With so many PCPs to choose from, it can be a difficult, and sometimes even daunting task to choose the right one for you. Wooden or synthetic stock? Carbine, bullpup, or classic rifle? What caliber? There are many questions to be answered to narrow down the choices.

Questions to Ask Yourself
- What is your budget?
- Do you have a preferred brand?
- What is its purpose?
- What type of stock or style do you prefer?
- What type of action do you prefer?
- Big bore or small bore?
- Simple or modular?
In this blog we’ll address the question of your budget, because that is the largest deciding factor. We would encourage you not to waste your time considering airguns that are outside your budget. Regardless of what your answer is to any of these questions, there will be a great number of choices to consider.
Low Budget Options

Yes, the lesser the funds, the lesser the options, but don’t be discouraged there are some amazing budget PCPs available. Benjamin, Air Venturi, AirForce, and Hatsan USA along with many others have amazing offerings for this category.
Hatsan has multiple caliber options in the Vectis, Zylox (regulated or not), Flash QE Regulated, the Hatsan Sortie Tac, and the NeutronStar. If your preference is Hatsan, there are a few budget options.
Next up is Air Venturi with the Avenge-X Classic, Avenge-X Wood Stock, Avenge-X Bullpup. That’s not all! The Avenger is an oldie but a goody, and lastly the brand new Ascent. All these are available in .177, .22, and .25 calibers. Let’s not forget the new Alpha, this one is available in .22 only.
From Umarex there’s the Gauntlet SL available in multiple calibers, and in .22 the Origin and the Notos. We’re going to stop there, but there is no shortage of budget pcps to choose from! As you can see, the questions from the list above will still need to be answered, but this is a start.
High End Airguns

For those of you that have less budget limitations, you can still purchase a budget friendly PCP; there’s no rule against that! Heck, buy one for you and your friends! Let’s talk about some of the higher end options for now.
It is no surprise FX Airguns leads with the most options with RAW (Rapid Air Worx) and AirForce close behind. One option from FX is the Impact M4 in .357. This one is also available in a compact version, offering other calibers. The King is available in multiple calibers and stocks.
Rapid Air WORX offers the HM1000 in many versions and calibers as well as combinations options. Another great PCP is the Raw Micro Hunter also available in multiple calibers and a few options.
Then, AirForce, of course, has some offerings worth considering, as well! The Texan is available in many calibers, a carbine option and other versions.
Regardless of your budget, the options seem sometimes endless! So how do you decide? I’d like to think we’ve narrowed it down some for you, but there are more answers to be given before we come to a conclusion. Stay tuned for the next blog to answer the next questions.
