It’s quiet! The Remington® .22 delivers reduced vibration and felt recoil with velocities of up to 1000 fps. Excellent for hunting and target shooting in all weather conditions, it won’t let you down.
Welcome to the new world of break barrel American Muscle – introducing the NEW NPSS, Nitro Piston Short Stroke, break barrel air rifle from Remington. At the heart of this new technological break-through is a nitrogen filled gas piston, instead of a coiled steel spring. The Nitro Piston Short Stroke will not be adversely affected by temperature and allows for much easier cocking force. This gun can be cocked for long periods of time without degrading or losing velocity, like steel springs. This Nitro Piston technology dramatically reduces felt recoil by eliminating the double hit and spring torque associated with steel spring guns. While reducing recoil, the NPSS is also the quietest break barrel ever to come out of the Crosman factory, producing a 70% reduction in shot noise over leading models. Features shot velocities of up to 1200 with lead-free pellets. The Nitro Piston™ technology provides dramatically reduced noise and recoil which make it an excellent pick for varmint control and small game hunting. Independent research by Intertek found that Nitro Piston technology reduces noise by 70% during the shot cycle comparted with traditional steel spring break-barrels!
Additionally, the NPSS is feature rich, providing a bull barrel, which minimizes the effects of barrel vibration while delivering better rigidity throughout the entire length, both of which promote greater accuracy. The stock on this new NPSS has a custom film dip process applied, plus a final soft touch coating which delivers vibration dampening characteristics to the entire stock. Also included is an enhanced trigger package of all metal construction and two-stage adjustability. Lastly, this gun comes ready to go with a 3-9 X 32 CenterPoint scope that features an adjustable objective and a mil-dot reticle for precision shooting.
Quiet, smooth and powerful – that is American Muscle.

KIT review

By Andrew from Goldens Bridge, NY on March 30, 2012
First of all only 3 stars because its a KIT review. The rifle itself 5 stars no doubts! Nitro Piston tech is great! Quiet, can stay cocked for literally hours and yet still powerful. .22 Caliber delivers some Knockdown power i must say, while the cocking effort won't break your arms even after a hundred shots. The recoil is pretty smooth as well. And overall this rifle looks great, esp in Digital Camo, and is pleasant to shoot or even just hold in your hands. Now the kit. The laser can go to hell right away, as well as the bi-pod. To start with - the barrel is too thick for the bi-pod mount (if you use the attached screws). To avoid losing the alignment of your laser (if you some how manage to put it all together... I did) - you really gotta show the miracles of gentleness n slowness in breaking the barrel, which is almost impossible. THESE THINGS ARE JUST NOT DESIGNED TO WORK TOGETHER! So what i did was - got a bit longer bolts for the barrel mount, and a bit shorter for the laser mount (one step in size up n down accordingly, but the length still didn't fit perfectly, so i had to basically make "my own" sized bolts). The laser wouldn't stay aligned. So i just threw it away, this way bi-pod works pretty well. The scope is pretty good, but when you mount the flashlight, it doesn't let the front cover of the scope flip up completely - which is absolutely not a problem, esp if the light is mounted as far to the front of the scope as possible.
SO
Rifle - 5
Laser - 0
Bi-pod - 1
Scope - 4
Flashlight - 4
Pros:
The Rifle: Accurate, powerful, great looking and feeling, quiet, smooth-shootingCons:
Bi-pod: too small for the barrelLaser: won't stay aligned

Powerful but the included laser accessory is USELESS

By Tom from Savannah, GA on February 1, 2012
First, the gun is very powerful and accurate. I received the gun after work and could not wait till the next day to sight it in. So, I did it indoors that very night. Let’s just say that you should use more than one phone book to stop the pellet :) Pros:
Powerful. Scope is great. Included flashlight is powerful and capable of lighting up at target at 20-30 yards.
Cons:
Heavy! I purchased the gun with the included accessory kit that included bi-pod, laser and flash light.
The laser must be mounted to the bi-pod and the bi-pod must be mounted to the barrel. The problem is that the barrel breaks with every cocking and loading of the gun. EVERYTIME YOU BREAK THE BARRELL THE LASER LOSES IT’S ALIGHNMENT WITH THE SCOPE. THE LASER IS USELESS. I cannot believe that it is even sold with this rifle! I removed the laser and bi-pod because of this. I tried to re-configure the accessory setup to position the light on the barrel and mount the laser over the scope but this is impossible with included hardware. Further, there were NO INSTRUCTIONS included to tell you how to assemble the accessory kit!
Looks so cool

By Andrew from Henderson, NV on January 8, 2012
I have seen this gun in a store and it looks so cool. The nitro piston is where it is at! It delivers power while still being quiet and accurate. This is defiantly my next purchase on Airgun depot. It is also really light so it is easy to carry around and also you can leave the gun cocked for hours which makesit ideal for huntingPros:

Great Nitro Rifle

By Steve from Virginia on November 7, 2011
I love this set up. The scope, laser bi-pod and flashlight are all fun to use. The Remington nitro line is a step above the rest. Pros:
Great accuracy and take down power, looks A++++. good small game hunting rifle.Cons:
Can be a little heavy with all the accessories mounted to it but you can take them off if you don't need them for the particular hunt you are doing.I would recommend this item to a friend.

Answer:
I love the gun but I am very disappointing in the laser. The adjustments are too loose on the laser. If you do get the laser zeroed in, it will not stay because the adjuster screws are too loose. This could be just mine.Bi pod is great, light works well, scope works well. You do need to run about 75-100 pellets through the barrel to get it to settled down though, and then its dead on.

I have not experienced any problems with the scope "sliding" at all and I have not heard about a set screw to keep this from happening. Very happy with the gun & Scope, but you have to have the right ammo. I was shooting regular 14 grain hollow points and it was difficult to zero in. I switched to the Skenco Ultra Mag .22 Cal, 18.2 Grains, Pointed pellets and I can hold a 1 inch grouping at 30 yards with that. I did run about 75 rounds through the gun before really trying to sight it in as recommended. The laser is certainly not it's strong point though.Oh...and it is VERY quiet compared to other spring pellet guns.

The rear scope mount has a set screw to lock it in place. So far I love this gun. I got it broke in and sighted in grouping less than the size of a half dollar.By adam from alpine, CA on November 15, 2011

The NPSS series is great, the nitro piston technology is definitely a plus and because there'sminimum vibration your accuracy is improved, from a 3O yard distance
Is bullseye always.

Answer:
Hi, of course the final group depends of who is behind the gun but I have shot groups of three and even five from 50 yards all inside a quarter with the proper adjustments on the scope, so in my opinion the rifle is great, has great accuracy and almost no kick back if compared to a spring piston. I have also had great shots as far as 100 yards, believe me no squirrel was standing after one shot. This rifle is very strong built, shoots a powerful shot, is very stable and easy cocking, I haven't utilized the laser yet but I'm sure will come in hand.Best of all the gun is beautiful looking and is an amazing gun for the price of the package!!!
