This was the first Smith and Wesson blank firing pistol. The S&W Chiefs Special can be fired either double- or single-action. Its cylinder swings out for easy loading and ejecting. This blank firing pistol will hold and fire 5 blanks with all the sound and fury of a firearm. This Smith & Wesson blank firing revolver is authentically made with the quality you expect from a S&W. Compact in size, this blank firing starter pistol works great for dog training, theatrical performances, stage props, gun safety handling, or as a show piece for gun collectors. This Chiefs Special s fires 9 mm RK blank cartridges. Its barrel is permanently blocked and the fired gases escape through a vent in the top of the pistol. The Chief's Special S comes in a foam lined case and is available in either black or nickel with black grips.

This is a wonderful reproduction of this classic revolver. The finish and construction of this gun is outstanding!
Pros:Finish is very close to the real weapon. Ejects spent casings like real weapon. Has the feel of the real steel. All metal construction.Cons:None |

I am a Track & Field Starter working at over 30 events a year, and recently I had to replace 2 worn-out 39 year-old .32 caliber starter pistols.
To my amazement, most of the starter pistols being produced now in .32 caliber are cheap junk. When I saw this Umarex S&W licensed replica, I figured it had to be of high quality in order to have S&W engraved on it. I was correct in my judgment.
The pistol is sturdy, incredibly easy to load and keep clean, and the report of the Umarex 9mm blanks is at a good pitch and loud enough to be heard equally by all competitors on a 3-turn stagger start. The handheld timers that were working also reported that the smoke was clearly visible from a distance as well.
The best part is that the Umarex 9mm blanks are extremely reliable and are being sold at a price substantially less expensive than the standard .32 caliber blanks mass-marketed for this function.
This past Saturday I fired the pistol on 88 starts in a steady rain- all with great results. With a dry towel during the meet and a quick cleaning after, the pistol was like new and sparkling when I stowed it away.
For those starters who need to replace open-barrel pistols for high school events as required by the new rules, I highly recommend this pistol!
