It can take it
From my 400 ft. per on my co2 pistols to my 800 ft. per on my FX wildcat or even my Browning 22lr. pistol it's no problem for this trap.
ProsHeavy construction, love the target holder.
ConsCould be a little larger for 50 ft co2 pistol targets.

Does exactly what it is for
Sure makes a gong noise but it's steel for crying out loud. Maybe a bit over priced but I zeroed in at 10 yds with my Benjamin Armada .25 call never dented it worth the cash. Yes as in other reviews one corner was bent but the paint wasn't chipped so that means it was bent and painted like that at the factory. Not shipping.
ProsJust steel does exactly what it was designed for.

Best trap made
Had one of these for ten years, no air rifle will ever wear it out. It might fade but will last a lifetime outside. Will get extra for different distances. Always wanted two of these anyway.
ProsThe best target trap.

Best backyard bullet catcher
My property is 33 yds X 100 yds i put the trap in different locations and hights on my property backed up with 2 sheets of 4x4 3/4 " plywood to take care of misses. The clip makes target changes a breeze

Just Right
This trap works great. Good for multiple ranges and styles of targets. Some reviews consider it a bit loud but seems fine to me. Catches all lead and easy to empty.
ProsSolid construction, easy to handle. Convenient size.
ConsNone.

Great safety item
I wanted something to hold targets and also to collect the lead pellets, this works very well and has caught all my 'shots'. Very well build perfect for Air Rifle pellets. Some mentioned when the pellets hit it's noisy. I don't have any noise with mine, I just hang my target and it's great! I'm in a neighborhood so I try to be discreet with my 'enjoyment' and this with my Air Rifle doesn't get any better so pleased!!
ProsVery well built, strong and sturdy.

Great with pellets or powder up to .25 cal
I've been using these traps for .177 and .22 pellets, along with .22LR rifles and .25 acp pistols; it has handled all quite well. Great in the back yard, or in the National Forest.

To minimize the few errant ricochet pellets and lead spray from higher powered rifles, a simple piece of cardboard folded over a piece of carpet to cover the opening can be clamped at the top of the trap. Then, two small clips at the sides of the cardboard can hold 2 Gamo 5.5" targets side by side; very handy.

I've bought 5 of these traps for family and friends, and they all give them 5 Stars.

I wasted a lot of money on various lighter weight traps that were all soon dented and deformed beyond safe use-form, even from pellet pistols. I should have started out with these Champion Heavy Duty Pellet Traps and saved myself a lot of money, and prevented a lot of close calls from ricochet pellets all over the back yard.
ProsHandles higher powered pellets and keeps the lead in one place; in the trap. Keeps lead pollution to a minimum.
ConsTarget attachment is a bit awkward if you just use the dangling clip at the top with no backing, but a piece of padded cardboard easily solves that issue.

Will stop what I've hit it with !
P lease just use brains where ,and at what angle you set up trap !
ProsI use strictly pure lead pellet's / Bullets , trap flattens them right out and slugs stay caught in trap ! I don't recommend hybrid ammo , some tend to shatter / shrapnel if shooter hits trap wrong !
ConsNot a con ,just a fact metal on metal is loud ! many ways to quiet down hits . I glued rubber backed carpet to outside of trap dulls the ring ~

Champion Heavy Duty Metal Trap
This is a decent backstop for the .177 and .22 cal air rifles and pistols I am using. It doesn't catch all the pellets. Some manage to jump out but over all it does the job.
ProsCatches most of the pellets.
ConsA bit over priced in my opinion. That said, it is heavily constructed.

Heavy Duty Trap Great For Indoor/Outdoor Use!
I would have given this item five stars, but the bottom back edges were bent inward upon arrival. I straightened them out as best as I could and constructed a pedestal table to sit the trap on so that it could be engaged from a standing position as it is recommended that the trap and target be at the same elevation as the shooter. I was looking for a trap to be able to shoot indoors at a distance of 15 yards and the first trap I purchased made by another company was too light weight to handle being fired into with my new Gamo Whisper Fusion IGT .177 Cal. air rifle. The Champion heavy duty metal trap is constructed of much heavier metal and should last a very long time as long as the instructions on the trap are followed.
ProsHeavy duty, easy to carry, and easy to set up and use.
ConsSlight trap damage upon receipt.

Don't drop it on your foot!
Exactly what I was looking for to be able to shoot indoors with a high powered pellet rifle. This thing is build for .22 rimfire, so there's no way a pellet rifle will ever penetrate it.

I lined the back with $15 worth of the duct seal putty I'd read about - completely silent.
ProsExtremely sturdy and well -made. Add the duct seal and it weighs around 30 pounds!
ConsPrice, but then, you get what you pay for!

This is the best Trap for high power Pellets guns Bar none!! It will last a life time if you take care of it..
I bought this trap a few months ago and it's just simply the best you can buy.. I put a piece on carpet in the back behind the target and it's perfectly quiet also it designed to withstand 22cal. rimfire and 17 cal. rimfire so I'm thinking pellets are never gonna wear the trap out!! Love this thing!!
ProsNever a worry about it wearing out.. Also you don't need to buy a new one every year..

Great Bullet/Pellet Trap
I purchased the Champion .22LR Bullet Trap several years ago before Airgun Depot carried them, at my local gun shop. For any modern pellet rifle, this is the way to go. My Crosman .177 Phantom springer at around 12 fpe was shredding half-inch board backstops, never mind my 22 fpe Benjamin Discovery .22 cal. The trap can hold up to a 8x11.5 inch target - great for sighting in; it can be carried using the upper rail rod that supports the target clip; and best of all, it collects the lead. I set it out of the ground at 10/20/30 yards for sighting-in and just general target shooting. It was money well spent and the thing is as solid as a rock.
ProsEasy to carry out to where you want to shoot; very well built; takes a larger 8x11.5 inch target; the target clip holder can be replaced by any style binder clip, should you hit the clip while sighting in; built solid as a rock; pellets do not bounce out of the trap; collects the lead - easy to pour out the spent pellets into a jar.
ConsWhile a tad heavy, the robustness is needed to stop modern pellet rifle fpe power.
