Description:
The Crosman Raven youth rifle shoot 600 feet per second. It is an ideal entry
level break barrel for younger or smaller shooters. Even though the pellets
are traveling at 600 FPS most customers think this rifle is not powerful enough
when they can purhcase a BB rifle that shoots 780 FPS. It shoots at 600 FPS
because of the rifling that the barrel has, this creates added drag and slows
down the pellet but gives it a balistic spin. The spinning makes the pellet
travel through the air like a drill, cutting through it allowing much more accurate
and longer distance shots than a BB could ever hope for.
Features:
- Easy cocking
- Ambidextrous all-weather polymer stock with ergonomic thumbhole design.
- Over-molded rifled steel barrel resists corrosion
- 11mm Dovetail Rails for Optics
- Adjustable Rear Sight

Overall Rating for Crosman Raven Youth .177 Break Barrel Pellet Rifle CY6M77
Very reliable first air gun

By Felix from UK on April 22, 2012
after reading reviews on this gun I realized one of the major problems is cocking the barrel, if you directly pull on the barrel you risk damaging it and waste a lot of time, but if you deliver a firm tap to the nozzle of the gun it opens easily. I've passed more or less 750 shots through the gun and it still works well. I suggest oiling it regularly and always shooting it at least once per month to clear the barrel.Pros:
SturdyLightweight
Accurate
Cons:
Slight noise when shooting as it gets olderI would recommend this item to a friend.

Not bad for a youth rifle

By Brian from Littleton, CO on January 27, 2012
Got this to take out squirrels in the back yard but was a little weak (with Crosman Premiers 10.5gr a little heavy for youth gun) have since started using RWS Super points and the accuracy improved and seems to hit a little harder. Over all not a bad gun. I would recommend this item to a friend.
Accurate short range youth rifle

You can't beat this rifle for the money. I have a small city lot, and wanted something quiet to keep the squirrels off my bird feeder. It is about as quiet as it gets, and will drop squirrels up to 25 yards with an upper body shot. I've gotten a few even farther than that with good shot placement. The open sights on the one I bought were crooked, my only complaint. However, I bought a dovetail to weaver adaptor, and mounted a cheap Wal-Mart Tasco red dot on it. That make it really nice. It's pretty accurate (at least out to 25 yards), and actually shoots faster than adertised with standard (7.9 grain) pellets. Shooting through my chronograph, shots averaged about 625 FPS. All shots were above the advertised 600 FPS.Crosman Raven rifle

good tactical body, for whose; like me search more modern that my granddfather style, light weight, excellent three point sight, all steel barrel and spining barrel; thats means precision, not in BB.great break barrel for kids

if your looking for a great rifle for kids, look no further, easy to sight in with scope, great accuracy at 25 yds, dont buy those cheap daisy guns for your kids, get them these because, im sure theyll want to shoot these style guns for years to come, get them hooked on break barrels.great cheap air rifle

This is the perfect rifle for varmint control if you've got a small, city lot with nosey neighbors. The fiber optic sight sucks. The one on my rifle was mounted crooked, and there is no way fix that. I returned it and got a new one, but the sight on the new one was also crooked. However, if you buy a decent scope (I got a Daisy Powerline for $35), and sight it in, this rifle is very accurate. It's very easy to cock and load. It is also inconspicuous looking, and very quiet. If you can get within 50 feet of your target, you can take out small rodents no problem with one shot. I bought it to keep squirrels from destroying and pillaging my bird feeders, It's worked so well for that, I've concidered taking it small game hunting.third rifle for boy

By geo guz on September 28, 2009
this is his third rifle he is eight, he is able to cock and shoot this rifle very well . but i thought all crosmans where made in USA this rifle is not.. My son still thinks this rifle is a great b-day presant and rifle! When he masters the iron sights he will get a scope on it .cool gun!

got 1 last week, shot around 300 rounds thru it, after break in clean, i put a 3-9x32 scope on it, zeroed it then shoot my 55yrd. target, 1st shot! i have now moded the stock, by removeing the rear pad, went 2 ace got 2 #8 3 inch screws, cut 2 pieces of pvc pipe @ 2 1/4 inches, slipped the screws thru the pad, sliped the pvc pieces, [painted black] over screws screwed into old holes, till snug, now the stock looks like a sniper extension, makes it better 2 shoot for bigger kids! butt 2 end its a very nice gun 4 the price!to cool to be true

Answer:
If you are simpoly planning on using the gun for target plinking, this gun will be perfect. It's power is a bit weak so if you plan on killing squirrels or other small animals, the gamo would be better.
