The Sumatra 2500 has been around for a long time, but that doesn't mean it's not a serious competitor in the PCP world. Whether slinging standard pellets or with cast lead slugs, this lever action PCP shoots them all extremely well and has been a proven performer in power time and time again. With classic lines reminiscent of high-end hunting shotguns, an engraved receiver, deep blued finish on the barrel and air tube, and high gloss finished hardwood furniture, this rifle looks as good as it will shoot.

The Sumatra has a 6 shot rotary magazine that looks like it came straight off an old west revolver. It is long enough to handle the beefiest of pellets making the Sumatra 2500 a fantastic hunting tool. While it comes equipped with a fully adjustable rear and fixed blade front sight, the Sumatra also features an 11mm dovetail rail to mount any scope you choose. The lever action is really a highlight of this rifle, it makes follow-up shots a breeze and can easily be operated by your shooting hand. When your ready to make some serious power with a serious air rifle, the Sumatra 2500 is your gun.

Ok, so I set up a 3 metal small gong that you can buy a any Walmart. I take a shot at the left large one at 10 yards and it hit dead center. Take another shot and hit dead center again but for some reason the gong didn't look at it did before so I walk over for a closer inspection and notice the 1/2 inch metal gong is damn near folded. WTF! Long short, this thing is powerful for a .25. I had it on the lowest setting too. Wooooow!

Pros
Power and accuracy on point. Flat POI all the way out to 34 to 45 yards.

Cons
People complain about its weight being heavy. Take your ass to the gym so you can enjoy the power and accuracy of the Sumatra 2500 .25!

Wow was all I could say about the power of this rifle. I shot 49 grain slugs @ 956 FPS for 99.46 foot pounds of muzzle energy. Accuracy is right on & I loved it so much I bought the Carbine ...not so good luck with that one. I always heard stories of others buying defective products but this was a first for me.. I go to fill the rifle with air and it is hissing as soon as I pull the fill probe. Right back down to where it was between the yellow and the green 1000 psi ...funny it will hold there but put more in it and it leaks down again. So I sent the Carbine to a Gunsmith in N.C. for a full tune. Will be a real pleasure to shoot when I get it in my hands again! That is a .25 caliber also.

Pros
power up / power down. Accuracy = confident shooting.

Cons
it is soooo looouuuddd.. Get a suppressor.. I have the Wolf brand and they are unbelievable plus you can screw it right on ...no adapter required because it is made strictly for this rifle and I was shocked at how effective this silencer is. I remember when I first screwed it on and fired it for the first time with the suppressor I thought it misfired because it was so quiet. I kept thinking to myself How can they make a suppressor that takes away that much noise? Great job Wolf Airguns for making such an effective suppressor and a good looking one as well.

I read some of the reviews knocking the artwork on the sides.....well,I like it because , though not as professional looking as the Ithica featherlite shotgun I owned, it is a shiny knock off of the ducks, pheasants, and hunting dogs seen on a real Ithica featherlite shotgun !!! Cool , I got to have one for my childhood memories of a girl I used to have !!!......I mean gun.

I did a lot of research before making this purchase. The research paid off! This thing is absolutely amazing! I got the .25 caliber, full length version with 500cc. I absolutely love it. I have already had tons of fun firing all kinds of different .25 pellets through 2x4's, plywood, old sheet metal, old discarded electronics, etc. I mounted a very basic scope and got the HILL PUMP along with it. The pump and sumatra combo is very decent. No issues yet, if you don't mind the exercise. I have tested accuracy at 30 yards and as long as I'm doing my job correctly, it can group very small. I have been shooting it daily since it arrived and I am still impressed every time I pick it up to have some fun with it. People complain about it being heavy. Well, it's true. It is a bit heavy, but what are we here? Little girls? The thing is, it's front heavy because the two tanks are in front. I quickly got over that. It might make a slight decrease in shoulder fire accuracy, having all that weight out front, but I think once you get adjusted to expecting the particular balance, it is fine. I love the wood, and the under-lever. I will repeat this. I LOVE THE UNDER-LEVER. I looked at many side-lever models and just couldn't bring myself to order one of those. I wanted this western look on purpose. Some folks don't buy into that flavor, but I find it appealing. The one thing I don't like about the rifle is the super corny artwork along the side. What were they thinking, putting such a goofy little hunting dog scene along the side of such a fine rifle? The world may never know. I'd much prefer they just engraved the name of the rifle down the side instead of this bizarrely corny engraving. I have eyeballed it many times considering any possibility of covering it up or grinding it off, but that would be as much of a mistake as the original artwork was. Still, if you can get over that cosmetic aspect, the rifle itself is a very impressive, very accurate and VERY POWERFUL tool. It is also freakishly loud, but what do we expect when the pellets are consistently breaking the sound barrier? Of course it's loud. It has a suppressor mount on the barrel to help you with that. I've just taken to wearing ear protection while using it. You can dial it down to be pretty quiet, or dial it up to punch through 2x4's. It's just an amazing rifle and despite a few minor things, I have been extremely satisfied with it.

Pros
1200 fps, under-lever is awesome, very accurate, very powerful, shoots any kind of pellet, adjustable power settings

Cons
THE ARTWORK ON THE SIDE IS CORNY, A little front heavy, It's LOUD!

Very impressed with performance and appearance , even better than pictures or videos. Got mine in 25 caliber and like others have said it is an air hog 10 shots =110 pumps with my Hill pump , but it isn't hard to fill since it comes with a foster fill connector. It is very loud not back yard friendly even with my moderator attached , but does quiet some of the bark , still bites hard though.I always thought my Airforce Condor was top dog but i believe the Sumatra has a slight edge with a 6 round mag and smooth lever action that makes follow-up shots simple. I mounted a 3x12x44mm UTG compact Swat scope with etched glass reticle that is under 12 inches long and weighs in at 21 ounces with a one piece BKL mount. This doesn't seem to add to much added weight since this rifles is not light , almost 9 pounds without a scope, still not hard to carry for a day of hunting. So far I've only tried JSB 25.39 grain pellets (very accurate)with this mag longer pellets can be used.

Pros
Powerful, beautiful stock and forearm seeing is believing , top notch metal detail , deep blueing , foster fill makes it easy to fill , nice iron sites included for those who don't use scopes.

Cons
Loud ,may be heavy for some. Pellets are not held in place can fall out if tilted down. ( When installing mag hold with the muzzle up ).

If it's an under lever action cowboy style gun your looking for, The Sumatra Simply cant be beat. I was a bit afraid of the hunting scene on the side before I bought it, but, in person it's very well done and likeable. I too have the 290cc Carbide and wish I got the 500cc for shots per fill. I only fill to 2500 lbs because I only have a 3200lb scuba tank still I can get 4-6 mags out of a fill depending on where the power wheel is set. Honestly there are so many combinations for this non pellet picky gun between the pellet weight to the power wheel add that to fill pressure and its hard to say how fast it is but were talking .25 cal in my case so I can get a few magazines close to the 900s with 26g pellets and the wheel in red up from green usually four mags without a poi drop. Yet 36g pellets are still in the mid 800s. It'\ would take a decent article written just about the Sumatra there is so much to it which isn't to say its complicated or hard to operate there is just so many ways you can go with it.

Pros
Nearly everything about it.

Cons
Would benefit from a 4500lb fill tank & equipment.

I have a .177 version of this gun! It gives me 32 ft lbs energy shooting a 16.1 eun jun pellet at almost 1000 fps. It is extremely accurate with this pellet only, shooting 3/4" groups at 50 yards! The impact is devastating on squirrels, rabbits, small birds, ducks, and even geese!! Even foxes and coyotes go down with one shot to the head!! So, yeah, you could take ground hogs and raccoon and possums with this gun with head shots! IMHO, simply the BEST bang for the buck!!

Pros
High power Extreme accuracy Reliable

Cons
"Iron" sights suck. but I scoped mine, so not an issur!

I don't see many reviews of this air weapon and am not really sure why. If people aren't purchasing it, that probably means they really haven't heard enough about them. I own the .20 version of this rifle but I see it's out of stock for the moment so I'll say my peace here. The .20 is identical to the .22 other than the .2 difference pellet difference. I've taken small and medium game with it many times as it's best suited as a hunter. The lever action is smooth enough with a fairly clean trigger break. This monster is definitely suited for outdoor only use, as the report is more than my .22's. If you pick this rifle up, please be sure to try the Eun Jin pellets. They almost seem to be made for the rifle more than any other.

Pros
Balance, feel, looks, power, and accuracy.

Cons
The Korean artwork on the receiver leaves little to be desired but it's acceptable.

Hi people,, lee here, as I live in the UK we are restricted to a lousey 12 ft pounds which equates to around 650 ft per second in 22 calibre, and these guns are extremely difficult to obtain also. I am a F.A.C holder and have a rare opportunity to purchase a secondhand 22,, and ive heard these are capable of putting out over 70 ft pounds!. Any advice on how to achieve this would be much appreciated as I love this gun,, Many thanks people" lee Worrell

asked lee worrell

Recently purchased the Sumatra 2500, reading conflicting information. The manual is terrible, the online manual says something different. Using a G6 hand pump, are you supposed to cock the lever before filling or not?

asked Kevin

I assume that one would need to use a short scope.? I saw a review a couple of years ago mentioning the poor quality of the raised comb, and it appears they have deleted that on newer models, so are there other short coming to be made aware of? Who does the warranty work and is it a big hassel to deal with warrenty work? Thank you in advance.

asked Gatorproof

I have one of these and have had it for a while. After about a year it no longer holds a charge. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm told by a tech rep that it is a common and repetitive problem that can be expected every couple of years.

asked Matt

Is this the 500cc sumatra or the 38cc?

asked cole

Hello there! I know how awesome this rifle is and I want to buy one. Can you please tell me if this rifle is durable or not? How long have you owned it and what kind of mechanical problems have you had. Did you have to do 'too much maintenance" in order to get things going with this rifle? I'm asking about this because I know that some rifles do have some mechanical issues...the Marauder's .25 cal magazine, for instance. Thank you very much.

asked A.J.

How many days does the tank last when completely filled and no shots have been fired? Day, week, month?

asked Eric

Sumatras dont like to have full pressure when not being used.I would shoot it and leave only a few hundred pounds of air in it and not leave it filled completely as this can be harder on the seal on this rifle for some reason and they will bleed off the pressure.

darrell from USA

can htis rifle be fitted with telescopic sights

asked thomas masunga

Yes.

Carter from USA

Yes, it has 11mm dovetails.
