Nasty pellet
April 17, 2019
My next door neighbor called me from our walking trail to say a coyote was stalking her and her dog. She was terrified. I hustled out to find them and found a very angry coyote. It didn't here me coming. From about 20 ft. I put a rocket right behind his ear. Dropped dead on the spot. I love this pellet.
ProsNot a one.

A True Premium Pellet
August 25, 2016
This has been for a while now one if the truest pellets I've used with my Ruger black hawk elite. Its .177 cal and even at distance this Pellet hold a very accurate trajectory. Its Penetration at distance is also very good compared to the heavier 10+ grain pellets.

Shot these through my Benjamin Steel Eagle. when I first fired them had less than 1 inch group at 25 yrds. On pigeon patrol found that these aren't very deadly with first shot. I need something with first shot kill power.

Headline Sez it all- Better Accuracy & Penetration
October 21, 2015
I'm shooting these out of a Diana RWS 34 air rifle. I only use iron sites and I can hit a quarter at 60 feet consistently. These pellets will penetrate a half inch piece of plywood at 60 feet out of my RWS. They will pass through an egg an not knock it over.
ProsSolid, true shooting pellet.
ConsPay attention to what is behind what you are shooting at. These will pass right through a chipmunk or squirrel.

June 5, 2015
This pellet is awesome, I get extremely tight grouping. I use a gamo Whisper fusion Elite (igt model). The gamo lethal and PBA are horrible. I had the rockets hitting with in a quarter size then tried the others and was barely hitting the target. These are the only pellets I use for small game and betting my friends on target shooting. They literally have paid for themselves. Love these pellets
ProsThey are a good weight and do provide a clean kill shot.
ConsOnly come in 150 count.

Amazing groups
November 25, 2014
Have a Game Shadow Sport that loves them. Tried 3 other types of pellets and best group was 3" at 25 yds. I'm getting 1" groups with Rockets. Remember 90% of the time if your not grouping it's the pellets not your rifle.
ProsGreat penetration and very accurate in my Gamo Shadow Sport.
ConsHave none.

hunting or target modern improved pellet
July 21, 2014
my impression of this lead with copper nosed round is it's more like a bullet; penetrating a thicker can better, is less noisy and accurate, but would of course pose a ricochet risk with knockdown or some other targets. Overall a practical hunting or plinking pellet for my Ruger 177 Air Magnum which it fits the chamber perfectly
Conssteel tip could ricochet

Skull crushers for sure !
July 1, 2014
I have mixed groupings with these between my Ruger Air Magnum & my Stoeger X-20. The Ruger does not seem to have the consistency with these as the X-20. Get 5 shot .75" groups with the X-20 from the bench but 3.5 groupings with the r.a.m. from 25 yards. They do have very nice skull penetration ability though, 75' shot on a raccoon in a tree took him down instantly with the r.a.m. once I actually hit him.

For some reason these pellets don't work for me.

Used them with Beeman P17, Stoeger X-20 and X50, unfortunately they shoot all over the target with all 3.

Passes completely through rabbits' skulls for quick, clean, and humane pest control.
ProsAs lethal as advertised. As a bonus, they punch clean holes in paper targets, too!

Consistent Pellet
March 10, 2014
For general target and shooting at my shop this pellet is very consistent. I shoot these out of my RWS and also a Umarex and Gamo. It must be he BB in the end that keeps it straight. I have a area in my shop that is 19 yards from my gun rest and the target , I can consistently put patterns inside of the nickel on the targets I print out from you guys. I will say this, my RWS is the most consistent, but it is several hundred more dollars than the others, so maybe if I had the higher end of those guns it would be more equal. I would shoot these for hunting as well.

After sighting in my Crosman with the Gamo Rockets, I can get 1/2 inch or better groups at 35 feet anytime... and yes, they do a good job on Starlings.
These are great all around pellets. And Airgun Depot, I like the way you do business.

Falls short of expectations
April 4, 2013
I can group with this round decently at up to 25 yards. I wouldn't use this for anything other than plinking. When it impacts, it just doesn't produce the force I thought it would. I'm whipping these out of a Gamo whisper with a short barrel near 1000fps. Simply doesn't have any penetration or knockdown. To me it's just a weird pellet.
ProsGroups at 20 yards decently No problems loading it
Consnot enough penetration not enough energy transfer Why sabot a round ball?
March 15, 2013

ProsExcellent up to 15 meters.

gamo rocket .177 pellets
March 1, 2013
I like to use these in my 357 pistol. They are easy to tell which way they go in with the BB tipped end. I take small game with my beeman 1073 with the .177 barrel at 75 to 125 feet. When shooting in closer, I put the .22 barrel in and shoot .22 caliber rockets.
ProsThese are all around good pellets. Decent knockdown power.

Good flight pattern and penetration.
A place, in another place
I didn't like them much at all
January 26, 2013
I've seen a lot of good reviews on these pellets, but I didn't hardly even like them. I bought them at Dick's sporting goods for about $10, which I know is a lot more than what they cost online. First of all, at least half the skirts of the pellets were bent. I never have that problem with the Crosman Premier Hollowpoints. They are heavy, and make a different sound coming out. That's neither bad nor good. I thought since they were heavy they'd have a little more knockdown power. Boy, was I wrong. I shot one squirrel with them. I hit it, went over and saw blood on the ground, but assumed it just went in a nearby dead tree and died. Oh well, I'll get another one. Now, a couple months later, I killed a squirrel on that very tree (using different pellets), and while skinning it, to my surprise, found a pellet in the body, but I got a headshot. It was a Gamo Rocket. I hit that squirrel, and it didn't die, it didn't even exit! It was a 15 yard shot and with all the other pellets I've used out of this gun (Crosman Phantom) it would have exited. The pellet barely expanded at all, the steel tip didn't come out. One good thing though; these are excellent metal penetrators. These tore through a very thick thermos when no other pellet I used could. These will go through 2 metal pellet tins backed up together, or at least make a big dent in the back of the second. I don't know if my bad experience was because I got a bad batch, or I'm not using a Gamo gun, I don't know.
ProsMeal penetration Packaging (forgot to mention in description)
ConsExpansion Lethal power Wood penetration (forgot to mention in description) Price Skirts Bent

June 7, 2012
Ruger air hawk 1000 fps, shooting at a beat up, wore out 8" skillet, hanging from tree limb, like you'd grill a sandwich in, at 45 yards, standing w/no rest, I hit it 3 out of 5 times, when I use the bench I hit it every time, 5/5 w/out fail. It hit w/ more authority than the red fire, seemed more accurate than red fire, tried Crosman SSP no lead & couldn't even hit the pan they flew every where.

10 bucks was too much at god's country for only a 150 pellets,i will use them on the raccoons though, which is what I originally bought the rifle for.
Prosconsistent, hits hard

Armor busting pellet
April 26, 2012
Gamo makes great pellets and this one is no exception. They are typically made a half of a hair wider at the base allowing for maximum use of applied force. This is definitely a pellet to add to your arsenal. Excellent and really deep penetration with the Copper bb in the head of the pellet. Out performs regular PBA ammo but does not outperform the PBA raptor.
Prosgreat penetration, very little amount of unusable pellets, i only had one bad pellet in a tin of 150
Consthe tip and the lead body often seperate after impact

January 8, 2012
I was turned onto this pellet by my friend. He had very good results with it but i wasn't sold until i sat down and gave them a shot myself and let me tell you after shooting a hole tin i will never turn back. I have tryed shooting a wide variety of pellets and the Gamo Rocket knocks the rest completely out. These pellets fly straight and true every shot there are no tumblers. My clusters have become far more uniform and the impact force of this pellet is stronger then any i have shot.
ProsUniform straight flight Hard Impact force

best I've found
February 1, 2011
I've tried five different pellets from my Remmington Vantage 1200 and these seem to pattern the best. Consistant 1/4" groups at 25yards. Haven't had any of the five I've tried throw more than a 1/2" group at 25 yards. The Gamo red fires were a close second and almost the same point of impact just not as tight of group. Will give them a try on the local squirrl population this week.

These are great! but why a low 3 rating, cause any rifle you shoot them out of you have to sight in specificallyfor this ammo.

This is no doubt the best pentatrator i've used. acuracy is good but not great.

But i like em.

June 22, 2010
these pellets do what they were intended to do which is penetrate better then an all lead pellet without completely deforming. i shoot these in clay balls at 15 yrds. and then took them out to examine them. most time the pellet goes straight threw and i don't find it. when i do most times its shape. another thing is these pellets are much longer then a normal pellet and they hit hard, but really maintain accuracy. gamo did a good job with these only theyre to expensive to become my regular pellet. $5 for 150? that's to much i can get 500 crossman premier hollow points for about $5. if you're thinking about purchasing these pellets i recommend the non lead version which is faster better for you and your barrel.

Good if you like heavy pellets
January 18, 2010
This pellet is a good choice for close range shots but not very good for shots past 35-55 yards (check out our reviews on the Gamo Shadow Fox which we were shooting these pellets out of). Also aren't the most accurate for longer shots because they are too long and catch wind too easily. They are very dirty and we don't want to wash them because were afraid that the ball will fall out. They have wings on the sides and we hate peeling them off. They are pretty accurate closer than 35 yards. We like heavy pellets that's why we rated 5 stars.Don't let the bad things that we said keep you from buying a pack. Maybe you'll have better luck than us.

Good Job Gamo
October 28, 2009
I have just shot over 100 of these pellets at 10,20,30, and 40 feet. after 10 shots they broke though the 1" plywood. I shot them out of a RWS Diana Model 34 with No scope, I noticed they shot High in groups about 1/4" above the bulls eye.
Great Pellet, Accurate, though hit high.

Pellet Jams
September 24, 2009
I just purchased a Beretta XXtreme and decided to try a few other forms of pellets, one of them being the GAMO Rocket. I'm just plinking at targets (no animals, although I did buy the gun because of raccoons) so I'm not using the pellets for hunting as their marketing suggests. Neverthelss, I still thought it would work fine in the multi-shot beretta. Unfortunately to my surprise, once the eight shot clip was loaded with the Rockets, I quickly found out that the pellets are slightly too long. Basically this pellet is made up of a very small copper ball bearing plus a lead skirt. When loaded into the clip the ball bearing is not flush with the front of the clip. I did try out a few of the Rockets and was able to load them one by one, which is a total pain and completely defeats the purpose of a clip but when I was able to fire them single shot, they did fine. JUpon impact, the ball bearing actually separates from the lead skirt. Overall and when I was able to ge tthem to fire, I did like the pellet, it just doesn't work properly in a clip. I suppose it would work well for a rifle.

pretty accurate and strong but wasnt too happy with the quality control of the pellets.
after comming across 3 bad pellets in a row, i decided to inspect each pellet. i pulled out at least 20 that ranged from slightly deformed to extremely deformed.
and with only 150 in the can, 20 is a 13% loss
but a good pellet... if you find one

nice pelets for a winchester or crossman 100x, but for any clip loaded guns, they seem to jam up on me, very hard hitting, and accurate over longer distances, but it does seem to catch wind preety easily, 4 stars anyway
