I'm not one of the air gunners that shoot 100 yd I shoot maybe 50 yds at most and it is real accurate and with the right pellet you can shoot through a 2x4
Pros:

the scope

Good for the money
December 26, 2013
When I got this gun I began to shoot it and was inexperienced at the time- 13 yrs old. I got it scoped in (as good as I got it) and started hunting and killed my fair share of little pest birds and chipmunks, with a few red or gray squirrels. The 4x32 scope most people criticize but I think its the right scope for this gun. This gun is great for the money- but by no means a high end break barrel. Its a great gun for beginning hunters and youth as it is fairly easy to cock. Also, i doubt the accuracy of this gun at long ranges, which is why it is a great beginners air rifle. pellets I would recommend are Gamo red fires, crosman hollow points, or Gamo blue flames. I would not recommend Gamo's PBA ammo because it is inaccurate- or so I found- even with a Gamo made air rifle. Overall, quality for the money, but not an advanced top of the line break barrel by any means.
Pros:
Price, easy cocking, great for youth or beginnners
Cons:
Not accurate at longer ranges, not a very advanced rifle.

Big cat 1250
November 10, 2013
first off when I received my big cat I was impressed, nice long 43 inches just about the length of a savage axis rifle, the trigger is supposed to be a two stage trigger but I don't feel it when I pull on the trigger, the 4x32 scope is OK I guess, over all the rifle is great shoots good plenty of power used crosman pointed premium pellets shoots great but daisy precision max are really crappy but the Beeman hollow point fit really snug in the breach and fires really well with this pellet,I also purchased the H&N Hornet 8.80 gr (not available @ Airgun Depot purchased elsewhere) will do some test firing with these seem to be a great hunting pellet.
Pros:
great shooting power
Cons:
twangy spring, would consider a gas piston conversion

Gammo Big Cat
September 6, 2013
I am 51 and hadn't shot or bought a pellet gun in years. I was amazed at the accuracy of this rifle. It groups very well with premier ultra magnum pellets. Getting quarter sized groups at 25 yds. So far it has been very reliable and easy to zero in. I did put a different scope on it mainly because of things I had read on it. the one that comes with it isn't that bad. I have cleanly killed 11 squirrels in my backyard so far. I would highly recommend it to a friend.
Pros:
ease of use, clean trigger break, ACCURACY
Cons:
Needed it when I was 12

good "starter" gun
March 25, 2013
Shoots normal 7.9 grain lead pellets in the low 900's FPS. Don't listen to the 1250 FPS hype. You can only get close to 1250 FPS with PBA pellets, which is just as bad for the gun as dry firing.
Pros:
Great value for $129, decent power.
Cons:
I would have liked gamo to have made the gun more powerful with lead pellets. the recoil rivals a 410 shotgun. its loud, if your hunting. . .you get 1 shot. the scope/mounts are junk. if you decide to keep the scope/mounts, make sure its zeroed every other day, or else youll have a different POI.

My daughters first pellet gun is a GREAT one
January 11, 2013
The gun is easily worth what I paid for it. My daughter had a pump BB gun and I got her this for her birthday. She is having a ball. We have shot only targets thus far but will be hunting with it eventually. It is plenty accurate and is easily shot by my 13 year old daughter. I would recommend this gun to anyone that is serious about shooting WITH their kids or to an adult just wanting to play around.
Pros:
Workmanship Weight Consistensy
Cons:
Scope has to be tightened often for the first 3 or so outings.

Great Gun
January 3, 2013
Just got this gun the other day and it's great. It was very easy to sight in and has lots of power. Accurate enough to shoot squirrels 90 feet up in a tree and powerful enough to drop it in one shot. The Platinum bullets work great with this gun and significantly increase speed and power.
Pros:
Very powerful, accurate, and well balanced.
Cons:
Needs a 3-9X32 scope for greater accuracy.

great gun
December 5, 2012
I have now had this gun for a year now and I have put about 8,000 rounds through it. It is awesome, and it still shoots about the same speed. It has better accuracy because the amount I've shot it, and it isn't wearing down at all. I've shot tons of things with it from sparrows and chipmunks to squirrels and crows. The only problems with the gun were due to personal error. My housing at the back of the barrel broke because I didn't screw in the scope mounts to the gun and the recoil sent the scope back into the plastic housing which broke it. If your looking for an awesome gun but don't want to pay much, definitely buy this gun.
Pros:
Great power, speed, and durability.
Cons:
Get a new scope for the gun the 4x32 power isn't very good. Get one that goes to at least 6x32. I personally bought the BSA 3-9x32 scope and would recommend it to anybody.

Powerful,Accurate Air Rifle
July 17, 2012
Fantastic air rifle, ample power, easy cocking, accurate, all wrapped in a package weighing just a tad over 2.75kg.Outstanding. My only recommendation for any future buyers is,as with all modern springer's,that power comes with a very healthy recoil,I'll definitely consider a Nitro for the future,I considered buying a .22 nitro soon after this purchase but the international shipping costs & service provider inexplicable changed,no USPS.The more than twice increase in shipping charges put a dampener on that plan. Also the 50 supplied PBA pellets are not recommended for backyard use due to the fact they go supersonic every-time,"Loud". Scope was easy to sight in.Unlike many who found the scope insufficient,my partner & I find it ample for our plinking needs. Thanks for the prompt shipping & great product Airgun Depot.
Pros:
Ample power, easy cocking, accurate, all wrapped in a package weighing just a tad over 2.75kg. Nice looking, easily balanced natural feel to this rifle. Most definitely lethal to all varmints.
Cons:
Sharp edges on rear of trigger guard. Also that the shipping option available for this rifle is seemingly no longer an option for future purchases.

Big Bad MAMA
May 18, 2012
I needed a gun strong enough for squirrels, because they had clear cut all around me and drove all of them onto our 1 1/2 acres and they where eating my tomatoes up---well this does the job---most of the time with 1 shot--break down 1 time put in a pellet and ready to fire--I am 65 years old and I can break it down easy--you want be sorry with this gun
Pros:
Easy to break down and put in a pellet--scope works fine for me
Cons:
would be nice if it had iron sights for back up

Huge upgrade from our old air rifle!
April 9, 2012
My husband and I both loved this rifle. It shoots with amazing accuracy, thanks to the great quality and good scope. I always have trouble with smaller sized scopes because of my vision, but this one is larger and works great. You can see clear as day. It works great with the platinum ammo that comes with it. Makes any other type of ammo seem like a joke.

Gamo Big Cat 1250 Much, Much More Than Expected!
April 4, 2012
This is definitely a must-have for the prepper! You can't find a better small game rifle for the money that costs so little to use! I have my hunting rifles, shotguns and handguns - but this air gun is the best deal for the money. I spent 15 minutes and seven rounds of .177 cal pellets to sight in the scope than comes with it at 40 yards, to DEAD CENTER! Had my yard been wider, I'd have gone for more. It does have recoil and it's a bit loud, but that's how a spring powered break barrel comes. I'll have to keep an eye on the sight, but that's not a biggie - it's part of the fun! Kudos to AirgunDepot for the speed and ease of this purchase and kudos to Gamo for an excellent product!
Pros:
Easy to sight in. Well made. Excellent rifle for the money. Cheap to use.
Cons:
Didn't get it sooner.

very enjoyable
February 12, 2012
After reading reviews on many air rifles I was concerned that some said "cracks like a 22". I bought this for target shooting in the back yard and sound would be an issue. There is no way this is even close to any conventional firearm. I am pleased with the accuracy, sound and price of this rifle.
Pros:
Quite accurare
Cons:
Single shot

I think the gun is a good value for the money. Had no trouble sighting it in and everything works as it should.. I only gave it 4 stars because of the trigger. It really limits the degree of accuracy because of it's stiffness. I read the reviews and knew this when I bought it however.
Pros:
well made good value
Cons:
trigger

Amazing gun
November 15, 2011
It's an extremely powerful gun to use if hunting or just wanting to shoot cans. But over all it is an amazing gun. Also when using raptor pellets it becomes extremely loud And very deadly
Pros:
How much power it has and how accurate it is
Cons:
Build a condenser to the front of it so that it can become a little quieter

is the 1 77 cal better or more accurate than 22 cal
By Staff on December 29, 2011

the .22 caliber will shoot slower, hit harder.
Accuracy will tend to be greater in the .177

how does one go about adjusting the trigger? Its to tight
By JR from Fort Worth, TX on February 21, 2012

Answer:
First of all make sure it's not loaded for obvious safety reasons. Second turn the rifle upside down till the trigger is facing you. You then loosen the two screws that allow access to the trigger. Finally there's a small phillups screw behind the trigger, turn it clockwise to de-crease the length and counter-clockwise to increase the length of the triggwer action. I hope you find this info helpful, thanx.

are all pellet guns only single shot?
By Staff on May 9, 2012

Answer:
There are pellet guns that are semi automatic with 8-10 rounds an I believe there are a coupl that are even automatic.
However, those guns are in the range of $1200-$1600. So for the most part, yes, they are single shot.

Does the scope come calibrated? If so, at how many yards?
By J.Lizarraga from Forr Wort,Texas on January 24, 2012

Answer:
No it doesn't come calibrated, at least mine did not. calibrating the scope was a breeze, specially if you're familiar with airguns. The rifle itself is amazing it has plenty of fire power and extremely accurate. I love everything about the Gammo Big Cat air rifle! My whole experience to this day has been amazing and the customer service and shipping at Air Gun depot was pleasent. You won't find a better rifle with this workmanship at this price from Airgun Depot.

By steelcountry from Texas on December 2, 2011
Where was this rifle made?
By Keyan from LA on December 27, 2011

Answer:
All of gamo air rifles are made in spain. The scope is made in china but is very decent. I don't recommend buying a new scope, it does the job to about 70 yards.

What is the range of this gun
By Arturo from Guaymas, Mexico. on May 23, 2012

Answer:
I have killed doves as far as 50 meters, (54 yards) with with a single shoot, using 7.8 grains pellets.
Your effective distance with this airgun depends more of your skill to aim, I used no compensation, the drop of the shot is not a problem.
You may be tempted to install a more powerful scope to aim distances longer than 30 yards...
By Anna from Ohio on May 25, 2012

Answer:
We attempted to have our 11 year olds use this rifle, and it was difficult for them to hold it and complete the reload. We have a lower FPS rifle that is a little easier for them to operate, that they usually use instead. But, it is a great gun and it's been the favorite overall.

By David from East Bangor, Pennsylvania on January 15, 2012
Are you allowed to own and use this without a firearm license?
By Staff on January 17, 2012

Answer:
The need for a firearm license is to be determined by your local city/state. Most areas do not require a license for this type of gun/rifle. You should not need one in your area Pennsylvania as we have no shipping restrictions there.
