INCLUDES RWS 4X32 SCOPE AND MOUNTS- $150 Value

When RWS first introduced the Model 48, we expected it to become a classic. What was unexpected was its rapid rise to classic status among knowledgeable air gunners. At 1110fps in .177 (750 mps), this rifle propels pellets at .22 rim-fire velocities! This tremendous power is generated by the use of a very robust spring piston power plant cocked by a side lever action. The action is mounted into an extended beech stock to reduce felt recoil and to aid in achieving accuracy potential. Not designed for the faint hearted, this is one impressive air arm, both in performance and presence. It fulfills its purpose as a potent, full-size sporting airgun suitable for either pest control or field target shooting, yet it does so with both balance and grace. The substantial one-piece stock allows for comfortable offhand shooting and adds to the overall sensation that the Model 48 is a force to be reckoned with. The rifle is fitted with a finely rifled, fixed barrel system loaded via sliding breech opening. Its full accuracy potential can be realized by the use of a quality RWS airgun scope mounted to the scope rail. Other standard features include an adjustable trigger, an adjustable rear sight, and an automatic safety. Lifetime warranty.

4.5 out of 5

I inherited this gun and began to shoot it around at squirrels and chipmunks and plink with it- not realizing its capabilities. It is one extremely accurate pellet gun in .177 caliber. I can still get consistent dime sized groups at 30 yards with it, not to mention power. I can easily down countless squirrels with it and rabbits, however not suitable for raccoons or anything bigger. I would recommend though that certain brand air rifles can only shoot their pellet well- this is one of them. I haven't shot many other pellets with it, but the ones i did shoot were significantly worse. I would recommend using RWS pellets- and for the best power and accuracy combo- id recommend the RWS Super domes. Overall, great gun.
Pros:
accurate, powerful, consistent- great small game hunter
Cons:
fairly pricy

Beyond expectation
October 3, 2013
After about ten rounds to get the feel of the rifle. Every group shot at 15 yards is dime to nickel size. Slowly working the groups towards the X, but with any technique at all good groups are easy. My wife , who what's never held a rifle before had her third five round group the size of a quarter with one fly away. The first shots smell like burned oil from dieseling but accuracy has been great from the first shot. Trigger I kinda light so instruct new shooters not to touch the trigger till the gun is on target. Could not have made a better choice in a pellet rifle. the stock is basic but holds well, wood is nice . If you have been mulling it over......BUY THE THING NOW.
Pros:
Easy to achieve impressive accuracy. Feel solid and exudes quality feel. Just looks fantastic.
Cons:
Mildly heavy Causes squirrels to have nightmares May have to get the wife one .

ordered my rws 48 with the standard scope. had the scope mounted and dialed in 5 shots later. 40 yard VERY tight groups ( quarter and less). dropped 8 squirrels the first weekend. one at about 75yds.once you leard how to control the recoil with a light touch and grip the rifle is very consistant. you have to let the rifle float in your grip to counter act the spring.once your use to that and dont try to muscle it you'll love it

RWS 48 Air Rifle Review
February 20, 2012
Rifle seems to be well built and appears to be of high quality. It was packaged perfectly and delivered as advertised. I have only had an opportunity to shoot 1 dozen groups or so, and so far have not achieved the accuracy I anticipated - groups varying at 25 yards to as much a 1 1/2" to 2". I ordered a wide variety of high quality pellets yesterday and anticipate that I will get much improved performance after testing various pellets. My expectations may be too high as I have been shooting a very high quality English made precharged pneumatic .22 that will virtually put one pellet on top of another at the same distances. Overall, the order was shipped as advertised and very timely. I'm certain that in the end, once I get enough time to work out its preferences, the purchase will proved to be very satisfactory
Pros:
I like the heft, feel, and obviously high quality construction
Cons:
So far, I have not been able to get the groups I anticipated.

RWS 48 w/4x32 scope
March 19, 2008
This airgun is one bad mama-jama! I bought it in.177 and i only got to shoot it 3 times in the back yard before the neighbor called the cops. This gun is very powerful and very loud for a pellet rifle. She told the cops that I was shooting a 22 rifle! I showed the officer my Model 48 and shot it once so he could see that it wasn't a 22 rifle. We ended up talking guns for about 20 minutes then he said he was going to order one! I can't wait till this weekend so I can sight in the scope and put a bi-pod on it.

A very well built air rifle. Typical of German workmanship. Shoots very well. Accurate and needs a fairly strong arm to handle as the rifle is rather heavy for some. There is nothing that I can pin point to fault this rifle. For the price I paid and what I get, I would consider it as excellent. I can surely recommend it to those who want a powerful air rifle. I am very satisfied.

I got this gun as a first step to get back into airgunning, and as my first "high powered adult airgun". So far I have put about 500 shots through it since getting it. Still learning the gun and what ammo it likes, but fit and finish are great. Also worth mentioning is the fact that RWS or Umarex (whoever is actually making the gun) has switched to a steel scope rail, and a better stop pin in their mounts. I am told that in the past RWS guns had some real problems with 'scope creep€™, which hopefully are taken care of now.
