A real powerhouse, the RWS 460 Magnum spring-piston air rifle has a fixed barrel and cocks with an underlever. Made by the famous Diana company, you'll get the solid engineering and quality you'd expect from a Germany airgun manufacturer. Send lead pellets downrange at 1150 fps in .22 caliber, but speed is nothing without accuracy. You'll get those small groups you've always wanted. The right-hand Monte Carlo stock is made of beech and has checkering on the forearm and pistol grip. It comes with iron sights, but you'll want to mount a scope on the 11mm dovetails to get the most accuracy. Only 36 lbs. cocking effort.
This a great varmint hunting and pest control tool. The 460 Magnum utilizes an under-lever cocking mechanism that provides superior leverage when cocking the airgun, resulting in less cocking effort than other spring airguns. With easy to use top-side loading port, micro adjustable sights, fixed rifles barrel, scope capability, and a classic American Sporter stock with rubber butt pad, the 460 magnum delivers the performance, power and grace expected from an RWS rifle. Be one of the first to own this outstanding gun.

Very Impressive!
May 14, 2013

I took my new 460 .22 caliber out yesterday to sight it in, and was very impressed when the first three shots fired, while not on target, all went into one ragged hole. Two clicks to the left and one click down put it dead on at 20 yards. I already had a model 52 in .177, but this one seems far more powerful!
Cons:If I had a con it would be the cocking effort, which is rather stiff, but not really a problem. Its definitely not for a kid! |

Best Airgun I have bought
May 1, 2013
![]()
This rifle screams nothing but quality craftsmanship. RWS takes a lot of pride in their work. The rifle is a bit heavy but I expected that. Its not an issue for me nor is cocking. Very accurate and powerful. I found that the artillery hold works best. Im right handed so I let the rifle lay in my left hand with open palm and I dont butt the rifle against my shoulder. When I pull the trigger I let the rifles recoil float. The recoil is not bad at all; the rifle absorbs most of it. A T06 trigger came with mine and I have no issues with the rifle. AGD (Payton in customer service) went out of their way to get this to me in time for my Grandsons birthday. Im going to buy another one for myself. Very happy and no regrets.
Pros:All around quality, you get what you pay for!Cons:No cons |

RWS 460 Magnum
March 26, 2013

In general, really like the rifle. Fit and finish is nice and is very accurate. I put out five rounds right out of the box at 15 yards that you could cover with a small button. Actually, three of the pellets essentially went through the same holes. The safety is not as positive as I would like. If you look at it wrong, it slides forward into the firing position which means you have to be EXTRA CAUTIOUS when handling it when it is calked and loaded.

A high end rifle but buyer must be prepared for some plastic parts
March 8, 2013
![]()
I ordered this gun in the hopes that I would be buying a gun that will last a lifetime. I also did not realize it has a plastic fore-end, trigger, and trigger guard. While plastic may also last a life-time, I make it a policy to buy guys that are largely metal with the exception of grips etc because I do not want to take a chance. I love the feel of an all metal and wood gun and the machining/craftsmanship that go with them.
This gun as a shooter may be better or worse, but I did not shoot mine. I looked at it and boxed it up to return it. I have no experience with other RWS options but buyer beware, even though this is a high-end rifle it is not all-metal and wood, the way you might imagine.
Pros:Weight, size, stock, and everything that isn't plasticCons:The trigger, fore-end/sight assembly, trigger guard, and the elevation adjustment knob on the rear sight are all plastic. |

A big MISTAKE... Almost!
December 15, 2012
![]()
The PROBLEM: Those pesky cute rats known as squirrels. Yes those rodents that cost me 2k to repair a pool heater, A.C., and replace all my lounge chair cushions those rodents used to make their nests.
The TASK: Terminate rodents.
The SOLUTION: I purchased a Gamo Bull Whisper Extreme Air Rifle. Returned the piece of junk. Then I purchased the RWS 460 from AGD. Absolutely flawless air rifle but really heavy and a challenge to cock. Although it was love at first sight, I was at an personal impasse with pros/cons.
I boxed up the 460 and requested a RMA from AGD. For 6 days I passed that cardboard box with regret. On 12-12-12 AGD emailed me my RMA and as I was about to put on the shipping label I decided hold off.
The following morning those pesky rodents were on my new patio furniture clawing away. I busted open the cardboard box and unpacked the 460. I cocked it, dropped in a .22 pellet, with stealth I went outside and swiftly terminated the fleeing rodent at 15 yards. The other rodents must have heard the commotion as they too fled from behind my pool heater, scampering to the brink of safety or so they thought, when I swiftly terminated a second rodent.
The RWS 460 is absolutely the finest air gun system I have shot. Ok so it's a little heavier and some strength is necessary to cock it... however, flawed my initial physical interaction was with the 460, it's smooth, balanced, and crisp! WOW! I almost made a BIG MISTAKE by returning it!
Ohhhhhh... BTW, AGD if you actually read this review I'm not returning my 460, sorry.
Pros:Well built, sturdy, balanced, and smooth crisp trigger. Impressive high end appearance.Cons:Weight and pressure it takes to cock system. |

AWESOME!!! Air Gun, Very Smooth, Powerful, Accurate
November 23, 2012
![]()
I was quite surprised after the first few shots from this rifle. It has it all. It is very Smooth and this is my new favorite of my Air Guns. The 460 Magnum, is POWERFUL, yet very smooth. It shoots pellets FAST with a VERY HARD Impact!! It is very accurate too. This is a quality gun that has simplicity and is elegant. The T06 trigger is a really nice trigger that is adjustable. I have not need to adjust the trigger yet. The bluing is real nice and even. All markings are very well done, all composite/plastic is top quality weapon grade and is heavy duty. I shot at a few bricks at 40 yards and it took a very large chunk out of the brick, and made a cool ricochet sound. Shooting cans at 40 yards, the pellets go through both sides of can like butter, and continue with plenty of power. Be careful of what is behind your target, as this is a beast of a gun. I have A LOT of powder guns in various calibers and I also have a few air guns, but this air gun is my favorite. Do your self a favor, don't buy the cheaply made garbage guns like Benjamin/Crosman cheap Chinese guns. Pay the very little extra and get something decent like any gun from RWS. They are the VERY BEST for the price. The RWS 34P is also awesome, just less power. This gun feels lighter in your arms than it is. LOP, length, and size is great. It has a very substantial feel that I really like. I have read that some people have said the front iron sight is too wide. I say BS, it is perfect. The target should be floating on top of the the front and rear sights, a little front sight paint is all that is needed, but a good 4-16x40 AO MD IR scope with a solid weaver rail mount will allow all that power to really reach out to those 100 yard shots. Did I mention this gun is AWESOME?? If you can only have one gun this should be at the top of your short list. Airgun Depot is great and shipped it same day I ordered. That is fast, and I had it in 3 days.
Pros:460 magnum, lots of POWER, hard hitting, power is very smooth, not hard to cock, and the trigger is awesome. It has a smooth pull w/clean crisp trigger break. The wood stock is nice. Quality! Quality! Quality! Simplicity at its best, all composite plastic is excellent! The Iron sights are nice. They are heavy duty but need to have some hi-viz gun paint on the front sight.Cons:Things I did NOT like: nothing as far as this fine RWS gun goes. I wish I had bought a RWS gun first, instead of buying/wasting $$ on my Benjamin Trail NP .22 All Weather POS, as it is Chinese JUNK. Crosman/Benjamin American company producing cheap Chinese garbage. I wish we, the USA, could produce fantastic quality made guns like RWS does. |

THIS IS A TOP OF THE LINE AIR RIFLE IT IS EXCELENT. I HAVE HEARD THAT SOME PEOPLE COMPLAIN ABOUT THE FRONT SIGHT BEING TO BIG ,BUT THE FACT IS THAT THIS RIFLE IS NOT FOR PLINKING ITS A SERIOUS HUNTING WEAPON. IT HAS KNOCK DOWN POWER & PRECISION. THE .22 IS THE WAY TO GO. ITS AN EXPENSIVE RIFLE SOME THING YOU WILL SEE FIRST HAND WHEN YOU OPEN THE BOX. ITS A MERCEDES OF ITS CLASS. YOU GOT THE BUCKS GO FOR IT.

RWS 460 Magnum
July 23, 2010
![]()
I love this rifle. It is powerful and accurate.
I had to learn the hard way. I bought
less expensive rifles in the past thinking
I could save money and still have a good product. The cheap guns have poor tolerances and craftsmanship. They work at first then simply fall apart after extended use. The RWS 460 Magnum is the finest pellet rifle I have ever owned. I am a skeptical person and do not give praise where it is not due. The under lever cocking is easy and quick. I have tried several types of ammunition and find domed pellets between 18 and 26 grains work best. Most hollow points just get ripped apart but JSB Exact Jumbo Monsters (25.4 grains) mushroom out to almost 3/8 of an inch for super knock down power. Beeman Kodiak extra heavy also do well.

RWS 460 .22 cal
February 28, 2010
![]()
I have been shooting air guns for 40 years.. Benjamin, crossman, gamo, they dont come close to the power and accuracy of this outstanding air rifle. came out of the box with fine groups.. cleaned it up.. scope, tightened any loose screws only one was slightly off torque... It is a workout to shoot for plinking around. not many kids will be taking it out of the gun safe... But. for me.. its just freakin awsome for an air rifle to be that powerful.. and that accurate.. 65 yards out.. nice 1.5 inch groups mainly cause I am not used to it yet. the more I practice with it.. the tighter the pattern gets. I use the RWS .22 Super-H-Piont 14.2 gr pellets. and I could not be more satisfied with the workmanship, power, and accuracy.. worth the money. I will hope to hand this gun down to my grandkids..

Outstanding Gun & Service

I received my 460 and Leapers 6-24X50 scope within a few days and had it mounted and sighted in within 45 minutes. The gun stock and barrel are top quality. I was able to achieve a 3/4 inch grouping at 30 yards and a 1 1/2 grouping at 50 yards with Predator pellets. The gun is far beyond any pellet gun I have ever owned in the past 30 years. I highly recommend the Leapers scope to compliment this excellent firearm.

RWS 460 Magnum .22 cal 1150 fps
March 15, 2008
![]()
Surprisingly good grouping straight out of the box and it definitely has plenty of power. Considering the power of this gun it has less recoil than most 1000 fps .177 cal guns that I have used.
The gun has a nice weight and balance to it for free standing shots and is a considerablty lighter than the RWS 54 (no recoil) model and nearly as accurate.
The cocking effort is also much less than the 54 model but please don't get me wrong, I love the 54 model. On performance it is hard to split these 2 guns and is really a coin flip between power vs accuracy. The 54 has the best accuracy and the 460 has the best power or if you don't have to choose one or the other then get one of each.
First shot with the 460 went clean through a 1 gallon paint can complete with contents and made the lid pop off using an RWS Superpoint pellet. Haven't tried any Beeman Kodiak pellets in it yet.
Impressive in all departments and is a quality gun.

This is a super airgun! Mine came shooting nickle sized groups at 30 yds. right out of the box with weighed and sized pellets. No 1 - 2000 shot settling in period for this one. Also, no need to look any further than the Crossman 14.3 grain domed pellets. They perform great and at reasonable cost. Want an airgun that will knock a cat squirrel off the limb? This one will do it!

Answer:
All I know is that this rifle can hit soda cans at 75 yards- cal .22- on very windy days. As for recoill my 460 has less recoil than most break barrels as for the 54 which is mounted on a rail system its a question of having rws do a trial. the rws is a simple yet very ellegant rifle that shoot at 850+ fps cal .22 that gives you a big knock down capacity for hunting over 20+ foot pounds. If I had to choose 460 or 54 , the 460 is my bet : simple, elegant, accurate & powerfull. Almost forgot the 460 is an under lever way more easy to use than a side lever.By Glenn from SE Connecticut on March 16, 2012
Answer:
i cannot address choice between 460 and 54, but with regards to recoil on 460, it's really not bad. the bigger limiting factor is the cocking effort, and in my opinion, if you can cock it all day, then you can shoot it all day. i put in sessions of a few hours at a time, and any muscle fatigue is due to the cocking effort, not the recoil.By george from Seattle, Washington on August 3, 2012

This gun is TOP of the line. It's a German air rifle built to last a lifetime . The craftsmanship they put into these gun be it in mechanic or woodwork is where you see the $$$ you're going to pay . Believe me unless you have money to throw away it is only due to excellence that they can ask $500 for an air rifle when you can get a rim fire for a 10th of that.
