The Ruger Mark I shoots .177 cal. alloy pellets at 600 fps. This break barrel pistol also features a contoured grip, a spring piston and a rifled barrel. The pistol is very easy to cock with the included cocking assist handle which can be left on while shooting. This is a very nice pistol for the price. We spent some time with it on our range and were pleasantly surprised with how the pistol performed. The pistol feels very good in your hand and the weight is just about right. You can plink for a long time without getting tired. You can also mount a scope or red dot on this pistol as it has dovetail rails on it. We did notice a lot of excess oil in the barrel so we recommend you clean the barrel before shooting.

I had a lot of fun with my Mark 1 and shot a lot of rats on my boat with it.

Pros
Cheap, light weight, and comfortable in the hand.

Cons
Bulky

Plenty of power for a spring powered air pistol. Cocking is an effort. Sights are adequate. I need the cocking extension to comfortably cock mine. If left on, it degrades the accuracy. This is this guns biggest draw back. It does have that spring gun recoil, and that does hurt the accuracy some. It has good power for a pistol, which keeps you limited to small game hunting. I do not use this on rabbits or squirrels as it is not accurate enough.

Pros
Cost to power

Cons
Accuracy Ease of cocking Sights Harsh recoil

I bought this Ruger Mark I along with the Benjamin Trail NP and the (not-so-good) Gamo P900. While I like the Benjamin and its Nitro Piston a little more, the Ruger has similar accuracy and almost as much power. As for shooting too low, it depends on the distance and on the pellets; at 10 Meters, some pellets group low, some group high, and some are right in the 10 ring. Sight in with different pellets for different types of targets at different distances.

Pros
A solid substantial pistol; well made.

Cons
Gas piston technology may be better, but this is a good spring piston option.

Well after all the reviews on accuracy I have to say the factory tech who refurbished this one must have listened. The one I got was a little left of target, three clicks and I'm zeroed in. Everything seems just fine to me. I too have a 15 plus air gun collection and this one ranks right up there. Lighter then Benjamin NP I leave the cock assist on both and hit bulls eye with proper shooting

Pros
Cheap in cost power

Cons
Loud

This is a nice pistol that shoots well and is easy to cock. I have found that leaving the cocking piece on the gun at all times gives you the extra leverage needed to easily cock the gun and does not affect accuracy. The pistol I received shoots better than I do, however the groups are quite low. I attempted to remedy this by lowering the front sight but it is still shooting low so I fitted it with a red dot scope and this addition makes it easy to hit lolly-pops at about 15 feet off hand.

Pros
ergonomic grip, easy to cock, accurate and fun to shoot

Cons
shoots low and it is a little on the heavy side however it weighs about as much as a full size center fire hand gun so it is good for practice

First pistol I received had to be returned because of non functional action. Was returned and the replacement arrived today. The new one had a crack in the area of the hinge but did not affect the action. It shot low as stated in other reviews. It is powerful and should be usable as is. Ruger (Umarex) needs to watch their quality control closer.

Pros
Power, weight

Cons
Quality control

After cleaning both Ruger Mark one air pistols. I test fired them in my basement range. They shot extremely low as has been stated in other reviews. I noticed that both pistols had a similar defect. Both refurbished pistols I purchased had loose screws. The grip screws were so loose that you could turn them with your little finger. By placing it in the hole of the grip and rotating your finger. The barrel screw was loose enough that if you brushed it with your fingertip before removing the grips it would rotate. After un-mounting the grip and tightening the barrel screw putting Loctite blue on the grip screws and after remounting the grip. I torqued the screws down. The gunshot nearly to point of aim. This may help others who have complained about the inability to adjust the sights enough to correct point of aim. I don't have enough pellets through either gun to check for accuracy. I have not adjusted the sights, and will not do so until the pistol settles down. The groups do appear to be closing to an acceptable level. But this is very early. They appear to have good power. Once the dieseling stops it will be easier to evaluate accuracy. But they seem to have the potential for a good plinker maybe more.

Pros
Power, accuracy?

Cons
More attention needed proper assembly. Good gun suffers from poor attention to detail.
