I own now several Co2 pistols that shoot BBs and a few that shoot pellets from the Umarex 8 round rotary mags. I am one that seeks realism when selecting a Co2 replica pistol. This Walther CP88 in its nickel finish is my all around best detailed and best quality finished airgun pistol...it is a jewel. This model of Co2 pistol has been around for several years and was one of the original offerings that Umarex marketed when they started selling Walther replica airguns. Like a lot of things that were built to last by the Germans...this airgun stands out from the rest in by book. The other airguns I own have conventional black frames. So when I decided I would like to get something different with a 'fancy' nickel like appearance my choice stopped at the Walther CP88. I have not regretted the purchase I made a month ago from AirgunDepot.com. I was amazed at the accuracy I got straight out of the box(actually plastic carrying case). At 10M I was getting one inch groups from a rested position!! OMG I was really pleased to see that even if this airgun cost more...it was worth it at that moment. You should get an extra set of rotary magazines and put the best quality domed or flat head pellets in this pistol and make sure the pellets are well seated in the magazine prior to loading. I have found that RWS and H&N pellets are the best performers for consistent shot placement if that is what you want to achieve with this airgun. Get one... it is awesome.

Pros
Everything on the pistol.

Cons
The nickel finish has a gold tone hue which is not apparent from the illustrated pictures. Not displeasing however.

Looks and feels great. Almost all metal, just plastic grips and sights. Shoots very well. Comes in a very nice plastic case. Don't recommend using the included hex key to adjust sight, it is a cheap nickel plated one, use a real carbon steel one so you don't mess up the bolt. Operation of trigger is smooth. Worth the extra cost. Can shoot out to 10 M, but most accurate from 5M and closer.

Pros
All metal construction with fine detailing. Double and Single Action.

Cons
Not a blow back model, but that is not a problem.

I wanted a pellet gun so I decided to order this Walther CP88 because it was in production for so long and that would mean it could not be bad. Sure glad that I did. This gun look's the part and feel's really hefty in your hands. It loads easily and shoots pretty strait. Almost as good as my P226 X-Five. It does not get much better than this. All good.

Pros
Weight, feel, precision, the way you load the CO2 cartridge, the way you load the pellets.and the looks.

Cons
You cant have it all.

Just took delivery of this item, beautiful fit and finish . The weight of this pistol is perfect for me. The weapon is accurate, relatively easy to load, and powerful.

Pros
Fit and finish. Exceptionally well balanced and fits my hand like a glove.

Cons
A little stiff to open the breach block when loading the cast metal cartridge revolver but this is already getting better as I break in the weapon.

I like the feel of it. It's heavy, solid, and most of all looks like the real thing. No issues at the Canadian border. As long as you have all pertinent statistical data for the Airgun, no problems.

Pros
The feel of it. It's that close to the real thing.

Cons
Only 8 rounds per cartridge, but I sill enjoy it.

I am buying my husband an airgun for Christmas. I need to know what the difference is between pellet and BB and which should a beginner purchase? Can you recommend a first-time gun?
