This gun is not accurate.Scope wont adjust,, stay away from Gamo. but buy Ruger airhawk it is more accurate and more powerful .
Merchant Response:
Thanks, for the reveiw. Did you happen to try a few different pellets in the gun? Pellet selection can make all the difference. Also, there is a chance that your scope was defective if you could not get it to adjust and sight in. Thanks!
Pros:
nothing
Cons:
not accurate

rifle arrived very quick, couldn't tell this rifle from a brand new one, shoots hard, very accurate, scope is a new thing for me, not sure I should have got the scope, but its easy to sight in, funny thing though, the pesky squirrels that were all over the yard and garden must have seen me target practice cause they have all but disappeared.

May 28, 2011
Good gun for the money. Chrono on the PBA pellets was 1056 fps. The crossman premier shot 750 Fps. Not quite the 1200 stated on the gun, but still pretty fast. Good solid gun for the money. Also the gun came with a 3 x 9 40mm scope instead of the 4 x 32 scope stated.

March 18, 2011
I bought my self a bigcat 1200 about a month ago and i have zero complaints with the gun. This is a fine piece of a firearm. THE PROBLEM THAT I HAVE IS THAT PEOPLE ARE GOING OUT WITH THESE POWERFULL PELLET GUNS AND KILLING BIRD AND OTHER ANIMALS JUST FOR FUN. I FEEL THAT THIS GUN SHOULD BE TREATED AS REAL WEAPON AND NOT A TOY!!! AND REMEMBER IF YOU ARE NOT GOING TO EAT IT DON'T KILL IT!!

We just use it for target shooting, but it is very accurate. A little trouble with the scope, can't get it all the way to the left but is correct up and down. It is a very satisfying gun to shoot. Quickly hitting a frying pan at 45 yards.

This gun has proved to be the best in its price range, at 50 yds with crosman destroyer, i get a 1.5 in group on a nonwindy day. ive killed, 3 cowbirds, 2 blue jays, one sparrow and one squirrel, and im not done hunting with this amazing rifle. The only problem, youll run low on ammo, because of the fun of shooting this rifle!

i got this gun about a month ago and i was thinking on how to test its power. i desided to get as far back as i wanted to go so i went 50 or 60 yrds back. then shot my barn which is 1/4 inck thick sheet meta.l it went straight through both sides and looked like i shot it with a .22 and sounded like it when it hit. iv'e even got 7 rabbits, 18 crows,15 squerls, ps i definettly recomened this gun to you.

July 31, 2009
at the gun shop had the scope line bore sighted in, & took it out back for a Blast Gamo thankyou for a strong Rifle. The accurate Well(Q) on that . I'ed just tested 4 other Pellet Guns from the Recon, Ruger, Big Cat & air combo crossman, the Ruger shoot the best out of the box! But Recon did ok with Irons. But the Big Cat wins with the bull barrel. & Good over all feel.

Big Cat Power
June 27, 2009
The Big Cat Pellet rifle is an excellent rifle for plicking/target shooting & hunting small game. I purchased a 3x9 50 obj. scope so that I may get the full potential from this guns power. Great value & outstanding accuracy with my set-up. Thank You Gamo & U.T.G. Optics for a wonderful combination. P.S. Buy some Lock-Tite to aviod scope creep since the scope peg thatis provided with rifle wont be available.

i got this today and shot off a few rounds. it is damn accurate! after the first 20 or so shots, i had it sighted in fairly well. i was shooting 1" clusters at 30 yards with RWS r10 match ammo. Pros: -ACCURATE -easy to reload -comfortable -safety switch is very convenient -mine came with a 3-9x40 scope -has a lot of POWER! -cheapest good airgun you'll find Cons: -loud

May 25, 2009
I was shooting in my back yard and i notice not only was i shooting through my targets but also through my back drop. So i decided to "TEST" the power. I shot my shed and each wall is 1/4 think sheet metal. I shot through both sides with lead pellets and it got stuck into my fence. Me 5yd from shed, shed to fence 10ft. Its great. Did it with PBA shot through shed AND FENCE!!!!! I reccomend.

Fun to shoot. Powerful. accurate. The stock is very simple and plain looking. The scope is decent. The more I shoot this rifle the more I feel confident that I can hit just about anything. For the price, this is an excellent entry level air rifle. You won't be dissapointed.

How is this rifle for shooting dove and squirrls?
By Staff on December 29, 2011

Answer:
you would have no problem killing either of those animals if you hit them with this gun.

By kevin from california on January 3, 2012
how do you tune the snipers scope to make it accurate
By PRIMO from MAYAGUEZ, PUERTO RICO on January 9, 2012

Answer:
place a paper taget 20 yards away and draw a one inch circle with a quarter on it. make sure the 3x9x40 scope has the detaining screw in place so the sccope will be anchored in place. the scope needs a penny to move its ajusters. take aim at the circle fire three shot and ajust rigth or left accordingly- then when you center go up or down as needed. at 20 yards your ajustments can be quater turns or more. was its zeroed in at 20 youll be good at 30 and 40 yards. dont worry the 3x9x40 is a good and easy scope to use and work very well with the .177 big cat.

By Andrew from United States of America on November 17, 2011
Hi. I am wondering if this gun is good for me? I am 11 yrs. old and I want it for Christmas. I want this gun for killing squirrels, chipmunks, birds, and rabbits. Also I want this to practice target shooting. Is the scope good??? How far macnificati0on does it have. Does it magnify a lot.
By logan from pensacola fl on November 23, 2011

Answer:
The gun is very good and reliable I have shoot over a 1000 pellets out of it and have had no problem it is very high powered and should have no problem taking out squirrels and other varments...the scope is very clear and accurate when you get done tuning it I have no problem shooting bull eyes all day with it all around it is a great gun
By john from michigan on February 17, 2012

Answer:
This is an adult gun and may be too big for you. It is also a high powered gun. It would be best to start out with a youth air rifle. Gamo makes an excellent one. Then practice, practice, practice. I started out with a crosman 760 and used it for many years. I had at least 30 years of airgunning before I picked up a high power airgun. Even then I had to learn how to hold it to get the accuracy. Airgunning is not something you just get the most powerful gun you can find and think you can shoot sub 1 inch groups. It takes time and discipline.

By Ben L from Estes Park, Colorado on May 16, 2012
Is this gun loud? And is this gun similar to a .22 rifle in power?
By Staff on May 17, 2012

Answer:
This gun is kinda loud, also, it is not as powerful as a .22 caliber rifle. 22 hits much harder but .177 travels further and faster. so, for targets, get .177, for hunting, get .22
