A well-made, powerful, accurate pistol. At different distances, some pellets shoot high; some pellets shoot low, and some are in the 10 ring. Take some time to sight in various pellets at different distances for different types of targets..

For the price, a good air pistol!
July 9, 2014
As so many have said on video reviews and on here and other sites, this gun shoots low, however, I have found, (as others have) that shooting the gun with the cocking assist on the barrel seems to create a severe turbulence that deflects the pellet downward. The gun is a bit bulky, but having the Nitro Piston power plant inside makes up for it. This gun does well with most Crosman pellets and RWS Match R-10 are very accurate in this gun. Trigger is an issue as most inexpensive guns are, but this one can be taken apart easily enough and some dressing done to the contact points to allow a more reliable and predictable break. Part of this issue is that the sear actually lifts the piston release arm before allowing it to drop away and release the piston for power generation. This simple angle could easily be fixed by Crosman to give a more even and consistent trigger pull/release.
An excellent plinking pistol for the backyard as well as some small game pest elimination.(up to 20 yds).
The trigger assembly needs some minor engineering changes, that should not affect the price more than a few bucks, and most would gladly pay another $15 for a better trigger. The cocking assist tube either needs to be fitted with baffles or changed in internal configuration to stop the downward deflection of pellets shot with the assist attached to the barrel.

Big heavy powerful
June 30, 2014
This gun is big , it is twice as big as my Benjamin 22 pump up pistol and is twice as heavy. Which is feels pretty good. It feels heavy like a real gun, which it is but it does not feel cheap. It is way more gun for the price then I ever expected. It is much heavier then my crosman .177 pump up. It is a little hard to cock but the power and punch from this gun is well worth it. I would love to get this in a .22 or .25 cal. Any one who loves pellet guns will love this gun. I shoot mostly at 25 ft. In my basement , into a .22 bullet trap. I have shot 3 - 400 rounds through this gun with out any problems. Like I said it is a lot of gun for the money. The only problem that I have found is the rear sight. Even at 25 ft. With the sight at it's fullest elevation it still shoots considerably low , the barrel has a slight downward angle which makes it impossible for the rear sight to raise high enough to correct the angle even at 25 ft. Needless to say at any farther distances it would be just a wild guess as to the elevation. I made some changes to the sight that allowed the sight to be adjusted with more elevation. Even though I did make some changes it is maxed out at 25 ft. With out getting into machine shop work I could not get any more out of this sight the way it is. This gun deserves and very well should have a greater range to the rear sight. It does not need to be made better. It does not need to be made more expensive. It just needs to be able to raise up higher. Other then that it is a wonderful addition to my collection. It really like the feel , the weight and the power from a pistol. As far as the grips go they feel good to me. Any one who would complain about the grips must remember the price of this gun , a custom made pair of grips could cost as much as the price of this gun. The cocking is a little hard but that is how it develops so much power. Once the barrel is cocked down it is very easy to insert the pellet and snap the barrel into place. My other pump up pistols are some what more difficult to load. With the Trail NP one break of the barrel pop the pellet in, aim and fire. Fix the sight and get 5 stars.
Lots of power , nice feel and balance, feels solid, fun to shoot. Nice fiber optic sights very easy to see. Easy to load break barrel.
The rear sight does not elevate enough. It always aims low even with the sight at it's fullest elevation even at 15 feet.

benjamin trail np pistol
February 9, 2014
I bought this pistol, even though there were a lot of negative reviews. The first thing I did was lube all the moving linkages on the cocking mechanism. This made it a lot easier to cock. Then I started shooting it. And just like a lot of the reviews said, it shot low. I noticed that when the gun was fired the barrel would drop from the pressure,(break open a little). I then tightened the pivot screw just to the next notch and this problem seems to be solved. It doesn't shoot low anymore. I do not shoot it with the cocking aid on, as a matter of fact I don't use the cocking aid at all. When I lubed the linkages, that made it a lot easier to cock the gun. The trigger is not very good, but I put a different screw in it that is a little longer than the stock screw and adjusted it, and that seems to help a lot. If you choose to try the longer screw, be aware there is a fine line of adjustment to have the safety mechanism still function properly, or function at all. Anyway, I hope this helps someone that may be having these issues with this gun.
The rear sight needs to be tighter right to left sight picture, that would help the grouping.

Best Pistol in it's class or under $100!!
January 18, 2014
This is a pretty powerful and quite pistol! The accuracy with the supplied sight is terrible, adjusted rear sight to the limit it still wants to shoot high, some have taken down the front sight to compensate I hear but I just bought a Tasco red dot scope and it seems to be pretty accurate now, remember this is not a $500 pistol.
Powerful, quite and pretty accurate with a after market something.... I believe this pistol to be of very good quality and really like the feel of the pistol. With all that in mind I don't think you will be disappointed!
Sights are terrible!

Great little plinker
July 20, 2013
Bought this .177 pistol originally to take out problematic chipmunks quietly and not alarm our neighbors. The word must have gotten out in the chipmunk community after one was dispatched, haven't seen another since. In the meantime this .177 has been such a fun plinker. With the ammo availability issues of larger caliber ammo, this .177 is a very fun way to still get in some target acquisition in our own backyard. Will definitely be getting a few more of these and possibly a rifle model.
The break barrel assist is nice, the whole system is done well.
I should have bought 2!

Great gun for the money
June 8, 2013
I have shot 100 shots through gun and I love it. Replaced the rear sight with a cheep red dot and this gun is very accurate. Loads of fun. Would have given it a 5 star rating, but the rear sights that came with it were not very good. Plenty of power.
Heck of a gun for the money. Very powerful, and accurate.
Rear sights blow....

Definitely worth the money
May 16, 2013
Took it out into the desert & fired a hundred pellets. At first it was tough to break the barrel. After 25 or so shots it became easy. Its very quiet with hardly any recoil. As for accuracy I was consistently hitting a frying pan about 40 yards away. No real complaints other than I would have liked it even better if it was a little lighter. It's finished quite nicely & you can't find a better one for the price.

Love This Odd Gun
May 15, 2013
It%u2019s been a month and 250 rounds since I bought this pistol, and it has been an interesting time. After the first 50 rounds with a bench rest I went to the hardware store to get a longer rear sight set screw because I could not raise the original far enough at 10 yards. The new screw worked great for getting the pistol on target (no, it is not a lack of power issue %u2013 this pistol has bottle breaking power at 10 yards). I own a 177 Nitro XP Trail rifle with about 2000 rounds, so I had to try this pistol %u2013 I was amazed at the ease of the break action with the extension. After about 200 rounds I removed the extension to test the break action, and decided the extension was not needed. However, I then found that I had to readjust the screw down to the point that I switched back to the original rear sight set screw, and even cranked that one down a good turn or two to get it on target. I have not put the extension back on yet to see if it makes a difference %u2013 it has such a perfect fit I find it hard to believe that it will. Why there was such a large change (4 inches)? Not sure yet. Through the entire process of getting used to this pistol I was very happy with the consistency of accuracy %u2013 shooting high or low it always made tight groups. Note, before shot 1 I brushed the barrel clean, and I use 11 grain pellets. Love this gun. Gonna buy more for my brothers. Can%u2019t believe the price.
Very accurate, easy action, excellent price, latest technology.
Wish the factory would polish the trigger sheer.

Nice gun
May 15, 2013
When I first opened the box yesterday I was shocked at how large this gun is. I was surprised at how light it is. The reason it is so light is the composite grip and stock. The grip is very large, would be hard for small hands to hold it. The balance is front heavy as the grip is hollow. I attached the barrel break and the added weight on the front actually made the grip push into your hand a little and made it seem more even weight wise. Strange but true. So I cocked it and loaded it. It is much easier to cock with the break on it but it is fairly easy without it as well. (much easier than my TrailNP .22 rifle) Fired the first shot and wow, where did the pellet go? After a few more shots I found it to be very high and to the left. I adjusted the top adjustment down on the rear sight about 1/2 way, and then had to adjust the horizontal almost all the way to the right. Did not take long and this baby is dead on even at 30 -40 yards. It did take about 150 rounds until it felt broken in. I used Crosman Premier pointed and also Hollow point and they hit pretty hard. Tried some Raptors and while speed went up accuracy went down. It seemed to like the hollow points best. Tried some gammo hunter, and marksmans. It also seemed to like those. Overall a nice gun especially for the price point.
It's a powerful pistol. Unique as it is NP. Accurate. Fun to shoot.
Plastic grip is hard and rough on the hands as well as a little too fat. It should be more like rubber and a little thinner.

Chinese Air Pistol
May 13, 2013
This is basically a Chinese Air Pistol with junk quality craftsmanship. Plastic shards and shaving left on the stock. The trigger is the worst and hardest to pull I have ever seen. My toy cap gun I got when I was 6 has a better trigger than this pistol. I love the idea of a Nitro Piston pistol, but this one is not great quality. For the low price I can't complain too much. Mine shot lower than the factory sites would go, so I put on a scope and it is better but I have the elevation set to shoot as high as it will go and it is on target at 50 feet. At 100 feet the pellet has dropped out of range of the scope. If you leave the cocking assist on when you shoot it it shoots about 6 inches lower at 50 feet. I basically took the cock assist off and left it off. It isn't too hard to cock without it.
Good Price and consistent shooting.
Horrid trigger. Shoots low. Junky craftsmanship.

Trigger pull is horrable
May 11, 2013
I've had to clamp this gun in a vice to see if it's accurate, and it is. I think the trigger will loosen up in time or an aftermarket one will be available soon. Great gun except the trigger.
Everything except the trigger pull
Trigger pull will take some getting used to.

Benjamin Trail NP .177 Caliber Air Pistol
May 11, 2013
This is one fine gun from the time i opened the box!!! I have had no problems and it seems to be very accurate. I put a scope on it and that is all it took. I ordered one of these months ago and just kept waiting and hoping and then there it was once i forgot about it. :^)
Great design and for the price i think it is the best pellet pistol i have ever bought for the price. I have a Marauder pistol also but that is just in another class. Having those two pistols is all i would ever want or need. I am really hooked on this gun!
Not yet!!!!
