Looks and feels like an M4 firearm. Shoots either BBs or pellets, so you can use whatever ammo you've got on hand. Since it's a multi-pump, you can pump it up to 10 times to get higher velocities or less if you'd like to do some easy all-day shooting. Get extra clips (same ones used by the Crosman 760 Pumpmaster) and load up so you don't have to interrupt your range time with a lot of reloading.

When you shoot steel BBs, do not shoot at hard objects or water. The BBs will ricochet! No matter what ammo you're using, remember to wear safety glasses. Everyone in the vicinity of the range should wear safety glasses, even if they're not shooting.

Great Rifle! Great Value!
March 27, 2014
When you take it out of the box, it doesn't take long to sight it in. When its sighted , and your a good shot, you get accurate shots in an area no larger than an inch. It really is rifled! The ammo clip is just an empty case. Doesn't come with ammo just to let you guys know. Good gun for the price.
Pros:
-Lightweight -Accurate -Durable -Blew a big hole through my plastic bin. (It was thick)
Cons:
-Your gonna want some more ammo clips.

I've had this gun for a year or two now it's extremely accurate and deadly.
Pros:
Accurate powerful, and it looks like the real deal
Cons:

Great gun overall
August 21, 2013
This gun is a great pellet gun. I use it for plinking and shooting small birds. It definitely has the power for both my uses. When target shooting, I do not have any shot that fly off into nowhereville. They all stay In a nice group. However, the sights are not all that great past 25 yards. The front pin takes up too much of the field of view to be useful. Upgrade to an inexpensive red-dot sight and this problem will be fixed. The bottom rails are useless unless you mount a small item there. The pumping action.
Pros:
Accurate Decent power Light Very cool
Cons:
Included sights are sub-par The bottom rails are useless

This gun is sick!!!
June 18, 2013
To be honest, this gun is amazing!! It looks & feels like a real firearm! There is a lot of little details for this gun, first of all is the little mag, it ain't real, it ain't the place to pour the pellets in, but it could be useful for putting little things in it, but besides that this gun is pretty cool. Worth those 70 bucks, for me.
Pros:
Everything!
Cons:
Not much, only the stock sights :/

A fun little rifle
March 30, 2013
I bought this rifle at Walmart, about a month ago. After 24 yrs in the military, I wanted an M16 type rifle. The wife shot that down....chuckles. It shoots well but the sights that come with it are pretty much useless. Yesterday, I bought an inexpensive tactical reflex sight for it. It took about an hour to zero it in, but now it is right on at 30 yds. My only complaint is that it should be Co2 powered, with a self loading magazine for the pellets. Having to pump it up to 10 times between each round gets old. For plinking, and nuisance bird hunting, (we have thousands of European Starlings around here that get into everything), it should excel.
Pros:
Looks great and shoot straight.
Cons:
Pumping it between each round is a pain. Stock sights are useless

Crossman M4-177 Caliber Air Rifle
January 21, 2013
I am liking my pellet air rifle now that I finally got it zeroed-in! It took me forever to get the manual sights adjusted to the bulls eye but when I did I found the fifle is very accurate with each shot fired........finally. As an expert marksman with my S/A Kimber 45 handgun I am embarressed to put in print the mistake I was doing with the sight alignment of the pellet rifle, but all is well that ends well ! I got the rifle for target practice because ammo is too expensive to buy just for target practice for my .45cal Kimber and also a .357 magnum. Making the price of bullets to high for folks to buy is just another form of gun control......screwed again!
Pros:
EVERYTHING
Cons:
nothing

Got this for me and my 3 year old
January 15, 2013
I have had BB/pellet rifles and pistols my whole life. I got this gun at Walmart locally to have a second rifle to teach my 3 year old. My eldest son has a Crosman 66 powermaster pellet rifle. They shoot almost the same. I added the same scopes to both rifles (Gamo 22 special 4x32) and they both hit great with pellets. The 66 powermaster, is a better gun with BB's, but I didn't get it for BB's. I am teaching my wife and daughter to use the pellet rifles before buying them actual firearms. The M4-177 is the right size for my 3 year old to adjust the but stock and reach the trigger. It also works with my 18 year old too. What more could you ask for!
Pros:
The rails Adjustable stock Name brand Works good with pellets (love the Gamo Red Fire pellets in it).
Cons:
Trigger pull too long Not as easy to just drop in pellets, need to use small clip. Needs a longer clip for pellets. HATE the pistol grip! Sharp to use left handed, cut my had up after 1 hour shooting!

Amazing Rifle
December 7, 2012
I bought this Rifle cause I spent so much time with it during my military services. Honestly, I referred to it as a toy to play in the backyard. My expectations were very low, to be honest. Plastic air rifle that shoots BB's and pellets? Come on. But I was wrong. It is still an air rifle, plastic and etc. don't get me wrong, but it shoots so accurate I was amazed. Out of the box, I zeroed it with the blank paper with the cross in the middle, using pellets from free standing position on 30 feet distance. I made a couple of good shots and decided I want to test it on real target. So I bought official qualification air gun rifle 25 feet target and made 5 shots in 5 targets on it. Well not bulls eyes all of them just 1 shot made to 10 but 3 shots in 9 and 1 made 8 from free standing position on 25 feet. Peep sights from the box BTW not red dot or etc. I honestly didn't expect that accuracy from this toy. Amazing. Don't get me wrong, it is still not competition rifle and not the firearm, but I don't call it toy anymore either. I wish they would make a version with the spring and the self indexing clip like Baikal's IZH for example. Pumping and you want the same number of pumps which you used during the zeroing the rifle which is 10 for me kills. Hands getting tired and shake and that affects accuracy. I hope I would make all 10s otherwise ;)
Pros:
Accurate Not exact but close replica Price
Cons:
Pumping vs spring Weight could be bigger Not self indexing clip Sights especially front are plastic (you can't even use the lighter to make it darker for night shooting). Used this Russian trick to make the front sight darker than the night for night shooting yet in IDF.

Very strong
January 28, 2012
Okey, when I shoot with BB or pellet it shoots strong and makes a great impact. But the greatest disspointment was that its not and semi-automatic, but its not listed like that, but it would be amazing if it was! So now you need to fill the chamber with a pellet or BB. It's cool to that you don't need Co2. But if there was one with Co2, I would buy it again! Looks cool, its heavy and the Laser that you can buy in the shop is great with it.
Pros:
Looks cool Strong impact Accurate Realistic feeling BB or pellet
Cons:
10 times to pump takes effort

Great backyard plinker!
January 19, 2012
I have to say I am impressed with the Crosman M4-177. I bought mine the first day they were available for sale (the earliest production run were branded "M417"). The M4-177 is based on the Crosman 760 multi-pump powerplant. This is a decades old, tried and tested platform. With proper care and use, the M4-177 should last for many years. The M4-177 is a very close replica of the military M4 carbine, or civilian AR-15. Some of the dimensions are a little off, such as the pump handle/ heat shield forearm, which is a little beefier than the real steel version, but overall the Crosman offering is a good copy. The majority of the Crosman M4 is made of a tough engineering polymer, the major exceptions being the internal rifled steel barrel, the steel compression tube, and most of the pump linkage parts. The polymer pump piston is the same as that found in the Crosman 760 and 66/664 series rifles. This air rifle will accept either BB's -- gravity fed and magnetically loaded from an internal "ready track", in turn supplied by a bulk reservoir in the receiver -- or .177 caliber pellets -- fed via a 5-shot stick magazine, manually indexed. The M4 comes packaged with one pellet magazine, and a sight adjustment tool; both of these items can be stored in the faux "shorty" magazine inserted into the magazine well immediately forward of the trigger group. Operationally, the M4-177 works just like other, lower-cost multi-pump rifles. Anyone familiar with the Crosman 760, 2100, 66 (664), or Remington Airmaster 77 will be completely at home putting the M4-177 into operation. The sights are usable, but are rudimentary. Both the front and rear sight are removeable. The flat-top receiver has a molded-in Weaver-style rail for mounting optics -- I prefer to use a red-dot sight on this platform for plinking. The forward portion of the barrel has two additional Weaver rail for mounting accessories. Unfortunately, opening the pumping arm interferes with the placement of the lower rail, eliminating all but the smallest accessories. The upper rail on the barrel is intended for the front sight, but with this removed, there is room for a flashlight or laser, etc... It would have been nice if Crosman had designed this bit to include the upper rail and two side rails, instead of the lower, unusable rail. As designed, the Crosman M4-177 will accept most two-point slings, with primary attachment points at the rail adapter on the front of the barrel and at the rear of the collapsible buttstock. Performance: The M4-177 is not a very powerful air rifle (remember, it is basically a Crosman 760 Pumpmaster in tactical clothing), but it generates more than enough muzzle energy for backyard plinking. Having a pnematic powerplant, there is no "recoil" - though the shooter will feel a very slight impulse from the movement of the striker weight - and the trigger is crisp. Accuracy, therefore, is quite decent, provided the shooter follows good practices. It is NOT intended for hunting, or even for small pest control (shooting at, say, anything larger than a small bird, would be irresponsible).
Pros:
Good replica. Affordable. Multi-shot. Dependable build - both sturdiness of this construction, and the proven design upon which it is based (the 760). Good accuracy. Easy to use.
Cons:
Sights are only so-so. Could be heavier. Manual indexing of magazine (providing automatic indexing would greatly increase the price, though...). Only offered in .177 (but again, tooling up to produce a .22 would add a lot of cost...)

A fair first pellet gun.
December 27, 2011
Good pellet gun. Lousy BB gun. Fires pellets consistantly at 20 feet away. Good luck trying to get it to fire BBs. If you do, I hope have fun loading the BBs. The gun supports many attachments, optics, mounts, and other add-ons. Don't use a for grip. Supports a sling, but the sling must be fed through some of the holes on the gun (no swivels). The firing rate is very minimal. I recommend that this gun is not to be used as a BB gun.
Pros:
The pellets fire relatively consistantly. Shot groups are within a one inch diameter when fired from a bipod at 20 feet away. The rail system alow for attaching scopes on top, a laser sight on the barrel, and a bipod on the pump. A AR-15/M-16 style handle can also be attached.
Cons:
I could not get the gun to fire BBs. The instructions call for the user to "shake" the gun after loading the BBs so that the BBs load into the chamber. This is not a very effective our user-friendly design for a BB gun. Firing the pellets remind me of firing a musket. You must pump the gun seven times. Pull the slide/bolt to the rear. Load the clip, or slide the clip to the next pellet position. Push the slide/forward. Aim and then squeze the trigger. Repeat these steps to fire the next round. The rail on the pump is too far forward and defeats the purpose of attaching a fore-grip for support. There are no sling swivels attached. The sling must be fed through minor openings on the stock and barrel to attach it. The magizine is for show and has no value added.

Fun Gun
December 18, 2011
It has been a great little bb, pellet gun. It is nice to have a large capacity reservoir for the bbs. Pellets are great at about 670 fps, with 10 pumps. Fairly accurate once you get the hang of it. I got 4" groups at 25 yds. with pellets and about 6 with bbs. Acceptable for what I do with it.

nice pump gun
November 19, 2011
Based on a proven crosman powerplant, it is a very nice pumper. I had a heart to heart with crosman when I got mine. It is fairly accurate but the sights are a bit cheesy. When you get yours the next thing you should do is toss the stock sights and either buy some real AR sights or install a dot sight. Also a laser under the barrel would be a nice touch.
Pros:
Looks like a real m4 relatively quiet, uses bbs and pellets. Doesn't require co2 so you can shoot all day with minimal cost. Except for one tiny screw the entire gun is american made.
Cons:
I'd love to see this rifle based on the 1077 platform too. Totally hate the fact that the thing is plastic from butt ti flash suppressor. It's a great gun but all that plastic just screams CHEAP!

Cool new pump air rifle
November 10, 2011
Decided to try out this new pump air rifle from Crosman. It's based on the reliable 760B powerplant and just looks cool. It can shoot bb's out of a reservoir or pellets from the same clips that the 760 uses. Overall great gun.
Pros:
Weaver rail makes it easy to mount accessories like lasers, flashlights etc. Shoots both bb's and pellets. Looks

The small hole and large site at the end. Make this gun very hard to hit a target acuratly.
What is the best way to use this type of sites?. Im used to the traditional way of doing it with normal gun sites.

Some further advice:
Since the open sights use an aperture (rear) and post (front), most shooters will find that they can get the best sight picture with the rear sight attached as far back on the receiver rail as possible. In other words, the rear sight should be as close to your eye as possible, given the available mounting surface.
Hope this helps.

By Derek from Fort Dix on June 22, 2012

Another useful tip with this kind of iron sight setup is to put the front sight tip on your target and then looking through the rear sight focus only on the front sight tip. These sights are used on real M16's and M4's. They can be very accurate when applied properly.

By Joel from Fishers, IN on January 19, 2012

Yes, it must be pumped after each shot.
Depending on your ammo, and the range to your target, you can expect to pump between 2 and 10 times for each shot (but probably more like 4-6 pumps for most uses).
Pumping is easy though, don't let this put you off. :) It's a very fun gun for backyard plinking, I love mine.
