Can't review something only a couple of days old.
January 9, 2015
I just bought this and, as usual, the vendor wants a review before I have had a chance to try it out. Initially, I like the finish and eased edges/corners of the piece, but until I have fired a couple of hundred rounds through it, I can't really say if I like it or not. All I can say now is that it works...i.e., a pellet loaded in the thing comes out of the barrel as it is supposed to. Ask me in 6 months and I will be able to give a real review. The requests about recommending to a friend are premature, therefore, at this time I pick "NO" knowing that is because I don't yet know.
Pros:
I like the sighting system...light pipe dots. The finish is nice.
Cons:
The gun is actually larger than I expected. But then, considering it's a break-barrel weapon, it has to be large to get enough leverage to charge it. With it's size, it also is heavy.

Refurbished Benjamin Trail NP .177 Caliber Air Pistol
January 7, 2015
So far this purchase has been disappointment. This pistol doesn't group for crap. The break barrel lock sticks horribly so it's hard to cock the thing. It takes something of a karate chop to break the breach lock open. The trigger pull is ridiculously long and the break sucks too. I have a bout 50 pellets through it at this point so I suppose it's possible that it might begin to shoot better after a few hundred but I doubt if I will find out because it's just no fun to shoot such a POS. I have two RWS LP8-Magnums that are a joy to shoot and which re extremely accurate. Hate to dump such a harsh review but I call them like I see them. This gun is junk. Perhaps I got a lemon or a pistol that someone else returned for work which was never done? You win some and you lose some. I lost on this purchase.
Pros:
It would have been nice to have a good gas piston pistol for such an economical price but fortunately, the particular refurb they sent me is not a good one. Junk.
Cons:
Breach lock jams every time and requires it to be struck to unlock it.Totally erratic at ten yards. No accuracy at all where my RWS pistols chew up the ten ring.

Good with the Bad
December 19, 2014
Despite being a refurb, could not tell from new. Bought gun primarily for indoor target shooting. Still trying to find a pellet that it likes. So far, 7.9 wadcutters seem to be the best. Fixed rear sight issue by using a longer screw with thread locker. Will try a laser or red dot sight and see if that resolves the low shooting problem. Not as powerful as I had hoped for. My Beeman P17 packs more of a punch using the phone book test. Fairly accurate. About 1.5 " at 10 yards and getting better as gun breaks in.
Pros:
Looks very cool. Easy to cock, with cocking aid. Fun to shoot. Very quiet for indoor shooting.
Cons:
Severe barrel droop. Front sight is ridiculously tall. Not enough travel in rear sight elevation adjuster. As a result, gun shoots 2 inches low at 10 yards. Trigger has very long travel and heavy pull. Still smoking after 75 shots, but getting better.

My Refurbished Trail NP .177
December 16, 2014
Great product. The refurbished Trail NP .177 shoot very accurately right out of the box with the cocking aid on. It was almost like the tech zeroed the sights before the placed it in the bock.
Pros:
Power and accurate
Cons:
None

One of my most satisfying purchases ever
November 21, 2014
With the right setup, this gun has quickly become one of my favorites. Of note, I had previously purchased a brand new model from a retail store and ended up returning it due to some of the other complaints people have mentioned (difficult to sight, difficult to actually open the break barrel, etc). HOWEVER, this refurbished one had none of the problems the brand new one had with the exception of wanting to shoot low with the cocking-assist attached to the barrel. I have found with this one that I do not even need that assist and it shoots much better. I did purchase a UTG rail adapter so I could mount a reticle sight - SO glad I made that extra purchase! Made ALL the difference in the world. Now very accurate and every day I look forward to shooting it. Interestingly the refurbished one was also much quieter than the new one. GREAT PURCHASE! Thank you Air Gun Depot!!!
Pros:
Quiet Unexpectedly powerful Accurate (with right setup)
Cons:
Shoots low with break barrel assist left on Have to purchase additional rail adapter and sight for dead-on repeatable accuracy

great pistol
August 16, 2014
I am a air gun enthusiast but hate co2 guns. this pistol shoot as hard as any of them and much cheaper to shoot. I bought the refurb model because of the price and was very happy when I received it. could not tell it from brand new.it shoots quiet and quite accurate.great for back yard plinking and honing your hand gun skills. it is heavy so not really recommended for little shooters but I do have a 7yr old grandson who loves shooting it. the cocking is quite stiff and when I first got it, it was quite hard to brake from the lock position. I added a bit Teflon lubricant and the results were much better. great sites, very visible.i would highly recommend this to anyone on a budget who just likes sitting in the back yard killing cans and any other challenging targets. pellets are cheap and you can shoot for hours for a few dollars.dont expect to kill varmits with it, not saying you cant but at 625 fps its not really the gun for it.i also own the ruger springer model that is very comparable but the np model is quieter. honestly tho the noise factor on these is really not a factor.
Pros:
just a truly great little pistol.very well built, should last for many years.really at 50.00,you cant find a better deal and it will last for years with a little care.
Cons:
the only cons I can think of would probably be the cocking effort, trigger pull and the weight but these are not really cons ,but just characteristics of the gun.

Shoots like a dream
July 8, 2014
I was surprised how heavy this was at first but that comes with quality. A little hard to break, but again, as I use it more and more my arm gets stronger and the gun begins to break in. Easy to sight, easy to shoot. Best air pistol I've ever owned.
Pros:
Easy to sight in, easy to cock and load (but my left arm now looks like Lou Ferrigno's left arm).
Cons:
None.

Benjamin trail np pistol
June 7, 2014
I have wanted one of these for a while but I didn't want to shell out 80.00 to get one so when I saw this refurbed on Airgun Depot I figured I have to get it. When it arrived it looked brand new and had no barrel droop at all. Of course it takes some time spent to break it in and get used to it. My vision is not that great up close so I put a Tasco dot sight on that I had and I was able to get it sighted in. The trigger pull is a little hard but once you get used to it it's fine. So at 100 feet I had a pellet tin clipped to a tree and I hit it. It didn't go through but put a nice dent in it so that's not bad for such a distance. Of course at closer range it will go right through with no problem. It's a fun gun to shoot. I tried shooting with the cocking aid on and off and it's strange but with it off the gun shoots higher without any changes. I left the aid on because it's easier to cock and it looks cool! Maybe it has to do with physics I don't know.
Pros:
Piston driven, accurate, fun
Cons:
trigger pull

WOW!
June 5, 2014
This is a monster of a pistol. At 46 years old,i just recently got bit by the air gun bug. When i recieved this package and opened it boy was I surprized. This thing is is huge, heavy and well built, it should last forever, I can hit a medicine bottle at 15 yards. Thats saying a lot, cause I'm no markmans. this is by far my favorite gun. now this gun may not be suitable for young ones, because of the weight, but I could shoot it all day and I'm not a big guy. at $50.00 it is a steal
Pros:
Built to last, no co2 to buy, fiber optic sights, cocking aide, good accuracy & powerful
Cons:
If iI had one,it would be having to tap on barrel before cocking, but if u leave the cocking aide on. and tap on the end it breaks easyer, plus it looks more intimadating.
