Description - RWS 48:
When RWS first introduced the Model 48, we expected it to become a classic. What was unexpected was its rapid rise to classic status among knowledgeable air gunners. At 1110fps in .177 (750 mps), this rifle propels pellets at .22 rim-fire velocities! This tremendous power is generated by the use of a very robust spring piston power plant cocked by a side lever action. The action is mounted into an extended beech stock to reduce felt recoil and to aid in achieving accuracy potential. Not designed for the faint of heart, this is one impressive air arm, both in performance and presence. It fulfills its purpose as a potent, full-size sporting airgun suitable for either pest control or field target shooting, yet it does so with both balance and grace. The substantial one-piece stock allows for comfortable offhand shooting and adds to the overall sensation that the Model 48 is a force to be reckoned with. The rifle is fitted with a finely rifled, fixed barrel system loaded via sliding breech opening. Its full accuracy potential can be realized by the use of a quality RWS airgun scope mounted to the scope rail. Other standard features include an adjustable trigger, an adjustable rear sight, and an automatic safety. Lifetime warranty.

This is a solid air rifle. If you are looking for a quality, intermediate level air rifle, this is it. It has a beautiful wood stock and nice bluing. The Hawke scope is easy to install and dial in. i have no reservations in recommending this air rifle.
Pros:Accuracy is aided by the upgraded Hawke scope.
Cons:Heavy and hard to cock. Would add that these two cons after repeated use become less an issue. Enjoy!

Want something that slams the ammo home? Look here. It's a 9lb+ carry, but if you aren't moving around alot, it's not an issue. I like it for the reducing the recoils. Heavy pellets 10-11g) is no problem here. 50 yards...no problem either. Add the UTG mount for this airgun, and a magnum rated scope, and you won't have any problems with taking small quarry.
Cons:The weight is a function of the design. Most of the better ones are a little heavier.

I have had mine for several years and it shoots right on target out to 35 yards plus. The wind will affect light pellets so you have to understand it is vulnerable to given conditions but it is not the gun. I might buy another one just to have a spare!

Beautiful gun that looks like a substantial rifle. I took it apart after about 100 shots and after making sure it didn't suffer from mortality, in order to accurize it to my taste. Honed the air chamber to a glass finish and polished all moving parts. Smoothed out the ends of the spring and lubed the internals with molly grease. Worked the trigger to make it better that it already was (which was quite good to start with) but I wanted a bit lighter pull and very crisp let off and that is what I got. The gun achieves full potential after about 700 shots. I saw it getting more accurate as the shot count rose. Nothing changed in my shooting skills, the gun just got more accurate and consistent.

This gun is so kick butt. I had the gamo hunter extreme first then returned it after finding that it was an extremely powerful piece of crap that rattled itself and scopes apart. It couldn't consistently hit the side of a barn at 10 yards. BUT...the RWS 48 .177 that I returned it for sighted in quickly. The 48 is so accurate, it holds dime sized groups at 35 yards with no problem. I shot 50 shots from 35 yards and EVERY one of them landed slammed into a dime sized group. This thing shot through a metal cabinet and left a hole the size of a bic pen. I highly recommend this gun to anyone who wants quality, power, and accuracy. It is so amazing, I would do a commercial for it.

arrived on time in excellent condition. Sighted quickly with several rounds. very accurate at 40 yds. It is a heavier gun so not a good choice for small children. Scope is excellent and easy to mount. It has a high quality feel and performance. It lives up to "you get what you pay for". I am left handed and the right sided cocking lever poses no problems.

I could not be happier. It's accurate, and hard hitting. The scope is more than I expected, and the included shooters kit was a convenience when I needed it. It's a no brainer!
