No doubt many of you probably own Remington firearms. But did you know that Remington started making air guns in 1928? The Remington Express is their introductory air rifle for the 21st century. This version with the synthetic stock is especially useful.

Since the sun doesn't always shine when you want to shoot, a stock that doesn't need pampering when the weather turns nasty means you can use it anytime. Also you don't have to be afraid of rough handling. Unlike a wood stock, this synthetic takes field use in stride.

Most manufacturers quote their air gun velocities with super-light alloy pellets, but Remington quotes them with lead pellets -- the same lead pellets you'd use in your own gun. So you should be getting about the same velocities the manufacturer states.

economical, no frills, accurate pest control
December 17, 2016
I owned an earlier version of this gun with the fancy wooden stock and no fixed sights. The scope on this gun could not be kept zeroed. When I first got it I had to shim the scope to hit a piece of notebook paper at 30 feet. It was necessary to sight it in every time I shot it. The gun had no fixed sights so the scope was the only option. When the spring finally broke I decided to replace it with the cheaper composite stock with fixed fiber optic sights. When the gun arrived I put the scope in a drawer. I think the shock caused by firing a break barrel puts too much stress on the attachments for the scope. I cocked and loaded the gun and head shot the pesky red squirrel that had chewed through my bird seed supply with the first pellet out of the barrel (no adjustment of the sights required). The next day I got his mate sitting at the top of a tall pine tree--another head shot--second pellet out of the gun. Both shots were through and through. This gun is very accurate and hits like a truck. I love the fiber optic sights. They really pop in low light.
Pros:
inexpensive, easy to use, accurate, hard hitting with great fixed sights.
Cons:
none

cheap accurate hard hitting no frills pest control

I owned a seven year old fancier version of this gun with the wooden stock and scope. There were no fixed sights on the gun. I could never keep the scope zeroed. I had to shim it and repeatedly adjust it to hit anything at all. The spring finally broke and I ordered this gun as a replacement. I picked it because it featured fixed sights along with the optional scope. When the gun arrived I took it out of the box, put the scope in a drawer, cocked and loaded it and head shot one of the red squirrels that have been plaguing my bird feeder with the first pellet through the gun using the original factory setting of the fixed sights. The next day I did it again. Two shots, two dead squirrels and no adjustments.
Pros:
Cheap, accurate, easy to use and hits like a truck. LOVE the fiber optic fixed sights. They really "pop"
Cons:
none

Amazing! Powerful!
June 2, 2016
This gun has amazed me! I have this in .22 caliber. Let me tell you, this gun is just an absolute beast! I started out using the Crosman Premier HollowPoints in 14.3gr. The gun shot those very accurately and with power. But I wanted to use a pellet I knew would cleanly penetrate a skull of groundhogs. So I went on a limb and tried the Crosman red flight powershot penetrators. They are a 16.7gr non lead pellet. The Express shoots those pellets with accuracy and amazing power! I've already taken three groundhogs and an opossum with this rifle using those rounds! If you're looking for a rifle under $200 that will deliver power and accuracy then this is a very good choice!
Pros:
Accurate, Powerful

Great air gun
July 16, 2014
This rifle replaces a Crosman 760 I've had for many many years. I've taken squirrels and rabbits using a polymag hunting pellet in .177. This shoots 1000 fps using lead pellets. Well built.
Cons:
The only con I guess is that the rifle is actually a Crosman Vantage which you can get for less than the $149 sold on most air gun sites. I suppose your paying for the Remington name I guess.
