Plinker
April 1, 2012
I got this to simply stay in practice without spending any real money for ammo.
Pros:
Ever want to just shoot, not to kill anything, but shoot for the fun of it? A target at 25 yards is perfect for BBs. The price is great. The package I bought came with a scope, ammo, eye protection... pretty much everything. It's been money well spent.
Cons:
From the factory, this is not a pellet gun. Let me explain; the little plastic pellet magazine they give you is clumsy and impractical. I'll probably take some fishin' lead and a chainsaw file and fashion some sort of guide to glue into the receiver so that I can just drop a pellet in there without using that useless plastic magazine that I'm gonna misplace anyway. Without such modification, it's just a pump BB gun.

Good value to quality ratio
December 31, 2011
This gun is a very good value gun. I bought it for my 8 year old daughter and she loves it. I am also having a ton of fun with it. Don't expect a wood and steel gun at this price. It seems like it will last for at least a few years with a little care taken. Great starter or plinker.
Pros:
Good power for its type Nice size for kids.
Cons:
Only thing I don't like is the plastic stock is hollow.

Great gun
November 30, 2011
This is a great starter gun for the youngsters. I have had this rifle for about 5 years now, no trouble what so ever. Just the other day the black birds were overtaking my yard, pulled this baby out and right away, heart shot. Made me remeber why I got this gun in the first place.
Pros:
Great on power, accuracy, and feel.
Cons:
Made from cheap materials.

I bought this for my 13 year old daughter & she loves it! The only thing she finds difficulty with is the pump. It is a great first time rifle for her, otherwise.

Not Spectacular, but ok
July 17, 2010
This is almost the exact gun I had when I was a kid and was stolen from my parents house. It's no frills, basically a plinker with a scope that is so-so. Good if you are just starting out and want to hit some targets with your friends in the back yard or while camping.

Alright
April 22, 2010
The gun was great; easy to cock, easy trigger, easy loading, relatively easy to pump. It made nice distance and reasonable accuracy using gun sights (1" off target at 30ft-10m). However, it did have some unmistakable flaws, such as the scope was very difficult to adjust resulting in inaccuracy and there were slight oil leakages on various parts of the gun (top, pump grip, barrel). A bit of oil never hurt anyone but it was quite an eyesore. In addition, the rear end of the gun was very light in comparison to the front causing loss of balance and accuracy. The gun is less cheap and plastic than I expected, however I would prefer it to have a less cheap feel to it. Overall, I would recommend buying this gun if you want a good gun for a low price, however, you must bear in mind that the flaws that it has does not affect the amount of fun you can have with it very much.

I am 75 years old and find the pump action difficult. Also I think it is overpriced as they are less expensive at Walmart. The shipping cost was prohibitive at over $12. Everything else was acceptable but due to the shipping cost would never buy again buy this on line.

Just wondering, is it me or does the air pressure leak while your pumping? (like, just a tiny bit though)
By Staff on November 11, 2011

Answer:
I'm not sure how many times you are pumping it but after a certain number of pumps these guns have a built in release valve so you can't over pump the gun.

If you aren't over pumping it and are hearing a small leak it's probably nothing to worry about.

Thanks

How many pumps its recomendated?
By Jim from bellflower, ca on April 2, 2012

Answer:
with my Grandsons shooting at paper targets about 25 feet away I use 4 pumps, that seems to be good for that distance.
By michael from clifton heights, PA on April 2, 2012

Answer:
My daughter and I shoot it at a distance of 30 to 45 feet. At 5 pumps it is acurate and easy to control. It also dosen't bounce around too much if you miss and hit something solid.
At 8 to 10 pumps you can really hear a good pop and create a nice dent on a steel soup can. It should also be able to humanly kill small rodents and pests.
By raclarkus from Portland, OR on April 3, 2012

Answer:
The manufacturer recommends no less than three pumps and not more than ten pumps.

I purchased a crossman 664gt rife a couple of years ago for my grandson which had the 5/6 pellet manual clip.
The clip has since broken and I need a replacement--where can I find one?
Thanks for the assistance.

With this gun having a scope, can you also still use the open sights, meaning does it have see through ring mounts, or is it scope only while it's mounted to the gun?
By Mike from Stow, OH on January 17, 2012

Answer:
The optical scope will interfere with the rear iron sight, so I had to remove it in order for the scope to be properly mounted on rails. Not a big loss, as the quality of the iron sights is pretty low. The scope is pretty decent (for this price point), and allowed me to shoot tight groups at 25 yards after initial zero-in.
By michael from clifton heights, PA on January 17, 2012

Answer:
You can't use both. The sights seem pretty good to about 10 yards. After that you should use the scope and sight it in properly.
By Jackson from San Pedro, CA on January 17, 2012

Answer:
It is only mounted on the gun, it would be MUCH greater if there were rings indeed. With the range of this rifle, you can kinda look left and right, and guess arrange the sights. But overall, if you put the scope on you cant use the normal sights normally. I posted some pictures, image 1 is side view, 2 is "trying to look through the normal sights" and picture 3 is what SHOULD be seen, if you can see through the bottom of scope.
By Joel from Carmel, IN on January 19, 2012

Answer:
Hi, Brian;
No, with the scope mounted, you cannot see use the open sights; the included scope sits too low on the receiver for that, and the mounts are not see-through style.
See-through mounts are usually a bad fit for a pellet gun, because they raise the scope so high above the bore, causing parallax problems ( = the line-of-sight of the scope is too far out of alignment with the barrel).

In my opinion, Crosman 66-series rifles are at their best un-scoped, anyway the scope included in this package is pretty basic.
That being said, if you do intend to shoot your 664 scoped, I would advise that you buy a decent 4x32 scope and medium rings. Crosman sells a very nice set under the Centerpoint brand for about $30...
By Carter from Washington on February 15, 2012

Answer:
It's the scope only when it's mounted on the gun.
