This was my first purchase of a "dot" scope. I never mounted it on a rifle because the dot is distorted looking and is not round in shape on the target. I was thinking it could be used in place of a scope. It could be used in place of a scope but I don't think the accuracy would be there for shooting a group or where you would need pin point accuracy. Probably best used on a tactical rifle where rapid sighting is preferred over pin point accuracy. This is just my opinion. I read similar reviews but thought I might get lucky and get one with an accurate dot that wasn't distorted and oblong looking. I have no plans to send it back due to the "get what you pay for" cost of the sight.
