Gamo Whisper Royal with Chekered Stock, 177 Cal. To start off with, I like Air Rifles with Wood Stocks i just think they look better. I bought mine from Cabelas online. I had waited and waited for this Rifle to go on sale for about a year. It went on sale for 178.00 down from 299.00. Still didn't get it at 178.00. I let it go by. Three months later it goes on sale for 149.00 and jumped on it in a heartbeat, but i was thinking its probably Refurb?? Got the rifle and it was brand new. Very Happy! Anyway, their wasn't a whole lot about the Rifle that I didn't like. Very solid air rifle all around. I cocked it and heard a lot of noise. Found out that a lot of the linkage is lube very well. I took off the stock and didn't see any lube in compression chamber or on the mainspring. I couldn't see if the piston itself had any lube on it. I shot it about ten times only! Groupings were actually very good considering the lube thing. I hadn't shot it anymore after I saw the lube thing. I plan on lubing it correctly and shooting this beautiful rifle for years to come.
Pros:This is a beautiful, very solid, well built air rifle and I will never get rid of this thing. I wish I would of bought 2.Cons:The only real thing that I don't like about the rifle is the color of the stain that they put on the stock. It is kind of a dark oak color. The Lube thing is a easy fix and didn't really bother me because I usually take apart my air rifles when I get a new one. I like to make sure they are lubed where their supposed to be. I think when these air rifles are pushed out in mass quantities from the factory, sometimes little things get over looked. |

I needed a quiet semi powerful pellet rifle for use in the city. I target practice about 200 shots min. per day. The Whisper, once you dial it in is quiet...yes a whisper... yet has a solid range for target shooting I need at about 35meters. I know it will go farther..but that is my distance. I do suggest trying several types of pellets until you find what works best in your hands. I have found a medium weight pellet still gives me the range I need for target practice, without worrying about accidental overshots. It is an excellent buy. I did put a slightly stronger scope on it as I no longer see sharply at 30-35m. When you are putting multiple rounds into the same holes you begin to appreciate a rifle... but you have to match the ammo to the gun. Have fun!!
