What makes an airgun the greatest? Power? Accuracy? Distance? Finesse? What are the latest and greatest PCPs? We understand it is a matter of opinion, but we’ll take a few minutes to cover some of the most popular ones.
Diana Outlaw Gen 2
The Diana Outlaw Gen 2 is one that has impressed many. You can add this one to your arsenal in either .177 or .22 calibers. It’s known for its ability to deliver, one hole accuracy, power, distance and finesse. The checkered wooden stock is easy on the eyes and comfortable for the shooter. Weighing under seven pounds, it’s not a chore to haul around.
Achieving a consistent shot string along with accuracy is simple because it’s regulated. The Diana Outlaw produces a max velocity of 1,050 fps in .177 and in 985 fps in .22. There are many justifiable reasons why this one is one of the latest and greatest PCPs.
AirForce Tex Rex
Onto the next, the AirForce Tex Rex is available in .457 or .510 calibers in stadard forms and .510 in carbine. If you haven’t heard of this one yet, you may want to climb out from under the rock you’re under, this was one of the most popular big bore air rifles in 2025!
The Tex Rex is meant for airgunners seeking POWER! In .457 the standard produces up to 1,000 FPE with a 400 grain slug and in .510 you can expect up to 1100 FPE using a 620 grain slug.
The carbine, remember, is only available in .510 caliber and with the shorter 24.75 inch Lothar Walther barrel is producing 750 FPE with a 385 grain slug. Both platforms and calibers produce significantly enough power to take down very large game, like an elk and more!
FX Leopard
The FX Leopard gives the consumer a few choices. The FX Leopard – Bottle, the FX Leopard – Tube, or the FX Leopard Composite. The bottle option is, of course, going to produce a higher shot count than the other versions.
The Leopard is available in a compact, sniper, or standard version as well as in .177, .22, .25, and .30 calibers. With so many options to choose from, it is important to know what your expectations are. There is a significant cost difference, maybe that would be what helps you decide.
The shot count of the bottle compact version in .177 is 400! You may be able to shoot for a week straight without filling. It has the most amazing shot count but it is also the most costly. The compact tube option has a max shot count in .177 of 150 per fill. It is significantly less but is still a great amount!
The last option, the compact composite version gives a max shot count of 150 as well and this one gives you the option to purchase it in black or Flat Dark Earth. Many things to weigh out and consider with the FX Leopard and one worth considering.
Macavity Arms Agility MA2 & MA3
Here’s a budget offering. Macavity Arms is a fairly new company and has made quite a splash in the market with the Macavity Arms MA2. Then they brought us the Macavity Arms MA3, both platforms are available in .22, .25, and .30 calibers, the MA2 is also available in .177. The choice is yours to opt for the standard or long version, each having their cons and pros.
They are regulated and in .177, the MA2 has a max shot count of 180 per fill. The lightweight, rigid, AR-style stock allows a great platform for multiple hunting orientations. The energy and accuracy produced only proves it! In .177 the max FPE is 14.75, in .22 it’s 29.5, in .25 it’s 44.3, and finally in .30 you can get up to 81 foot pounds of energy.
The MA3 has an externally adjustable regulator and it does not require you to degas the airgun to increase or decrease the regulator pressure. That is a feature not found on many airguns. The shot count on this one will of course vary depending on its settings.
2025 was a great year for airgunners and it’s only getting better! These are a few of the greatest airguns of 2025, it is now 2026 and there is plenty more to come!
