Must-Have Accessories: PCP Edition

When shooting PCP airguns, that is pre-charged pneumatic airgun, there are a few accessories that are a must-have! In this blog we’re going to take a look at a few of those so you can be properly prepared to get the most out of yours.

Just A Few Accessories

The most important thing is an air source, a pcp is powered by high pressure air and without that, you won’t be shooting at all. There are different types of air sources like the Air Venturi MK5 Hand Pump from Hill, this is the most inexpensive air source but will require more energy and effort from the shooter to utilize.

No worries there are many more options that require less energy, you can get a carbon fiber tank from the Air Venturi Mini Wingman, being the lowest in cost, to a little larger tank like the Air Venturi Wingman.  The advantages of a tank, of reasonable size that is, are the portability and fast fill capabilities.

The other option is a compressor. There are many compressors to choose from as well. The one that will be the easiest on your wallet is a portable compressor like the JTS COMP 1, this may be a better option for you if you’re in the market for a renewable air source that is portable. If you’re not concerned about portability, the Air Venturi EVO-310, this will be capable of filling most tanks and guns.

Not Every PCP Is the Same

Aside from air, the must-have accessories for your pcp vary. If you have the Beeman Chief II Plus it comes equipped with open sights, a scope then is not a must but is certainly doable! If you have the JTS Airacuda Standard, it would be wise to mount a scope like the JTS Shadow Series 2-16X50 on the optics rail for the best accuracy!

The last “must-have” accessory is ammunition! PCP’s are now capable of shooting pellets and/or slugs. Of course there are different purposes for both. There is designated hunting, plinking, and competition pellets and slugs, what you must have depends on your intentions.

The Zan ELR Hyperline Slugs are great for long distance while the Predator JSB Hades are perfect for hunting. Regardless of the ammunition you choose it is most certainly a must have!

Must-Have Is A Need

What about a rest or a bipod? Is a rest a must have? That will depend on the shooter. If you shoot from the bench then yes, it is a must have, but if you shoot free-handed then the answer is the only other one, no.

The list goes on and on as far as accessories that would enhance your pcp shooting experience. Rather than writing a book, we’ll point out a few and give you what we believe a good reason or two why they make shooting your pcp better!

To Better Your Shooting Experience

Did you guess targets would be the next subject to talk about? If you did, you were right. A target can be pretty much anything! You can just shoot at a dirt pile and call it good, but an Exploding Golf Ball or the Air Venturi Speed Silhouettes would make the pcp experience so much better! Even though there is a little reaction to the dirt pile, the reactions from the targets are more fulfilling!

Along with everything listed here, there are a multitude of accessories for every type of airgunner alive! What is a must have with a pcp will vary from airgunner to airgunner, it’s important for you to measure your needs to your wants.
