I purchased this Model Texan to hunt Nebraska Whitetails. The Platte River corridor I hunt is heavily wooded and shots of seventy-five yards are usually the maximum distance. I cast my own slugs using both N. O. E. and Accurate moulds. The alloy is 30:1 lead/tin. Weights range from 300 grains to 450 grains, all group within two inches at fifty yards (sighted distance) using iron sights. I use a Parker Hale rear with a base I made and a 11 mm clamp on AR type front with a .060 blade.
The trigger is one of the best on any of the air guns I own. I get three consistent impact shots per fill of 2900 psi, that is sufficient for the hunting scenario I utilize. I would like to tell you about how it harvested a deer but they just did not seem to cooperate since I purchased the rifle this first year of ownership. I have not tried the rifle scoped as it never intended to have one mounted. Two inches from a sitting position or with shooting sticks would translate to one hole off a bench.
