All gas springs (gas pistons, gas rams) are NOT created equal! The Nitro Piston 2 has it all over the original Nitro Piston and almost every other gas spring on the market. Most gas springs have a reputation of being hard to cock, but the NP2 put an end to that. According to airgun writer Tom Gaylord, it's the easiest-cocking gas piston he's ever shot. But Crosman didn't stop the improvements there. They also improved the trigger so it feels like it's been tuned! Imagine that: A factory trigger that breaks crisp and clean. It has a significantly lighter trigger-pull, not one of those so-called "lawyer" triggers that requires Herculean strength to shoot. As long as they were making improvements, Crosman decided to make a better and more effective integral sound suppression system that really is quiet. You'll notice an immediate difference between the report from your Nitro Piston 2 air rifle and the older Nitro Piston guns or other brands. So, let's add up what you'll get in this great package: Easy cocking, fantastic trigger and less noise. And, it's assembled in Crosman's plant in Bloomfield, New York. While that's almost everything you could ever want, there's one more thing ?and it's really important: Accuracy. When we tested a Nitro Piston 2 at an industry show, we hit everything we aimed at. Isn't that what you want to do? We thought so! The Benjamin Trail NP2 dressed in a Realtree Xtra camo stock isn't a dream?it's a dream come true. It's here for you to enjoy, to hit everything you're aiming at, and not strain with each cock and each pull of the trigger. They've put the fun back in airgunning!

This is a great rifle. The scope is good enough, but not great. When you go above about 5x you can't get the target and reticle lines both in focus, at least with my eyes. I do use/need #250 reading glasses.
When set on 4 power, the scope provides perfect images. The ballistic drop reticle works great as well.
The rifle is very accurate. I can easily shoot 1 inch groups at 30 yards. I've been using Crosman Premier round nose pellets. I can hit a fence post at over 150 yards about 7 of ten shots. A coffee can on that fence post gets hit about 1/3 of the time. Golf ball size targets at 50 yards are about 8 of 10.
There are the occasional "flyers", but they can be predicted by a different feel when inserting the pellet in the bore. Usually the tight ones go astray.
The fact all you need to do is cock, load and shoot is an asset when there are no compressed air stations available.
It will serve my needs well for years to come.

Pros
Reasonable price. Nice camo. Scope holds zero. Easy to cock. Very quiet. Accurate.

Cons
The tapered piece between the receiver and barrel shroud is plastic. It's the only thing that degrades the quality and appearance. I would change it if I were the manufacturer. It's possible to hold the barrel in a way that unscrews the barrel shroud when you cock the rifle. Once you know that, you simply hold the barrel so is stays tight.

James A from USA

do it have take down power to take down a bobcat

asked tavaris

I would not recommend attempting to take down a bobcat or any other larger size game with this rifle. For larger size game I would recommend a PCP in .25 caliber or greater.
