The X5 is a great entry-level air rifle with style, performance and power. The lightweight, X5 single-stroke, spring-piston rifle blasts .177 alloy pellets at 800 feet per second. And the ergonomic cocking grip lets you fully charge the rifle with less effort, shot after shot. The rifled steel barrel of the X5 airgun provides accuracy and years of service. The X5 comes standard with front and adjustable rear sights with fiber-optic inserts—red front and two-dot, green rear—to make target acquisition easy in any light or weather conditions. All X5 receivers come with integral dovetail scope rails. The X5 is mounted in a hardwood, Monte Carlo-style stock for quick target acquisition. The raised, ambidextrous cheek-piece lets you shoot comfortably, regardless of hand preference. A rubber butt-pad is standard for a solid shoulder mount. For added security and control, the X5 has an automatic, ambidextrous safety mounted on the back of the receiver. The X5 air rifle is the ideal airgun for target shooting, plinking and eradicating small pests.

I've had this rifle a little over one year and consider it one the most "fun" guns to shoot. With .177 8 grain lead pellets it averages a little over 600 fps which more than enough for anything within 25 yards. It's "backyard" friendly so the neighbors don't get upset. I'm using my X5 with the factory iron sights and although they aren't match grade they're still quite functional. I have several Weihrauch rifles and still find this little guy a lot of fun.

Pros
Easy cocking, quiet, pretty accurate, light weight.

I'm very disappointed in the staining of the wood. Its like they assembled the rifle first then put the finish on the wood. Some areas where not covered very good and the wood finish in some is pretty rough. I realize this is not an expensive gun, but I expected more out of a Stoeger product.

I like to shoot at 25 yards and when my Stoeger X5 arrived I put it to the test. After a slight adjustment for height and windage, it consistently made 1/2 inch groups at 25 yards using the artillery hold. The fiber optic sights make aiming a breeze. The best pellets for accuracy are Crossman Premier Supermatch 7.9 grain. This is more than I had hoped for in such an inexpensive gun. Based on my past experience with airguns at this distance, it appears to be shooting at around 600 fps. At 25 yards the pellets will be stopped by 2 layers of ballistic cloth ( heavy upholster's cloth) hanging freely. That makes it perfect for backyard shooting. For indoors at 10 meters a good pellet trap would be Ductseal and then use an appropriate back stop. This gun is shooting with an accuracy I'd expect from rifles priced 2-3 times more. Nice stock but could use a bit of polishing.

Pros
Very accurate, nice fiber optic sights front and rear, easy to cock, quiet, lightweight. Shoots at around 600 fps. There are very few springers in this 600 FPS range, as most are lower or much higher.

Cons
None really. The stock could use a bit of polish, maybe wood wax.

The X-5 is a fun gun to shoot. It's plenty accurate, very easy to cock, lightweight, and has a comfortable and good looking stock. It's not overly hold sensitive, and is accurate with an array of pellets. The overall quality of this gun exceeds the price, and for those who like to tune and tinker, it's very easy to dis and re-assemble, though a spring compressor is mandatory. Young shooters will enjoy it as well as adults.
