Excellent rifle- great fit and finish, easy to set up and get shooting right out of the box!
Only gripe is a bit heavy - but easily negated with the addition of sling studs and a sling. Would highly recommend!
ProsExcellent air rifle for the money. Fully capable of taking almost any game animal on the continent out of the box

Accurate is the word here.

This is my second Texan, first came my .45. There is little perceptible difference in the two, weight, feel, perceived recoil are nearly equal. The .357 at 50 meters hits the same using round ball up through 200gn bullets. I hand cast all. The price is a bit steep...until one fires it. Suddenly the $ become meaningless. There are better rifles on the market, but there are none which compare in shear power and accuracy at this price point. One would move far up the price scale to do better. Few shooters are good enough to realize the actual ability of this unit anyway.
Shooting tethered is the only way to go here, get the carbon tank and have a great time. Again, the $ spent will soon fade as you get used to the new toy...
The action is very smooth and entire rig is solid. Air cannot (yet) replace powder, but once you get to know the Texan the powder burners will need to be remembered as they WILL rust sitting in the safe, so don't forget them! If you are the type which tends to tinker and modify, this is a new addiction.
ProsAccurate and powerful! Easily capable of taking any game in the lower 48.
ConsThe progressive valve spends a lot of air with heavy bullets! Less than other rigs of comparable power, but still requires a carbon regulated tank. Round ball is far more economical.

Good hunting rifle

The Texan is an accurate, well built, powerful gun. I have had really good luck with the 250 grain hollow points. They have enough knock down for about anything you want to kill. I target practice with the Hornaday round balls. They are available online at about $13/100. I also like to shoot the 350 grains if you are hunting at 50 yards or so. I shot a 250 grain HP through a 3" piece of split oak log at 50 yards. It kept going and buried deep in the bank behind it. I also was able to go through a cinder block with the 350 grain flat nose at that distance. The gun can easily pass through a true temper wheel burrow at 25 yards and bury the round deep into an oak tree. I have shot as far as 75 yards with good results even from a round ball. That's crazy.
ProsWell built, smooth action, powerful and accurate. Loading is smooth and easy. It is well balanced for such a larg gun and fairly light weight. Works with cheap .457 round ball ammo. The self adjusting valve saves air with these lighter rounds.
ConsI had to Raise the scope height on the hawk scope that it came with. I achieved this by installing a dove tail to picaninny rail and using a high profile picaninny ring set. The dove tail rails are a pain since everything has gone to picaninny rails. The stock is Spartan, but it keeps the weight of the tank in back where you want it. The gun is very loud. I could not shoot it at my range in my yard. I solved this by making a suppressor for it. That being said, you better make sure you have sand bag and steel plate backstop or the like. The gun is also long but I knew that before I ordered it.

Not exactly what it should be!

This gun is very similar to Airforces Condor series, except it is a good bit heavier. The gun is very powerful .The problem l have had is when l fill gun to 3000psi,the first 4 shots are very weak, and when gun gets to about 2700psi. It shoots normal. But l believe I am loosing at least 1 or 2 shots ,and in a hunting situation, I'm worried about reliability. I have verified gauge on tank and pump. I have called Airforce and was told that they would get back with me , which has never happened. I have had problems with condor tanks where when l take a shot they sometimes will exhaust all the air in tank. Airforce has never resolved this problem either.
ConsUnreliable valves in tanks For the price of these guns ,l don't think you should have to worry about the tanks.
