For those who have problems with this trap, simply get about three lbs of duct seal (about $9.00) from Lowe's or Home Depot and pack it into the trap. This cushions the pellets and solves the ricochet problem. After a few hundred pellets, the duct seal will have to be repacked.

I own a RWS 34 Meisterschutze Pro Compact Air Rifle 177 Caliber which typically shoots in the 850fps range. I use the RWS Superdome .177 pellets which wiegh in at around .54g. With the target set at 25 yards, the angled metal backstop inside the pellet trap completely deformed after 20 rounds. The pellets would then ricochet off the rear of the trap, and come out the front of the target in unpredictable directions. After 30 more rounds, the rear of the trap has extended so far it split, making it unsafe for further use. The metal is simply too thin for use with higher fps rifles.

Cons
Metal too thin.

As I am a serious air rifle shooter who enjoys competing, I purchased this trap to shoot at 10 meters with my wife's Weihrauch HW 30s air rifle. As the velocity is only 675 fps, I felt that this trap would be sufficient. WRONG! The gauge of steel is too light weight to effectively work on a continuous basis with flathead lead pellets. This trap needs to be stronger to be safe as we began getting ricochets after 100 shots due to the deflector becoming deformed. If you are a serious shooter, this is not a safe trap.

Pros
Great for practicing

Cons
Very Inferior gauge steel to be effective or even safe. BEWARE OF RICOCHETING!

I loved the design of this trap, but found that it would not at all hold up to the velocity (at suggested distance) of my Gamo Whisper Fusion IGT .177 Cal Air Rifle that quickly deformed/ruined the deflector plate of the trap.

Pros
NOTE: I would recommend this trap to a friend with the caviat that they are using it for a low velocity air rifle/pistol.

This is a small and very sturdy pellet catcher target holder and it comes with tons of replacement targets. With my .177 Beretta it held up just fine but with my Umarex Octane .22 not so much. It catches all of the .22 pellets, but every hit dents and deforms the pellet catcher and walls. It will be unusable from deformation long before I get through all of the targets it came with.

Pros
Small, easy to mount, sturdy for .177 guns

Cons
Don't use with anything .22

I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE BIGGER BUT IT'S NOT. FOR THE SIZE IS NOT THAT BAD IT DID THE JOB. IT STOPPED ALL THE PELLETS AND ALL THE BB'S. LIKE IT SHOULD.

i bought this to use for my desert eagle .177, and it works perfect for that. catches the rounds without putting a dent on the trapper.... but I tried this on my Gamo .22 rifle.... the shot was so strong it went through the back of the catcher and dented numerous parts of the trap. Wish they made the trap thicker. I ended up using those targets on bricks instead.

Pros
works well with .177 handguns

Cons
does not catch 1000fps rifle .22 shots. will bend the metal and go through it eventually

I found it easy to put together and well made. I use it from 15 to 20 yards with 22 grain pellets. It traps them with ease, and there is no visible damage to the trap.

Pros
Solid Construction

Cons
Nothing

Although you probably shouldn't use pointed, hunting pellets with this trap, that's what I used (.177, lead). at about 25 yards, my Gamo Whisper (~1000fps) bent the deflector inside the catch and went through the back of the mount. It would probably do a better job of stopping the pellet if using flathead, target rounds but I don't see that mentioned anywhere. Of course, make sure you have a good backstop. I only mention it on this site because I will definitely be buying products here. This sit has it all! Thanks!

Pros
does it's job and very sturdy

Cons
doesn't stop pointed hunting pellets
