Interesting Airgun
May 16, 2014
Well, I have a lot of PCP airguns, but all are one shot, nothing semi-auto like this Beretta CX4. The trigger is something hard but crisp, not so loud, it is neighbor friendly and very light. Prepare yourself with a lot of pellets and minimum 2 magazines, this little gun is very addictive. I did not review the accuracy of the gun right now, because I started shooting it at night and just want to hear how loud and how fast it fires. I plan to use it to exterminate some rats near my house....Sure I will have a lot of fun with this semi-auto, that mimics the real CX4.
Pros:
Light weight , not so loud as a PCP, easy to handle and fire. Semiauto airgun.
Cons:
$$$$pensive. Iron sight hole too small, It is only semiauto, it would be semiauto and full auto for the expensive it is. It will come in 0.22 Cal also.

very well made replica CX4 Storm
March 19, 2014
I have a real CX4 Storm in 9mm, and this replica is almost impossible to tell the difference. It works great, and I can practice shooting in my basement. Very high quality workmanship, has the weight and balance of the real thing.

Prefers Diablo Match Pellets
February 11, 2014
Tried about ten types of pellets with this rifle. Best groups are from heavier, wadcutter type pellets. Diabolo Match Pellets from Gamo are probably your best bet. Not a supper accurate rifle. Quarter sized groups at 20 yards is best you should expect. Feeds flawlessly. Great way to practice rapid target transitions. Great rifle for indoors. If you are looking to scope it I would recommend the 4 x mil dot scope from leapers, and some fairly high rings. Not compatible with accessories for the "real" center-fire version.

Accurate and powerful - good value
July 30, 2010
First rifle arrived with damaged butt plate. Replaced without fuss, just took time. I added the PS22 red dot. Once dialed in its very accurate. Takes down squirrels at 40-50 feet with one hit using Destroyer pellets. Its easily maneuverable, easily loaded (get another mag, saves time) and has not jammed yet (follow loading procedures) Plus it comes in a solid protective case.

Best high capacity air rifle!
December 22, 2008
Pros: Accurate (with walther 88gram co2), shoots as fast as you can pull the trigger, looks and feels just like a real firearm...easy to raise to the shoulder and pivots side to side easy. Can be operated very quickly (load mag in, pull back bolt, fire rounds, unload mag, de-cock etc.) Iron peep sights work surprisingly well in well-lit conditions. Muzzle velocity is sufficient although of course, not outstanding. Cons: Use only Walther 88gram co2 cylinders...Crosman 88g co2 is only good for first hundred shots or so and does not function as well. (accuracy suffers). Iron sights are near useless in low-lit conditions...get the ps22 sight. Overall: Be sure to get plenty of walther 88gram co2 cylinders and .177 (4.5mm) pellets. Also, an extra mag or two would be nice to have. This is a very fun air rifle to use.

Quality, Quality, Quality.... Fun to shoot and accurate. Be sure to buy an extra clip or two! and plenty of ammo! Air Gun Depot has the best price and service for the gun, but get your CO2 cartridges at Dick's.

This is a very fun and totally cool air rifle, it is some what expensive buy and operate and it's not as accurate as my Gamo, it's good enough but that not why you buy this rifle. If you want coolness, this rifle is it, if you want a super accurate air rifle, keep looking.

Scope / red dot
August 13, 2007
No, unless your scope already has a "see-through" ring mount to raise ir past the iron sights, the sights will block the scope. I bought a "picatinny riser block" for $20 (basically a 3/4" high Weaver mount that attaches to the existing Weaver mount) and my BSA red dot is the perfect height. Now that I've had a chance to shoot the Storm with that sight (about 600 rounds so far w/o a failure to feed of any kind), I'm rasing my review from 4 stars to 5!

Only one complaint...
July 23, 2007
Just rec'd my CX-4 a few days ago, so here are my first impressions...To echo some of the other reviews, the gun is beautiful, solid feeling and appears to be made to the highest standards of quality; the exact opposite of the way a Nighstalker feels when you first pick it up. I have no doubt that if you handed one to an owner of an actual .40 or .45 CX-4, it would take them a few seconds to realize that they were holding a C02 gun! The mag is easy to load, and a Bic pen seems the perfect tool to seat the pellets in the belt feed just below flush. The most critical item on my list was function, and the CX-4 is fantastic in that department -- while the trigger is a little stiff, the gun is a dream in rapid fire. I've run though at least 300 RWS pointed pellets without a noticable drop in velocity from my first Airsource bottle, and with NO jams or failure to index the magazine, even in 30-shot strings banged out in less than 10 seconds. Accuracy is certainly acceptable for a gun of this type, 10 shots at 25 ft. I could cover with a quarter, and a reliable beer can killer out to 75 ft. My only complaint is the stock iron sights -- the rear sight dialed in OK for windage, but my front sight is a mess for elevation. It started 6 in. low at 25 ft., and when I tried to adjust the front post, it felt like the elevation adjustment was goint to break when I tried to raise the group...I finally got it shooting just a bit low, but my next click "up" on the screw had it shooting high. It seems like the adjustments are too coarse...shooting quarter-sized groups is great, but not if one click of the sight moves the group up or down 3 in -- from 1 in. below zero to 2 in. above at 25 ft. That's my only complaint so far, just enough to drop the CX-4 from 5 stars to 4, but even that's not too big a deal. Once I get one of my red dot's mounted on it, I'm sure it'll be 5 star performer! Speaking of red dots -- all of mine have integral mounts and ride too low to clear the iron sights. Can anyone recommend an extension rail to raise the mounting level an inch or so? Yeah, I'd love to spring for the Walther sight, but... brad_bradsher@hotmail.com

Punch Packer with good looks!
July 6, 2007
I purchased this Air Rifle right after I placed an order for a Night Stalker by Crosman. Before my Crosman shipped I canceled it's order once I discovered this for sale. I made the right decision. Ok..the gun. Beretta CX-4 Storm .177 Cal. The clip has not hung up or jammed once! The stock on this thing is the same materials used on firearms and expensive rifles. It dose not feel like a plastic toy. Be smart and be safe. It looks like an assault rifle not a pellet gun. I let my Neighbor hold it and the first words out of his mouth are wow it's heavy,..man it's made well. And he didn't even shoot it. Now to me the weakness of this fine air rifle are it's peep sights. The rear sight is a small hole and the front sight is very hard to be consistant with for the shooting I want to achieve. I tried to adjust them a bit but I was not impressed. So I ordered the PS 22 Walther Red Dot Sight and I now just got through dialing it in from about only six meters. My backyard is smaller and I am shooting from the garage to be kind of quiet. It makes a little snap pop. Probably as loud as a construction staple gun.But I was able to group some Gamo Match Pellets 7.6 Grain within less than 1" The whole 5 shot group was all sort of touching eachother! I was getting pleased now with the red dot dialed in a bit compare to 2" to 6" groups from the peep sights. The trigger is a few pounds. Not an easy trigger but shooting the gun and becoming familiar with it is all it takes for me anyway. I am looking forward to getting those Walther 4X scopes with the rails that are advertised with it. The front mount and the barrel Compensator. Pretty much all the accessories. The Umarex Company in Germany has done a fine job! For just a Co2 plinker I am most impressed. I have shot so far about approximately 100 shots with 1 88 Gram Co2 so far. I also plan to shoot many more pellets through it to find what works best. I placed an empty large Heineken can filled with water up against the brick wall fence at the same distance and it punched the can with force to send it off the brick wall falling backwards as it slid forwards and the pellet went through both sides of the can. I also rolled a tennis ball across the lawn and hit it again and again. My Chrony clocks the pellet at about 500 fps about 6 inches away from the muzzle with the 7.6 grain Gamo Match. It is hitting approx 3 to 4 pounds at impact. This is plenty with this extra light pellet for Frogs,Lizzards squirrels at close range ,... dragon flies... ;p) I am already confident that I could hit a jack rabbit in the head and neck for a kill. Tennis balls are not the only thing I can chase. And don't forget even though this is light it is a great repeater and I can now hit Mr. Squirrel about three times. In fact there was one red squirrel that came by and I placed my red dot on him but I just smiled and let him go! Same range just as I got dialed in too! It was his lucky day. It was tempting! The red squirrel I like. It is the Rats at night I am waiting for! If I had any thing to say to Umarex or wish for it would be...1.How about making a M-16 A1 version with a longer barrel and how about making a Sniper HK PSG 1 with a longer barrel!? That would sell like hot cakes and gain attention I would think. An M16 A1?!. If they did it as decent as they did this Beretta Storm. For those of you who have had problems with your night stalkers this is where you need to be. I am just lucky I caught mine in time before it shipped. I bought two Beretta Storms because I think later on it will be a collector item. I am still getting more dialed in with it but I made great progress as I knew I would with the red dot sight. I will shoot different pellets through it and I will tighten it up even more.Even though it is not the power of a Condor or RWS Spring gun I gave it a 5 because it is built very well and has not hung up at all and in my opinion it is one of the finest Co2 guns available for a repeater.

Beretta CX-4 Storm
July 5, 2007
The Beretta CX-4 is my fifth airgun I have owned. My cousin and I both ordered one for pest control, mostly mice and rats running around in our fields and garage. The gun is pricey and I recommend it only if you plan to use it a lot. It is not worth paying $250.00 just to shoot cans with. My gun before this was the Drozd BB gun which is also a really cool gun, I cant even begin to count the amount of rats I have taken out with the Drozd, my Drozd began to degrade in power from being overused so I had to get a new gun to hunt with, my choice was the CX-4. My first impressions where one of AW. When my cousin and I opened the cardboard we found the gun encased in a tactical looking hard gun case. When we opened it we where amazed at the overall look and feel of the gun. It was light and had a future looking taste to it. It felt like nothing I had felt before in a gun. It is light and easy to load, the co2 lasted forever and when we tested it€™s penetration it still went through 1€ of wood when the co2 was 20 shots from being depleted, and the magazine holds 30 rounds of pellets. Very good handling gun and it has some serious penetration to it. The gun is not that loud but strong, the drozd I would have to say is maybe twice as loud as this gun, but the Drozd is not as powerfull as it. The problems with the gun are no sling swivels, and air seems to poof out of the pistol grip as you shoot. The sights are hard to make out at night because they are ghost ring style. Red Dot is recommended for night use. Overall good gun I would have to compare it 50/50 to the Drozd though. If you have any personal questions about it e-mail me at DesertScorpion15@hotmail.com may take up to a week for reply though. Good luck in your decision making

Simply OUTSTANDING

I'm not sure what happened to my first review, but I'll try again. It has now been two weeks since my CX4 Storm arrived and I have put a little over 500 rounds thru it. This is one awesome gun! It is extremely accurate and consistant. I love the weight and feel - it is quality through and through. Better have plenty of ammo on hand, though, because you just cant' help but rapid fire this baby! I enjoy shooting this more than my .22 centerfire! Umarex has a real winner here and it raises the bar with the 30 round magazine! I gotta get a 2nd magazine! Dave

OUTSTANDING
June 21, 2007
I received my CX4 Storm today! First, I didn't know it came in a case with the Beretta name on it. Nice touch. Next, I opened the case and was immediately impressed with the looks of the gun in real life. Then I picked it up - whoa! This is a heavy gun. Read the handbook - nothing complicated there. I installed the airsource cartridge and then went to work loading the magazine with 30 RWS Hobby pellets. I set up a 10 meter pistol slow fire target on a cardboard box and took ten paces back. The first 30 rounds were disappointing. With the sights set from the factory I was 6" left of target center. Using the allen wrench included with the gun, I adjusted the peephole left. Still shooting left of center. Further adjustments put the peephole as far left as it would go and I was still hitting 3 inches left of center! I was stumped for about twenty minutes as I tried everything I could think of to bring this beast in line. Then I noticed that the front sight (which is adjustable for elevation) had some horizontal play and I could actually move it to the left. I took a small piece of paper and folded it up to make a shim and stuffed it down the right side, pushing the sight as far left as it would go, and then centered the peephole. Tried three shots but couldn't see the hits (black center field) so I walked up to the target to take a look. All three shots chewed the same hole at about 1/2 inch right of center. Moved the peephole left about 1/5 turn and moved back to 45 ft. Fired the remaining magazine with every one of them hitting the black. Reloaded and went back to 50 ft. Ten shots and only one was just outside the black. Put a pop can on top of the box and went back to 50 ft. and mutilated the can! It fell over on to the ground. From 50 ft I missed the grounded can twice out six shots. It spun around so all that was visible was the bottom. Three shots without a miss! Put a new can on top of the box and went out to 75 ft. Plastered the can with my 3 remaining shots! Maybe this doesn't sound amazing, but I'm 64 years old with a bad hip and right leg, I was standing downhill from the target and I wear glasses! I have never owned a pellet rifle before so I can't compare apples to apples but I am impressed. This is a high quality gun but Umarex needs to fix that front sight to eliminate the horizontal play. The power is outstanding and it is consistent. I'm glad I got it.

By Sean from jupiter, FL on August 23, 2012

i have the same question, i tries a jt 90 gram and it shot all the air out at once in 2 seconds, nearly froze my hand right off. But I had the gun cicked and i dont think i was supposed to. Can a scope be added to this gun?
By Staff on November 25, 2011

Answer:
Yes, we recommend the Walther PS22 Red Dot Sight

http://www.airgundepot.com/walther-ps22-red-dot.html
By Brandon from Hagerstown, Maryland on November 24, 2011

Answer:
yes just make sure the scope can clear the front and/or rear sight(they are a bit high) and u should be good, the best scope/optics i found to work on it the best is a good quality red dot(the iron sights are not fine adjustable)and to make sure it can clear the sights they make a weaver rail attachment that attaches to the original weaver rail system to help with this.

By Brandon from United States on May 2, 2012
Do you or can you guys sell the weaver picatinny tri-rail for this?

We do not sell the tri-rail for this item.
