Welcome to the new world of break barrel American Muscle – introducing the NEW NPSS, Nitro Piston Short Stroke, break barrel air rifle from Remington. At the heart of this new technological break-through is a nitrogen filled gas piston, instead of a coiled steel spring. The Nitro Piston Short Stroke will not be adversely affected by temperature and allows for much easier cocking force. This gun can be cocked for long periods of time without degrading or losing velocity, like steel springs. This Nitro Piston technology dramatically reduces felt recoil by eliminating the double hit and spring torque associated with steel spring guns. While reducing recoil, the NPSS is also the quietest break barrel ever to come out of the Crosman factory, producing a 70% reduction in shot noise over leading models. Features shot velocities of up to 1200 with lead-free pellets. The Nitro Piston™ technology provides dramatically reduced noise and recoil which make it an excellent pick for varmint control and small game hunting. Independent research by Intertek found that Nitro Piston technology reduces noise by 70% during the shot cycle compared with traditional steel spring break-barrels!

Additionally, the NPSS is feature rich, providing a bull barrel, which minimizes the effects of barrel vibration while delivering better rigidity throughout the entire length, both of which promote greater accuracy. The stock on this new NPSS has a custom film dip process applied, plus a final soft touch coating which delivers vibration dampening characteristics to the entire stock. Also included is an enhanced trigger package of all metal construction and two-stage adjustable. Lastly, this gun comes ready to go with a 3-9 X 40 CenterPoint scope that features an adjustable objective and a mil-dot reticle for precision shooting.

Quiet, smooth and powerful – that is American Muscle.

Crosman Destroyer
By jonathon kim from Phoenix on April 6, 2012
Ok, so after putting about 1000 rounds through this, of all the pellets, i get the tightest, most accurate groupings with the Crosman Destroyer pellets.

I would say i get about a quarter, and sometimes on a dime at 25 yards.

My longest shot so far was a sparrow at 120 yards.

Pros:
accuracy!
Cons:
weight, singleshot

I would recommend this item to a friend.

I just bought this rifle. I used the RSW super dome pellets. I have only put 3 pellets on paper(rest just to get feel of gun). Impressed with it. I mounted scope. Shot a 1/2 dozen times. Then shot at paper. I was off a little to the right. Not bad for out of box , mount scope, and on paper.
Pros:
On paper quick and not as loud as I thought it would be
Cons:
A little heavy, but not too bad

I would recommend this item to a friend.

Absolute beauty!

Get the RWS Superdome 177. they are SUPER accurate with this rifle. Goes right through game, but doesnt instantly put them down unless its a headshot. Im getting more and more headshots, and also switching to the Crosman Destroyer tipped hollow points, and very accurate as well. Fun going prairie dog hunting with them, explosion! haha!
but when this gun is out of warranty, i WILL GET ANOTHER! best air rifle i have ever owned, Neighbors dont know whos is dropping the birds because this rifle IS super quiet. and my girlfriend is now a "Sniper" because of this rifle! (LOL) 100yds no problem!

The digital camo was the only rifle available, it's fugly to say the least, the scope went on in seconds, and the rifle shot a 3/4" group with it's first 10 pellets, at 10 yds. non bench rested. A little louder than I hoped, but everyone says it's calm down in another 90 rounds... The trigger is functional, the Charlie da Tuna option is still the best option from what I learned. The overall feel is good, the break barrel is easy to use, it's a little heavy from what I expected, but that's a good thing unless you're carrying it in the field- I'll be on first watch from the picture window for that wascly wabbit in my wife's garden... Overall very happy!

This gun replaced a Gamo varmit and I have been every bit pleased with this purchase, the cocking effort is about the same as all my break barrel pellet guns but the nitro piston is what the major difference is. The sound and feel of this gun is solid. The scope isn't the best but certainly not bad, accuracy is very good after some time getting it sighted in. Find a good pellet and stick with it, every time I changed the style of pellets the gun shot differently. PBA ammo is what I've had the best luck with. You can't go wrong with this gun

Hi everyone! I have some questions about the Remington NPSS .177 I am somewhat new to airguns and pellet rifles, I wanted to know if this is a good rifle for mostly plinking and hunting a few small rodents. (Squirrels, etc.) I am looking for a highly accurate rifle that is not too powerful because most of the shooting will be done in a backyard. One last note, Is it hard to zero in and what type of ammo would you reccomend. Thanks!
By Conor from Sunnyside, WA on February 2, 2012

Answer:
This would be suitable for your needs....use Predator Polymags, H&N pellets, JSB, or even just the plain Crosman Premiers work good too.
By Carter from Washington on February 15, 2012

Answer:
If you know how to zero in a scope, it'll be a piece of cake! Try the H&N Field Target Trophys (FTT's).

By mookie from stuart, florida on November 25, 2011
does it have any recoil and does it feel heavy?
By Erik from Arizona on January 1, 2012

Answer:
Yes there is a little bit of recoil friend was shooting it left handed and the scope recoiled and cut his eye open. It feels very solid. Not heavy but not light either.
By Carter from Washington on February 15, 2012

Answer:
The gun is 7lbs, and the recoil is like 3 times that of a .22lr.
