The Texan SS retains the same solid extruded aluminum frame, the same side lever action, and trigger as the original Texan. You will also find the same 490cc on board air tank and 2 stage trigger. The only major differences feature wise are the Texan SS has a shorter barrel and of course, Air Force's proven sound suppression technology. While this shorter barrel comes at the sacrifice of some power over the un-shrouded version, the ability to shoot such a large caliber round at near silence makes up for it. The Texan SS is still plenty powerful for hunting up to deer sized game and does it at just a whisper.
If you are looking for the ultimate big bore game rifle, the Texan SS is it. Quiet, powerful, reliable, what more can you ask for? When you are ready to take your air gun game to the next level then the Texan SS from AirForce Airguns is ready and willing!

I love this rifle with the exception of one thing. With a straight line architecture (no stock drop - air tank in line with the barrel), there is no space to get a shoulder plant, a cheek plant and see through the scope. I'm a tall guy but with a pretty standard neck length. I have to turn my head sideways to see through the scope. My wife has helped me measure and I need between 4 and 6" of scope rise to have my head fully upright.
The way other straight line rifles such as the AR-15 handle this problem is to put the rear sight up on top of the carry handle - about a 4" rise.
I've searched and haven't found a scope mount with that much rise so I'm talking to a gunsmith about making me a set.
I also bought the ATN electronic scope. Not the stubby one sold here but the full length one that looks like a scope. It is an amazing scope. I just wish I'd had the extra $3k to buy the version with a night vision sensor
I was amazed on the quality of the gun, solid, simple and functional design.
I bought several types of ammo to do my own testing, used the Hawke app to select on the chart the "sweet spot" of a distance to set it based on weight , speed, and ammo's Ballistic Coefficient, by the way there is no much info on the BC's of .45 ammo.
Additional to this combo, buy a Bipod, and a "scuba" type tank, this rifle needs continuos charges after every 5 or 6 shoots to keep it a zeroed in.
