The Steel Eagle is a breakbarrel with “hunting airgun” written all over it. Bearing the name of famed professional hunter and big game outfitter Jim Shockey, this airgun is destined for greatness on the range or trail. Built to hunt, the Steel Eagle features integrated sling mounts and an all-weather stock for carrying in all seasons. The newly added integrated sound-suppression system will ensure you can take quiet follow up shots while in the field.

With Crosman’s Nitro Piston 2 Technology this rifle will really send those pellets screaming downrange! The Eagle can send .177 alloy rounds to your target at 1400fps (1200 in lead) and deliver 23 fpe when it gets there (26 fpe in .22). With so much power, the Steel Eagle always hits fast and hard—ideal for small game and trigger time at the range. Simply mount your included 3-9x32mm CenterPoint scope to the Weaver/Picatinny rail, and get ready to blast away!

Owned this rifle for about a year now. Put about 10-15 thousand rounds through it. Needs no maintenance, run a bore snake through it when changing pellet brands. Dropped it several times didnt do a thing, gun is solid. The noise and cocking effort decreases significantly after 2-3k rounds (yes it takes that many) Love the weaver rail. Mine likes the JSB 14-18 grain an Crosman magnum an Hollowpoint 14.3gr, also Benjamin pcp 14.3 hollowpoints basically anything domed shape. Sadly like most benjamins this comes with no open sights. I miss shooting this thing, its just I can no longer afford replacing scope after scope. Ive yet to see a good quality scope that can take a beating from these break barrel airguns. Just some advice for anyone new to this if you plan on buying anything with a spring or gas piston make sure it has open sights/iron sights.

Pros
Solid build, awesome silencer (easy to clean). Tack driver hits hard. Equipped with swivels for a sling. Weaver rail.

Cons
No open sights. Heavy trigger. Hard buttpad. Barrel droop is amazing.

I bought this air rifle about 6 months ago from Cabela's. The build quality is very nice and sturdy. A little on the heavy side but very stable. I do recommend using a different scope because the one it comes with isn't the best quality and I found it little harder to zero in. My favorite feature is how it shoots so quiet compared to my other air rifles. Great for living with only 1 acre and with neighbors around.

Pros
Sturdy and well made gun. Shoots and accurate and packs a punch also surprisingly quiet.

Cons
Bad scope and a little hard to cock. Trigger wasn't the best

I bought this Steel Eagle Benjamin for two reasons, #1 Because I used to own a Crosman/Benjamin years ago as a kid, and it was a mainstay airgun throughout my childhood before the firearm stage, and I figured the new Steel eagle would be as dependable, well made and accurate as my old childhood airgun. 2nd reason was I figured if a well known hunter as Jim Shockey endorsed this Eagle with his name it would have to be a good airgun. Well the one I got was a disaster! Right out of the box, I noticed a cracked up receiver but end, then I noticed the barrel had a crack in the critical location where it screws into the receiver. It did not stop at that, I installed the scope to find this gun had a drastically drooped barrel unable to adjust the scope low enough for point of impact. Grouping was awful at only 20 yards printing all over a paper plate while shooting from a bench. After 230 Crosman premier dome pellets the gun was no closer to consistency in any group smaller that 3 inches. I contacted Crosman/Benjamin and spoke to a rep, he sent me a new receiver butt piece to replace the damaged one, but indicated the gun would need to be sent back for a replacement barrel and to check the barrel droop situation. At this point I was not happy so contacted Airgun Depot and without further hassel was issued a return postal label, and when they received the gun, I was awarded a full refund. I do not recommend the Jim Shockey Steel Eagle, but do highly recommend buyers to shop with Airgun Depot, they are the top retailers in my book and care about their customers.

Pros
The gun barrel cocking action was smooth and easy. The gun was nice looking and comfortable to hold with good balance.

Cons
Not well made, cheap plastic parts, not accurate, not at all as powerful as claims by factory. The barrels should be checked at the factory for barrel droop.

This gun was and still is very accurate.. TRouble is they over-rated the power and I was getting about 900 FPS for first couple hundred shots.. I noticed the power had dropped off and so I did another chrony test and with the 14.3 premiers I got a low of 742 and a high of 752... and 698 with the H&N terminators 16,36grains.. that is substantially lower than normal.. Still shoots incredibly accurate..

Pros
accurate shooter

Cons
doesn't live up to power hype.

Pros

Cons

This gun is very well made. Some of the review's are so so. Very accurate and powerful , great balance. The review's are only 3-4 stars because of the trigger. Put the charlie the tuna CBR trigger in the gun and you will eliminate trigger jerk .Turns the gun into 1and a half pound trigger pull. You will shoot the bullseye out at 30 yards

Pros
Great stalk well balanced gun.

Cons
Just have to put a charlie the tuna trigger in turns into a five star gun

I'd have loved buying this air rifle from Airgun Depot, but their "policy" of not price matching (which they then changed after I'd already bought from Cabela's) means I bought the gun elsewhere. We're talking $200 vs $150 and they expected me to just eat the difference. Will NEVER do business with Airgun Depot again! Having said that, the gun is great so far ~50 rounds through it, works fine, easy to zero, the glass could be better, but at this price I'm not complaining at all.

Pros
I bought the gun I wanted.

Cons
I had the misfortune of dealing with Airgun Depot. Have i mentioned that they suck?!?

I am from India I want to buy this gun, In India, there are certain restrictions on the import of such gun, Can some body tell me the exact power of this gun in Joules ?

asked Anand from USA

Is this a back yard friendly gun in reference to loudness?

asked Clifford Williams

This is a weapon. This is not your grandfather's Red Ryder Daisy BB gun. This thing will blow through a 2x6 as if the 2x6 didn't even exist.

William J. Stewart

Bought this rifle on sale from another company and I am not happy with all I have had to do just to make my rifle shoot good. But the question remains is it back yard friendly? It depends on your neighbors, if they watch TV or have a radio on most of the time they probably will never hear it. You will need a good back stop to keep the pellet from going through to what is behind your target. Using a 14 Grain or heavier pellet will keep the pellet speed down below the speed of sound so there is no real loud CRACK. The alloy pellets will break the sound barrier and it can be loud. This is a good quality air rifle and not a toy for children, check your local ordinances to see if you can do this in your back yard. It would be a shame to spend money on a air rifle and have it taken away along with getting a ticket to go and pay more on. I hope this has answered your question.

Jerry

It's fairly quiet, I have had no problems shooting in the back yard, but where I shoot isnt' a visible area. If anyone hears something, they still don't know what the noise it is. They play music loud enough they'd have little room to complain about noise.

Mike from USA

Yes.

Tom from USA

Yes, is backyard friendly. To increase my accuracy I purchased a wider trigger shoe and now it on the dot at 50 yds. The scope Center point that it comes with did the job but I upgrade it to a better one a 30mm scope and Now this air rifle It's much better during plinking or pest control. I do really like this air rifle. Even do, I do have 3 PCP's rifles. I wish it could be a little more lighter in weight. Overall it's a very good rifle. It's a keeper.

Alberto from USA

I found it to be pretty quiet. Neighbors haven't seemed to notice even though I've shot well over 100 rounds in a neighborhood. We have 6' tall rock walls surrounding the area I shoot in...these plus the addition of a large thick backstop seem to assure no problems. Half of the "problems" with backyard shooting is one (liberal type) who moisens their knickers just seeing a "gun".

Mike

Yes, this gun is extremely quiet. If somebody was sleeping or watching tv, you'd have to be right next to there window or door for them to hear it go off.

Andrew

Yes it is. I have a 25yrd. shooting range in my backyard and shoot almost daily. I live in a large city in a typical neighborhood and nobody has ever complained of any loud shooting. In fact, they don't even realize that I do any airgun target shooting on a daily basis. Good Luck.

Frank

Says 2 - Low-Medium in specs so I would imagine so, although I do not have first-hand knowledge of the loudness. However, I do know that a 2 is considered extremely quiet. I usually research videos if I don't get an answer within a reasonable amount of time; actually I usually watch videos on airguns of interest regardless. Sorry I couldn't be more help, but I know how it feels when no one answers my questions, it can be frustrating. One would think Airgun Depot would jump in if no one else does!! Good luck!

Gary from USA

I think that almost every air rifle is back yard friendly if it is around normal air rifle noise.. It just depends where you live and how much tolerant your neighbors are.. + Its not like you are drilling into a concrete the whole day

Peter from USA
