Outstanding Deal!
October 30, 2014
Ok here is the deal'...I really like the stock style. I like to hunt so it can take the brush! Out of 5 Blackhawks (so far) I have not got a bad shooting air rifle. But , I clean and lube them! All have been able to put most pellets in a penny size dot at 20 yards, before the caffeine starts. After 5 or so years all are still ding well. I gave one to my neighbor and he is often telling me of his amazing shots with his Blackhawk. Remember this is a full size air rifle with plenty of power so we must be safe and careful where we shoot, so get a good backstop! Tuff part is finding the pellet it likes, and I mean the pellet it really likes. If you win it will like a pellet that you can get locally. If not you can order them online right here! Only one liked Crosman premiers. The rest others. Give the rifle time to settle down and burn off the oils in the chamber, then start sighting it in. Not each rifle is going to act the same but I believe you have a good chance it will be a straight shooter! I need to stop, too much writing going on. I need to go shooting...
Pros:
Well made relatively light Accurate ( At least mine is) Looks great!
Cons:
Sometimes QC is a bit lacking, but over all worth the money. Not much. Well I would like to see metal sights.

A Nice to own airgun
December 15, 2013
I have owned the Ruger Blackhawk for 4 years, I shoot the rifle at least twice a month putting approximate 300 rounds through it. I am very pleased with it. Just do regular PM on it i.e. routing lubrication and tightening screws. Anyone can pay more for an airgun but will not get more. Willing to get another one in a .22 platform
Pros:
Well balance, Safety feature at the rear of the stock, excellent price point. Excellent trigger pull. Excellent for target and General hunting purposes; I would highly recommend the Ruger Blackhawk
Cons:
Needs an improved front sight post. 4x32 fixed scope is horrible. Replace the scope and ring, I recomend a 3x9x40 optics

It was good... until it exploded
October 21, 2013
So basically I bought this gun, it worked fine the first few weeks, accurate enough etc.. Then one day I tried to shoot it and it exploded. Literally. I pulled the trigger and the gun exploded and now the gun is currently in 2 pieces rather than one. Not sure what to say about that.
Pros:
It shoots
Cons:
It exploded

Great value in a spring air rifle
July 8, 2013
This refurbished Ruger Blackhawk arrived in near new condition. The only way to tell it wasn't new was the two small R letters stamped on it. Otherwise, the stock, barrel and all visible parts were free from scratches or any other wear. After a couple of patches down the barrel to remove any manufacturing residue, it has been a straight shooter on backyard targets up to 25 yards (so far). Can't go wrong on this rifle, especially at this price. Even owning other air rifles at many multiples of this price, this one is a fun and accurate rifle for just pure plinking. Very happy with the purchase.
Pros:
Price, weight, balance, accuracy, sight clarity
Cons:
None so far

Great for plinking & pest
March 4, 2013
Bought this rifle about 2 and a half years ago from AGD. It's not a Diana 34, but pretty close. For the price, you can't go wrong. Even if you had to tune it with after market parts from Vortek, you'll come out ahead. Good shooter and also good with open sights. After a simple tune and lube, mine is shooting in the high 800 with 7.56 grain pellets that amounts to aprox. 13 foot pound muzzle energy. Beware this is not a toy. With a good scope from Leapers (about $ 45), you'll think you have an expensive rifle.
Pros:
Light weight and very easy to maintain. No problems with it being refurbished.
Cons:
Usually comes dry as a bone from factory so a lube is essential and will make it shoot a lot better.

Bang for the buck
February 27, 2013
For the price I paid, I could not believe what I am getting. I was initially looking on getting a Gamo Big Cat which I have shot and was relatively impressed. When I saw this refurb product with a Ruger name of which I highly regard as great products for reasonable price, I took a chance. When I received the gun, I was immediately impressed with the quality, weight, and finish of this product. I love the blued finish on the metal parts of the gun. The weight was hefty but I like it that way. It was not like the Gamo which are mostly plastic and very light weight. Stock was also solid considering it is made of plastic. There was no signs of any blemish or damage considering it was refurb. Now when I started shooting it, I was somewhat disappointed but turns out it was more of my learning curve. I tried different pellets from gamo, crosman, and later RWS. The rear sights were also hard to adjust in the beginning but I used the advice of one of the reviewer here to take it off and loosen the elevation screw. Now it makes adjustments like a charm. I also found that RWS was most consistent pellet for my gun. I ordered and installed Leapers UTG 4x32 airgun scope which is a great match to this rifle.
Pros:
Solid, well built, and everything spells quality.
Cons:
Nothing.

Really Nice Air Rifle
February 20, 2013
This is defiantly a nail driver. i punched a half inch rectangle hole in a tin can at 10 yard's using Crosman Destroyer Ex Pellet's.
Pros:
The Ruger Blackhawk and Airhawk are both basically a copy of a Rws34. It is easy to upgrade it, just google search ruger airhawk tuneup. Of course, I would only tune it after the warranty has expired in 30 Day's.
Cons:
None

Doesn't seem to be well built
February 13, 2013
The gun is sturdy and heavy. This indicated to me that is is well built. Not to mention that it is a Sturn Ruger gun. I had the gun about two weeks and shot less than 300 pellets through it before it completely failed. I purchased a refurbished rifle thinking that the techs would go through the gun thoroughly, test it thoroughly. I am now thinking that this is incorrect. No matter how much you paid for the gun, it should function longer than two weeks.
Pros:
Well built, solid wood stock and front and rear sights are well seen in any light.
Cons:
Hard to cock and seems to be lacking craftsmanship.

One Heck Of A Deal
February 12, 2013
Great deal! Fast shipping and the gun looks and performs like new. I can%u2019t tell it%u2019s refurbished. It loves RWS Hobby pellets. With a 4x32 scope mounted it can group smaller that dime size at 20 yards. Lots of power to, it put one of the light hobby pellets through a hard 3/8 piece of plywood at 10 yards no problem. You can%u2019t go wrong with this gun!
Pros:

Cons:

Ruger Blackhawk .177 pellet rifle
February 8, 2013
I ordered this gun on Saturday and received it on Friday. The gun looks good, shoots great, and is a fine looking rifle. It has the feel of a nice big bore rifle with a crisp trigger great iron sights and real nice synthetic stock. I believe it will last my lifetime (of course I was old when I got it).
Pros:
Great sights, stock, and looks like a new gun (not refurbished). I zeroed it in and got a 1" group at 15 yards. I believe a tree rat would be an easy target at that range. This gun shoots hard!
Cons:
It would not cock when I first tried. I called the mfg and customer service told me to lay it across my thighs (sights up), and hit the top of the barrel with my open hand. He said the locking ball gets stuck while it is in the warehouse. That fixed that issue but it was still hard to cock for a few shots. That seems to be getting better as I shoot it. This was not a big issue once I talked to mfg.

Quickly becoming my favorite shooter. Can't tell it's refurbished rifle.
December 6, 2012
Although I am an established Airgun Depot customer, I did not purchase this rifle but received it as a gift. Before shooting it, I looked it up on the website and thought for the price this rifle ought to perform right up there with my childhood "Red Ryder," what the heck, I'll put a few pellets through it and put it away. I was wrong. This rifle is rapidly becoming my favorite all around shooter and serves as a tested for accessories. First however, some constructive advice for new owners before taking the first shot: go through the rifle carefully and put a small drop of loc-tite on anything with threads that is accessible. Then completely remove the rear sight and re-assemble it with the rear adjustment knobbed screw screwed to the halfway point. It appears during the rebuild assembly technicians turn the knobbed elevation screw all the way in and the knob won't turn because it is bottomed out and under too much tension. Out of the box one cannot move the elevation knob up without a pair of pliers. After dis assembly, proper elevation screw adjustment and re-assembly the knobbed elevation wheel can be turned with finger pressure. Then came the acid test: hung a homemade sighting target at 20 feet (take an 8"1/2 x 11 sheet of copy paper with a stick on red dot in center) and fired 3 shots with equipped open sights and was rewarded with a dime sized group using Crosman wad cutters. The group was about 4 inches low but windage was perfectly centered. Brought elevation up 3 clicks on the adjustment knob and put ten pellets right on the targets center red dot. Then I tried some domed then pointed then hollow point pellets with same results. This is the first airgun I've owned that did not require some sighting adjustment when changing ammo. Then I hung another sighting target at 10 meters, still using open sights this rifle put 10 shot groups in the space of a 25 cent piece. If you get the chance buy one of these. Well built smooth trigger pull with a crisp trigger break comparable with my Remington 700 ADL 7 MM magnum. Yes, it's a bit loud but 100 shots resolves that issue and I am pretty sure the muzzle velocity is understated as advertised. Wipe it down at the end of the day with a rag with some any brand gun oil and you will have a rifle that should give years of shooting enjoyment.
Pros:
Bargain of a lifetime. Excellent build, quality, and an accurate out of the box shooter capable of digesting whatever ammo chambered.
Cons:
They sell fast and are constantly out of stock. This is a "must have," so check regularly for availability. When it's in stock, grab one, you won't be sorry.

Ruger Blackhawk refurbished for $59.99, Airgun Depot
October 25, 2012
Got the Blackhawk from Airgun Depot. This air rifle and the Air Hawk, are famous for one thing: accuracy. When I got mine a few days ago, it would not fire a close pattern. I was getting pancake size grouping no matter what I did. Then looking down the barrel I realized that the hole in the end of the front sight was not round. So I removed the front sight and guess what? I now get dime size groups at 10 meters. Haven't gone to 20 meters yet, I will do that tomorrow. I have an excellent scope on it that I removed from one of my other air guns. Hope this helps.
Pros:
Nice quality.
Cons:
Out of round front sight.

Cheap and awesome rifle!
October 25, 2012
This is my first .177 cal, normally I prefer to use .22 cal or .25, but I bought this rifle because I have a little pest problem with rats. The rifle is light in comparison with other .22 or .25 cal rifles. It feels solid, and is very accurate for target shooting for 25 yds. I have not tested ranges of 50 yds or more yet. The finish on the rifle is not the best. It feels like the buttstock is plastic, but it's fine for my purpose.
Pros:
Accurate, solid, and light.
Cons:
Too loud. If Ruger could manufacture a suppressor for this rifle, it would be nice to have.

Powerful and Accurate Spring Airgun
July 17, 2012
This is my first spring powered airgun. I have several pump and CO2 pellet guns. I took advantage of the sale price for this refurbished gun to upgrade to another level of airguns. Before purchasing, I did some research and found very positive reviews on the Ruger Blackhawk. When I received the Blackhawk via UPS, I was pleasantly surprised that for a refurbished gun, it looked brand new. After reading the manual and getting familiar with its operation, I cocked the gun and fired a few rounds. I spent some time adjusting the sights and started to at least hit the target. I also noticed that after each shot, there was smoke coming from the barrel. After more online reading, I found that dieseling is normal for a new spring airgun. It took about a hundred rounds to become used to this type of gun. If this is your first spring airgun, there is definitely a learning curve. The gun is louder than a pump-up gun and it does have recoil. The other part of learning how to shoot a spring airgun is to use the artillery hold. I learned after some more online research that the spring airgun needs to be held lightly to let the gun recoil freely to keep the pellet from being influenced off the desired target path before leaving the barrel. Without the proper shooting stance and a light hold, striking the target becomes very inconsistent. In fact, I was at one point considering returning the rifle thinking it was defective. The last point is to use domed pellets. Flat and pointed head pellets don't seem to work as well in this gun. In summary, if this is your first spring airgun experience, 1) expect a break in period, 2) learn the artillery hold, and 3) used domed pellets. Once I got through the learning curve, I become very satisfied with this rifle.
Pros:
Great value for the money. Powerful, accurate, and solidly built.
Cons:
Front sight is plastic but serves its purpose. Out of the box, I needed to tighten all of the attaching fasteners.

Excellent gun. Can't go any better for the new or used price.
July 5, 2012
Shoots straight. It has a big kick. Pellets stay just subsonic for the best speed/power/accuracy combo. I haven't shot PCP's but have shot plenty of springers. If you use the artillery hold this gun will do just what you want. I wish it came with a better scope but for the price what more can you ask.
Pros:
Top level for subsonic power. Well made all around good gun

June 29, 2012
I'm a lifelong shooter, both LR rifle and combat handguns. Got into air a few years ago, love air. Have collected many air rifles and air handguns. Some expensive, some, not as expensive. But, when I saw this Ruger for $59.95 I bit. I already have an RWS 34p and it's a fine rifle so I had to see what the clone of my RWS would be like. First of all, airgun depot shipped FAST. When the rifle arrived and I unpacked it I was expecting a refurb but the one I received appears to be brand new, un shot. I cleaned the rifle, the checked screws for tightness. All was well. I ran 200 cheap pellets through it with open sights. Then I got serious. Cleaned it again, screws were still tight, so I decided to shoot a serious group with the open sights. 10 shot grooup @ 10 meters was .753. Not too impressed, but not horrible AND I hate to shoot open sights on a rifle. Then I installed a simple, Centerpoint 3x9x40. The rifle sprayed no discernible pattern. I knew the scope and mounts were fine but rechecked. Still fine. Pulled out 9 types of pellets. Nine groups later, still no pattern, just a spray. Removed the scope, shot another .750" group with open sights. Installed another mount and scope, still spraying with all pellets. Installed 4 scopes and mounts and the rifle simply would not group. Checked barrel lockup and fit......perfect. Sooooooooo, a shooting buddy came by and I showed him the spray of pellets. He said, "wait a minute" and ran to his truck. Brought out a tin of RWS R 10 match 8.2 gr pellets and said try these. I shot a 10 shot .512" group @ 10 meters followed by a 10 shot .659" group at 20 meters followed by a .887" 10 shot group at 30 meters. My particular rifle LOVES the above mentioned pellet. The moral of the story is: This clone shoots just as accurately as my real RWS 34 at about 1/4 of the price.
Pros:
Accuracy, when you find the pellet it likes. My trigger was 26 oz out of the box and is now 24 oz. My particular rifle is NOT in the least hold sensitive it is a Quality built clone worthy of the Ruger stamp
Cons:
trigger has a bit of creep but not too bad

June 8, 2012
Great airgun, very accurate, can't beat it for the price. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the trigger guard and safety are plastic, but still the gun as a whole is well made and very sturdy, my son has already put 500 rounds through it shooting up soda cans. Very pleased with this air rifle.
Pros:

Very happy with my purchase
April 26, 2012
This gun is am amazing deal for the price. The mounted sites were perfect straight out of the box. It is not as loud as some reviews I have read claim it to be. I have only used lead pellets so far and it has not made the "crack" sound of supersonic and to me that is a plus since I am using it for pest control around my home. I have read reviews of it being faster then it claims to be and I was a bit worried. I have put about 100 pellets through it and I have had to tighten up all the screws in the gun several times... about every 20 shots. I think some locktite will take care of this. I don't know if being a refurb had anything to do with it or not. I mounted a centerpoint 4x16x40 on it that I picked up for $60 as an open box deal here that I Love. I highly recommend it.
Pros:
Sights are great. Price is great. very accurate.

I bought this for squirrels and grackles. It was really cheap so I didn't expect much. I was wrong. This is a great pellet gun for what I wanted it for. From 25 feet, with open sights, I can hit exactly what I am aiming at. Yesterday, I was showing it to my father-in-law, using a 1" piece of wood, with 2 half inch plywood backstops - and rws superdome pellets - from 25 feet. To show the accuracy, I shot at a knot in the wood about the size of a quarter - hit it dead center. Pellets went through the 1" wood with no problem. For the money, this is a steal. Get it. You won't regret it.
Pros:
Powerful, rugged, high-quality, accurate, fiber-optic sights are great
Cons:
scope ring mount seems flimsy

The gun I never gotI
January 21, 2012
Here is my experience so far: AD shipped the wrong item. I called them and explained to Tony that it was a birthday present and I would like the correct item shipped ASAP and since it was now out of stock( it was in stock when I ordered it) what could they do to help me. He checked stock and verified they where out and showing no re-stock date. He said they may not even get any again. Tony could only advise me to follow the standard returns procedure. I asked him to transfer me to customer service and he said that was not possible as they did not have direct lines but could leave a message for someone to call me back????? I asked Tony to have someone call me back ASAP and that never happened. I later e-mailed and made the same request and still nothing. I wanted my Nephew to have this gun for his birthday so I ordered a non-refurb that was in stock at $40 more than the refurb I origionally ordered. I noticed this morning that the refurb is back in stock. This has all taken place in six days and meanwhile the wrong item is on it's way back to AD via their RMA procedure. Airgun Depot dropped the ball on this one. I should have gotten a call and this should have been resolved that day. I'm wondering how this will turn out and if this review will get posted. I will be happy to do an update when this is resolved.

Hard hittin gun on the cheap
January 16, 2012
Been shooting this for about a week now and it's a kick in the pants. Been reading how to complete a tune job on it and can't wait to complete it. Loading the gun is a little effort to break the barrel, not sure what's going on, but once it's bent, it rather easy to get it cocked. The pellet chamber(?) is slanted and you have to remember to put the pellet in straight with the barrel. It's hold sensitive but I'm hoping that once this gun is broken in, that will change. Can't really tell how accurate it is, only shooting at the 3" spinner targets at 15 yards, so far so good. Even though this is a refurbished gun, it came looking like it was brand new. The scope and rings look new too, even though I haven't put them on yet. Was looking to get this at the local store for a long time, but I'm glad I waited.
Pros:
Plastic stock is well made Easy to site in (iron sites) Hard hitting
Cons:
Has a loud Twang from the springs So far, it's hold sensitive

Great pellet slinger, awful scope
June 18, 2011
The rifle is awesome. sights are easy to adjust and zero. The scope that came with it however, sucks. Tried attaching it to the rifle and a few shots later, the scope would pop off. Crappy mounting setup. Nice rifle, crappy scope

Wow. Great Rifle. Great Buy.

My first pellet rifle in 50yrs purchased for Grackle control. Well balanced, high quality feel, and high performance. Could not detect any detail of refurbishing. Really like the composite stock which I believe is critical to the nice balance, and definitely powerful. Grackles 1, tt 4 with open sights. Paypal. Shipped quickly. Tracking info. What could be easier.

Very satisfied
June 16, 2011
the gun was out of stock when i made the order, it took a phone call to find this out. but i still had it in one week from ordering. So im satisfied with that aspect. The gun itself is very impressive, right out of the box i was able to pick off a couple pigeons from 70 feet away with the open site, no adjustments needed. sweet deal, especially for refurbished.

Great Rifle for a Great Price
April 17, 2011
Excellent for a refurbished rifle. Open Sights are easily adjustable and work great. The scope takes some time to zero, however, I am putting 1/2 groupings at 25 yards dead on target. with flat head pellets, I can't wait to see what this thing can do with superdomes! Excellent power, and a slight kick. All in all a great gun to plink wth or keep nasty critters out of the garden!

Overall Great Rifle
April 11, 2011
After owning this refurbished rifle for several months my opinion has not changed much. I have shot a variety of pellets including Gammo Red Fire. The fiber optic sites are awsome. I prefer to shoot open site. My only problem was I had to put Loctite on the screw holding the rear site on as well as all the other screws. One day the gun literally fell apart in my hands after shooting about 30 rounds. It was an easy fix and I highly recommend this rifle.

Best value for the money. Get this refurbished air rifle. This air rifle is incredible in accuracy and in power. Excellent trigger. Initially I thought that the plastic stock would make the gun looks like a toy gun. On the contrary, the plastic stock is pretty tough material and provides excellent balance to the rifle during shooting. The shooting characteristic is very similar to the Ruger Airhawk which has a wooden stock. Because of the plastic stock in Blackhawk, you will feel a little more recoil, which may be good if you want a little challenge.

no problem w/ Refurbished Ruger... although it did come w/ a torn rubber butt end which I didn't notice since I don't get to use it much. Umarex replace it for me - way to go Umarex! Its a solid rifle, no problem yet. Got a cleaning kit as its a keeper.

Refurbished? wow....This rifle shoots better than my old one that was purchased new! Hard hitter. It shot tight groups at 75yds with Crosman Premier hollow points. Read the other good reports, they are true. You can trust Airgun Depot to really give you a good deal on refurbished products. It was packed very well and shipped fast.

I thought my previous gun purchase was fun, but the Ruger on a scale of 1 to 10 is a 20! Its hefty, well designed and well worth the price, even considering the extra cost of shipping outside the continental 48. Sites are accurate and easy to adjust. I'm learning a lot about shooting with the scope. Excellent addition to my collection. Good on ya mates!

I have had this airgun for 2 weeks now, put about 200 rounds through it. Great value for the refurbished asking price! Packs a wallup for sure! Hard hitting, easily reaches the 1000 fps claimed. I like to target shoot, and with gamo wad cutters this rifle punches a perferct circle nearly every time. I'll say it again, great value for the price!

Got the gun last week and took it out this past weekend. Took some CORBON cleaner to the barrel and last patch out was clean. I shot the BSA elite, Crossman destroyer, Crossman premier hollow point, Gamo Magnum pellets, sighting the open sights. The gun was most accurrate with the BSA elite pellet. Now the scope. I dont care for the low mounts due to the front sight showing up in the scope which kinda throws off my concentration. So I put some high mounts on the gun first. Then I put the scope into the mounts. It was a cinch getting it all lined up. The gun grouped really well with the BSA elites. One thing I do to insure a tight fit on the mounts to a gun is change out the galvanized bolts for stainless steel ones. This keeps all tight without the worry of breaking or stripping the bolt. Much more accurate with the forearm hand just in front of the trigger guard...anywhere else and I had the ole "where did that one go" ? First time out with a remanufactured gun I wasnt too sure if it was going to be up to par. Now that I got to try it out I have to say THANK YOU FOR THE SAVINGS. I also took it hunting and what an easy gun to shoulder and fire. No problems hunting.

Great gun had trouble with the scope it came with put on a Leaper's sight and found that this gun can put pellets in a very tight group on a machine rest with a soft sand bag under the gun half inch groups at twenty five feet. all you need to do is make sure your scope mount is locked down tight and sighted in. solid value !
