Great gun!
July 2, 2012
I bought this for it's lightweight design. This gun is easy to carry, cock, and shoot. Seems fairly accurate with the iron sights, I haven't tried a scope on it yet. Recoil is more noticeable with this low mass gun. Still has plenty of spring noise for the shooter, but bystanders claim it seems like a quiet gun.
Pros:
*Light weight *easy to cock
Cons:
Needs a weaver rail

Gamo .22 Silent Cat
April 16, 2011
One of the other reviewers here is a relative of mine. He convinced me over a few other choices to buy this gun. Exceptionally accurate at 25-30 yds, Still very accurate out to 50 yds. Do yourself a favor and use some medium threadlocker on all the scope bolts, and crank them down too. Best ammo that either of us have used so far in it is Crosman Premier Hollowpoints. I was surprised at how loud it was for the first few shots. After about 20 rounds it quieted right down. Great gun overall.

works great, very powerful and accurate. Hold 1/4" group at 25 yds. Most ammo goes right thru catalogs.

Good StarterPower affected greatly by poor piston seal in reciever .
April 4, 2011
My first air rifle . Bought it after reading good reviews .Not as quiet as I expected . Lots of spring noise and poor trigger action . Trigger fixed by installing GRT4 assy and noise taken care of by doing complete tune up as per Tuna with new piston seal ( OEM seal was cut all to pieces by burrs in receiver during assembly ) , blue printing of receiver ( removal of all burrs and polishing of stamped openings ) , heavy tar on spring etc. Scope was OK but I was glad I ordered the Leapers scope at the same time I ordered the gun . Haven't even run 200 rounds thru it yet but I'm happy now that the little problems are fixed . Next is a gas spring ! Good gun but be prepared ( and knowledgable enough ) to work on it !

Wonderful gun! Its quality built and will not fall apart on you, and its very effective for hunting (power-wise), but the scope mounts are pathetic. I used a bore sighter to zero the scope, and I was able to maintain a two-inch group at 100 yards without fine-tuning. However, I could only maintain the group for 7 shots, because the scope was actually shaken loose.

Got this b 4 christmas and has been a great rifle, super accurate, light weight, shoots crosman hollow pts well, have put down many tree rats, and starlings. First real air rifle since I was a kid, would recomend, gets much quieter the more u shoot it.

I purchased this for survival in a tactical situation. I am prior Army Infantry, with some other courses thrown in shall we say a masters in small unit operations, saying this I have shot a lot of weapons in my time, this one is a beast, rugged, acurate, powerful and light. No recoil at all. I would say just as accurate out to 35 meters as a .22 cal rifle. As far as the noise goes not as quite as the vids, and actully louder than a 22 with sub sonics and a can on it, would not advise shooting it in your back yard, but then if you dont have a suppressor... the advantage is no suppressor to wear out or clean plus no BATF fees. Would I buy it again yes, just dont buy it for the noise level. The staff is friendly and communicate rapidly and accurately.

Good gun, Bad scope mounts
January 30, 2011
The gun is pretty good so far, I could not get it sighted in for the life of me, so I bought a Leapers 3-9 mil dot scope to see if that fixed the problem. I got the same issue, once sighted in at 35 yards it you could not hit anything from any other distance. I took a closer look and notice the mounts are very poor and the scope would not mount straight. I ordered a single piece mount for it so I hope this fixes the problem. I will let you know how it goes.

Nice Air Rifle
January 24, 2011
This is my first air rifle, I did not care for the scope and ordered a UTG bug buster along with this air gun. Excellent quality, I have had a blast shooting this gun and it seems to be pretty accurate for my novice skill. I have killed numerous varmints with this rifle with ease. Not loud in my opinion, but I don't think they should call it "silent"... I am hoping to do a nitro piston upgrade in the future, if it will fit. Overall this is an excellent gun.

Great Air Rifle
January 10, 2011
I've owned airguns since I was a kid and this is definitely one of my favorites. It shoots well, quite powerful, moderately loud, and accurate. I also bought it cause it looked very cool. The recoil is strong but stable, and the weight is that of a real firearm. I like the feel and look of the synthetic frame. I wish it had a bolt action type loader like my old Benjamin. I'm not too fond of pumping and loading from breaking the barrell. Overall, an awesome gun!

Gamo Silent Cat .22
January 7, 2011
Received it this week. I was a little disappointed that trigger is the newer plastic version. I had already ordered the GRT III that I will have to return. Once you get used to the forward kick it is very accurate. Remember -loose grip= bullseye rips! Scope is OK if you use medium thread lock. I found some stuff at Tru-Value made by Permatex. Get a good 3mm allen wrench for the screws on the top of the rings (the one that comes with the scope is junk). No problems if you tighten well and use the thread lock. I will update if anything changes- I've only had it for a few days! Right now it feels good and shoots well.

Silent Cat - loosing power
December 29, 2010
Earlier, I rated this rifle with a 4 rating. However, the rifle looses about half its power in a month, and the compensator is separating from the barrel, making the rifle very low. Because of the separation, the vibration got worse and the accuracy went hay wire. Nevertheless, my two CFX purchased from this website are great. So far so good.

This gun is awesome i got it today and i already killed a bird! it took me only like a hlaf hour to site it in and it was ready to go. its really lightweight and its a great deal. if your trying to decide about going with .177 or .22 go with .22 it hits harder and shoots farther. also for all the people saying that the whisper silencer doesnt really make a differenc you should read about it cus it says that it wont sound different to the shooter because the sound is turned back towards you. the scope that comes with it is ok but it definitly works for the gun. BUY THIS GUN

I bought this rifle to dispatch ninja squirrels, and it does the job quite well. Not as quiet as I expected, but quiet enough not to worry the neighbors. Plenty of power, and accurate enough for my needs. Nice package.

I was skeptical when I ordered this gun because of the price. It was a great deal and I couldn't believe the power it had. After I finally got the scope sighted in, I have enjoyed every shot. Would recommend it and have to friends.

Overall good gun. The only things that I didn't like is that the scope isn't that good. You have to re adjust it every few shots. Also the rear sites get loose and u have to tighten the screw.

THIS GUN IS A BEAST!!! first of all this gun was well made, very light, and pure awsome. i got this gun last night and it took about 150 shots to finally sight it in. the scope is not cheap but it doesnt zoom in or out, all in all it is a good scope. the gun its self is hard hitting and very accurate. it is pretty qiet altho it doesnt sound like it when your shooting it. i was shooting in the same place every time when i was sighting it in, but they werent were in wanted them to go. this gun is very lightwait and beastly. u will want to really tighten down the scope very tight. i will be putting more reveiws on this gun to let everyone know how much its worth it. thank you air gun depot.

December 10, 2010
This gun is very light weight. However, it is a very powerful gun, a little more or same as my RWS 48. Its very accurate. However, due to its light weight, it vibrates more than the standard wooden stock. Although it is called Silent Cat, it is not exactly silent, it is slightly lower than the Gamo CFX I also purchased here. Silent Cat is light to carry which is good for hunting, but I like the feel of Gamo CFX more, a heavier gun makes it feel more real and less recoil felt.

First shot with a RWS superdome at 7 yds went right thru a 5/8 piece of cdx plywood. (Good thing I had extra backing.) After zeroing in I took it out to my poultry yard and took out several sparrows out to 25 yards. The rifle was light, accurate and easy cocking. I can't wait to take it to the field. Great gun for the price.

Great gun! Fires many types of pellets quite well. Shot a tomato with the gamo pba's that came with it ...obliteration. I bet they would blow a squirrels' head clean off if you shot one in the right spot. The scope is nice, too! Do it, you won't be dissapointed.

I just got this gun! Airgun depot isn't correct when they put 750 FPS. It's mior like 1,000 fps. I've killed two cyotes with tis gun!! It's just like my 22 long rifle except more expensive. I've think its easilly conpareible to the Trail NP!!! This gun should be in the Small game hunting section. I've purchased allot of airguns from airgun depot. I'd be dissoppointed if they didn't put it there! This things scope is actulley superiour to my Walther Falcon's

Recieved this rifle Monday. For the price this is a great .22 air rifle , it only took ten shots to zero it in,seems to like the three brands of pellets I have tried . Have many other airguns by other makers ( RWS ,Beeman , Crosman , etc) this was my first Gamo purchase and I couldn't be happier.Takes squirells/crows out with no problem.Best of all Airgun Depot beats every other company's price!

Pros: -deadly accurate, 1 inch grouping at 35yrds and 1.5 inch grouping at 50yrds -extremely powerful up to 75 yards, enough power to take down any small, and some medium game. -the thumb hole, or more pistol grip, really helps with stability, but for someone with large hands i recommend the big cat, same velocity but no thumb hole. -Very light and easy to handle. -Lasts long, have had mine for close to a year and still works great, with just basic care. Cons: -Scope and rings aren't very good, would recommend a higher quality one ordered at purchase. -over 100 yards it looses a lot of it power, wouldn't even go through a water bottle. Highly recommended and i find that beeman crow magnums work fantastic with this gun.

does it fire pellets or bbs? whats the difference between this and the nitro one?
By Staff on November 14, 2011

Answer:
This shoots .22 cal pellets only.

The difference between this air rifle and the .22 cal Gamo Whisper IGT .22 is that the IGT model uses a gas piston instead of a spring. Gas pistons are generally much quieter and have a smoother cocking and shooting action.

By JOhnnnnnn from GA on March 17, 2012
how do you pump it

By Staff on March 19, 2012

Answer:
When you break the barrel to load it it also is pumped and does not need any more pumping (one pump one shot)
