If you're looking for a Nitro Piston air rifle but don't want to spend a lot of money this is the gun for you (and me). The quality of the build surprised me because of the low price. I have spent a lot more money on other guns that aren't as well made as this one. The fact that it came with open sights as well as a scope was a major selling point. So many of the new air rifles don't even offer open sights! The only reason I gave it 4 stars, instead of 5, is the wood finish on my rifle didn't look anything like the one on the box. I immediately went out and bought a Birchwood Casey gun refinishing kit and problem solved. I also upgraded the scope. So if you're looking for a great Nitro Piston air rifle but don't want to spend a lot of money, look no further!
Pros:Extremely accurate open sights Very affordableCons:The factory wood finish was UGLY! |

Well so far I haven't had any problems with it at all it works great. It's exactly as described. I really like the classic wooden stock, it gives it a more distinct look rather than it looking like every other black air rifle, this one just stood out. It takes a little bit of muscle to cock it but reloading is not a problem. It has a good solid feel to it and fits perfectly in your hands. It also packs a powerful shot . All in all its a wonderful buy especially for the price
Pros:EverythingCons:Nothing yet |

Answer:
No, it will not drive those critters off, it will kill them. And yes, it will also kill pets and seriously injure or kill people. If you only want to drive them off then I suggest a BB gun, like a Daisy Red Ryder (don't laugh, they're fun) or maybe a CO2 pistol or something. Pump guns like the Crosman 760 for 1377 are adjustable in power so that might be better. Those guns are much cheaper too.

Answer:
It means that instead of using a steel coil spring inside to store the power it uses a pneumatic spring similar to the struts on the rear hatch of a SUV. They're very nice and make a little more power too, but the cocking effort is much higher than the % of power gain you get. They're smoother, and much quieter too. I'd recommend it unless you want the easiest gun to cock possible.By Dave from Cincinnati, OH on June 17, 2012

Answer:
It's like the coil spring in a way, you never know if or when it might go. A new gas spring is $26 +$4 ship from Crosman, a coil spring is $6 + $4 ship. The Nitro is a little more powerful and it's like a tuned gun compared to a coil spring gun. It's also much quieter. I have one and am tempted to buy another, but I think I'm going to hold out and get the Benjamin Trail XL1500. Look at the Benj Titan too, same power level as this Vantage, same nitro spring, same scope, just in 22 with a different stock and a muzzle brake instead of open sights, nice looking gun and I prefer the muzzle brake over sights any day..By mike from Chicago, illinois on July 30, 2012

Answer:
Hello Mike,The Remington Vantage NP is break barrel. The easiest way to cock a break barrel is to sit down and place the gun across your lap, with the barrel overhanging, hit the barrel near the front sight with the palm of your hand and it should open up.

Answer:
It's made in china like most all the other Crosman break barrels. It's new in that it wasn't offered with a nitro spring before, but old in that it's a regular Rem Vantage with the upgrade to nitro..Don't let anything deter you from buying it, it's an outstanding combo of a great gun and great spring. It's about as cheap as you can get a nitro, except for the Benj Titan which is also a great gun. I've seen referbs of the Titan for sale here even less, but I believe the Titan is only available in .22 now, and the Vantage is only in .177. Either gun can be converted in caliber, and both have the same power plant.
