Copperheads (RWS doesn't seem to do quite so well, which surprised me). More tuning, maybe. I can't argue with the 30-yard groups. Who would? A word to the wise: Use a sturdy backstop. It's easy to simply drill through wood by placing pellets on top of each other --- which is weirdly easy.
This gun is quiet. After shooting the Marauder my springer (a Gamo Big Cat) sounds like a train wreck. Pretty much all you get from the Marauder sound-wise is a "boing" from the hammer spring and a "thwack" at the target end. But that's the nature of the two beasts.
The result is that the springer now carries an old red dot --- at 40 feet it'll hit a quarter with a 4 MOA dot. This has become the "close quarters" gun. The Marauder is more like a field rifle --- substantial, powerful, and a great fixed-position piece. Truly great.
Put decent optics on it --- it'll stand up to them. A bipod or sticks are a good idea. Oh, and a 1907-style sling.

If you appreciate fine, accurate well made rifles or pistols and are looking to buy an air rifle this is the one for you. I put a .22 rimfire Nikon scope on its grooved receiver. Since there is no piston recoil there is no problem with damaging the scope. 30 yard 5 shot groups from a rest produced

I have the .22 version. It is a very quiet rifle.Out of the box, using JSB Diablo Exact 15.3 gr, the grouping was horrible at 30 yrds. After some gross adjustments with the hammer spring, hammer stroke and velocity the grouping is 100% better (approx 1.2" group). Will see if finer adjustment can improve its accuracy. Did I say it is very quiet?

# 123 Arrived Today
June 3, 2009
![]()
The trigger was fast, I am impressed, 10 shots virtually in the same hole at 20 yards with the 14 grain pellets. The scope I ordered for it is awsome.
I have the Discovery in a 177, and now the Marauder in the 22 caliber. I have only used 2000 lbs pressure on this gun and I dont think it needs more. It hit hard, and I can shot it all the way down to 1100 lbs pressure, with the same accuracy.
I shot it through a 177 cablier Crosman pellet can and it was easy with this gun. The pelet on the can didnt stand a chance I hit it every time.
This gun will be the one that brings crossman out in the open,.
I'm not downing my Discovery, I love it too. I can't trade one for the other. But the trigger on this Marauder is fast and it leaves you no chance of pulliing off . Good Job Folks. This is a keeper. I'm leaving it charged tonight on 1900 lbs and tomarrow I'll shoot be another round but this gun has no problems that I can see of right now.

I get about 20 shots or two clips. I start with the pressure around 2500 pounds and at the end of 20 shots its around 1500 pounds. You can tell the velocity is down but I don't know how much. The rifle is still accurate at 1500 pounds.By Rowdy from Orange, TX on January 11, 2012
Answer:
Around 40 shots per fill. (@3000 psi)20 of those shots being really powerful and extremely accurate.
Once you get closer to 2000 psi, the velocity drops off rapidly.

Answer:
Bear in mind that you will have to "bridge the gap" over the magazine receiver. This can make things a little complicated with very short optics, or may require two "shorty" Picatinny adapters.I use a singl Picatinny adapter rail, which I strongly recommend as this only adds only a little height and allows a pretty full range of mounting options. You may need to file the "hanging" end of the adapter a bit --- well worth the trouble, IMHO. Again, the spacing available on your scope tube may be a factor. (If this question pops up again I'll take the dimensions i have and post them.)
I had a spare set of Warne QD rings, so they live on the Marauder. Yes, they are a bit heavy. Yes, they are a bit pricey. But --- they come off and go back on with absolute bench-vise durability and repeatability. Sometimes (not often) I switch out to a Bushnell Trophy red dot. (I have a final setup target with a single half-inch hole --- 10 shots, from 50 feet.)
I've been using a Leapers 3-12x44 Mini AO with absolutely stunning success from yards out to 35 yards. The Hated Rodents are stunned, too. (The elevation turret range and AO make the mounting height moot, if you know your clicks. I use a Patent Pending device that snaps to specific ranges, so the height makes no difference and a 15-fot shot is as fast and the same as a ninety-foot shot.

Do yourself a HUGE favor and get a SCUBA tank and adapter! Tank fills are cheap and a full tank (3000psi) lasted close to a year (lower 1200psi fills toward end) ... and it was used a lot. Many, many fewer "garden problems" --- if I offered a number it'd sound like nonsense. Fill time = 30 seconds, including hookup ... as opposed to many, many, many back-breaking minutes with the pump.
