Have you ever shot steel BBs at a hard surface? We sure hope not because it's not a very good idea. But if you have, you know they ricochet! What if you didn't have to worry so much about ricochet and could shoot at something hard like a steel target, or even compete in a Cowboy Action Shooting like competition with a BB gun? Now you can! Until now, traditional steel BBs weren't your best option for this type of 3-Gun competition because of ricochet. With the Smart Shot BBs worry less about ricochet and cleanliness and spend more time shooting. They're a great option for indoor shooting range and gallery rifles. If you're tired of plinking with the same old tin can because you're worried about ricochet, now you can enjoy shooting at steel targets. The Excite Smart Shot BBs go through the copper-plating process not once, but twice. They're the exact same diameter as steel BBs (4.35mm). That rigorous process means the Smart Shot BBs are hard enough to prevent lead deformation in the magazine of your gun, but still soft enough to flatten on impact, meaning less ricochet worries for you. Since these BBs keep their shape so well, they are a great option for your spring-loaded magazines. PLEASE NOTE: Since the Smart Shot BBs are made from lead they work best in BB guns that do not require a magnet to keep the BBs in place for shooting

I ordered these to check them out. They actually do have reduced ricochet potential. With my P08 Umarex Luger, 300 FPS, 4" barrel, I shot a couple point blank at my steel backyard BBQ stand and found the bb's a couple of feet away and flattened in about 20% toward the center of the bb, the bb absorbed a lot of energy. But when in my usual shooting conditions of 10 to 25 YDS at water born targets the trajectory of these bb's fell quickly and short of the steel Hornady Black Diamond bb's I usually use. Some seemed to go way off target wild as I can see where every bb lands in the water. Maybe a balance issue with the bb.

Pros
reduced ricocet

Cons
less powerful and decreased in dependable accuracy

These work well in a PPK but in comparison to Hornady Black Diamonds the POA/POI is different, but that was to be expected. They're different weights and material. They DO ricochet upon hitting a hard surface and when i inspected one after being shot at a brick and bouncing back, there was NO deformation at all. Overall though, they work well and hit hard...gonna pick up some more of these for sure!

Pros
Accurate, reliable, consistent

Cons
Too many ricochets from something labeled "low ricochet." Price could be cheaper.

I got a tin of this BB for free when I purchased an air gun from Airgun Depot. I'm so happy Air Venturi invents and manufactures this BB for people to shoot safely especially indoor. Kudo for their ingenuity and effort!

The Smart Shot are the only BBs I use indoors on my action steel targets. For safety reasons they should be the only BBs used indoors. They work very well in pistols and rifles that use a spring loaded magazine, and may work in some gun magazines that don't use a magnet. I occasionally use a pellet trap with paper/cardboard targets filled with ballistic putty for zeroing the sights, but after a few hundred rounds you need to remove steel BBs from the putty (a real pain) to prevent accidental ricochets. Using Smart Shot the groups are smaller with better accuracy. They are uniform and clean handling.

Pros
You can shoot steel action targets indoors

Cons
Scrap the pellet tin packaging, offer more BBs in an easy load container for a lower price
