The Gamo Silent Stalker will serve you well for years to come. The IGT (Inert Gas Technology) gas piston replaces the metal mainspring usually found in spring-piston air rifles. A gas spring is better than a metal spring because it requires no maintenance! Whether you hunt small game or just shoot garden pests off your porch, the Gamo Silent Stalker is perfect for the job. We predict it'll become your go-to gun whenever you need to dispatch a pest or hunt quarry.

Solid and consistently and extremely accurate round, after round. Powerful enough for just about every varmint and small game. Have killed squirrels and rabbits as well as many other small game with this gun. Scope that came with the gun is not great and we replaced it soon after we purchased the gun. The recoil on the gun requires the scope to be mounted on a one piece scope mount in order to keep the scope from sliding within the rings.

Pros
Powerful and accurate. Solid and comfortable

Nice rifle. Good quality. Powerful. Good decision for that money.

After mounting the scope that came with the rifle the first shot was 4" high at 1 o'clock. After the scope was adjusted the second shot was 2" high. The third time the scope was adjusted I was consistently inside 1" circle at 15 yards. I am shooting GAMO Rocket Ammo. I think this is a great rifle at a great price. This is my first air rifle and after looking at many rifles on line I'm glad I bought the Silent Stalker IGT. If you are looking for a first rifle I don't think you can go wrong with this rifle. A lot of people talk about the scope not being any good but mount the scope and find out for yourself. It is more than adequate. You can always spend more money for a new scope if you want.

Pros
Nice shooting rifle that is relatively light weight. The rifle shoots great right out of the box. The price was also attractive for a first air rifle.

Cons
This rifle would be 5 stars but the scope I received with the rifle was not new. After I removed the caps to adjust the scope you could clearly see that a screwdriver had been used to adjust the scope in the past.

This gun takes a bit of getting used to but once you get the hang of it its deadly accurate. Don't let the word 'silent' in its name fool you, this thing sounds like a 22 long. After you open the box, toss the scope in the trash. Do not bother yourself with trying to sight in that scope. I put a 3-9x40 from NC star on there and getting 1 inch groups at 30 yards. It is also nice and light so you wont' get tired carrying it.

Cons

Ordered one of these from AGD on the Daily Special. Rifle was in like new condition when it arrived. I gave it a ho-hum greeting. Installed a CP4x16AO that I rec'd from AGD. It is light (I like light), and looks decent but not a "bragging looks" rifle. I grabbed some pellets and went shooting. HOLY CRAP!! This thing is wicked and very accurate. The horrible trigger I have read so much about was screwed all the way down and it was not that bad at all. Actually, better than the Crosman triggers, in my opinion. I shot at 15 and 25 yards. The RWS Supermag WC, Skenco Ultrashock HP, and the AA Field Heavy were all one ragged hole. If I used a pellet less than 8 grs, the groups opened up. It doesn't shoot pellets in the 7 gr range worth talking about. It's a powerful air rifle and heavy pellets are its thing.

Pros
Lightweight Rugged looking Accurate IGT!!!!

Cons
Notice that I did not shoot it with the scope it came with. I knew better than that through lots of experience ordering and shooting airguns. Gonna put that on a CO2 rifle. Order one of those OPEN BOX Centerpoint 4X16AO scopes from AGD. I have 3 of those. Heck of a deal!!!!

I got this gun around Christmas time and it has worked great! Once you get the scope sighted in, you can get 5 rounds in an inch group. Very accurate and powerful. It is good for small game hunting. Definitely recommend.

Pros
Accurate Powerful Durable

Cons
Nothing

I bought the gamo silent stalker in January. Shot about 400 pellets through it. I tested six types of pellets and used 3 different scopes. I wasted 5 days on this gun. At no time did this gun ever group 5 shots inside of a orange or a grape fruit. I sent the gun back to Airgun Depot. They exchanged the gun for a Hatan model 95. The 95 is a pretty gun with a walnut stock. Plenty of power, accuracy, and not much louder. Right out of the box, the gun shot a 10 round group inside of a nickle at 12 yards. The 95 is heavy. For the money, the 95 is a way better gun.

Pros
Fairly quiet

Cons
Inaccurate and that is what it's about

I was looking for an air rifle that I could shoot crows, squirrels, and starlings with in the off season. This air rifle is just what I needed. It's week built, accurate, and powerful! I never mounted the Gamo scope it came with, as the reviews warned against it. I mounted a Burris 4-12x scope and shoot Gamo's Red Fire hunting ammo and the results have been great. The accuracy of this gun depends on the shooter. You don't shoot these guns like normal rifles. Once you figure out the "artillery" hold it's deadly accurate at 50 yds. It's not as loud as people say. I took my 22 and this Gamo to sight both in and it's not nearly as loud as the 22. There are quieter more expensive air rifles, but this one doesn't bother my neighbors and didn't push any ducks that were on the water when I sighted it in.

Pros
Sale price Powerful Accurate Cheap and fun to shoot

Cons
Wish the trigger was a little crisper and metal. Scope is junk.

WOW! This is more like a Firearm than an air rifle. Blew a hole in a squirrel at 40 yrds. I like a hollow point 17mm. This is my first adult air rifle since my daisy red rider BB gun in 1956. It won't be my last!

Pros
Feels like a rifle.

Cons
Scope is not up to the rifles quality.

why cant I get a good group shot

asked steve

Are the scope rings high quality if I wanted to switch? Which trigger should I buy from Charlie da tuna?

asked Harry

Yes, the rings are normal, I never had a problems with it. Rings not bad, but the scope is little bit poor. I think that the 4-32 scopes are for the short ranges shooting, the rifle can make more.

Scott from USA

What would do better for a kill shot .177 or .22, and how well do you like this gun?

asked Austin

18 grain domed .22 Cal to kill as it has more density to the projectile. I'm sorry to say that I returned both guns. I couldn't get a decent group at 10 yards. Keep in mind my gun was a .177. The .22 should be more accurate.

Jesse Harper

Great gun, but not what I was looking for. I need a quiet weapon to take care of the squirrel and blackbird population in a moderately populated neighborhood. The "silent" stalker is a huge misnomer. It sounds like a big game rifle when it fires. Definitely NOT neighbor friendly!

JB

I guess it will depend on what you want to kill. in my opinion, the .177 is a bit light for any thing above a rat size, and it has to be a head shot for an instant kill. I use the .22 for animal hunting. As far as my Silent Stalker goes, it is very accurate, and I have had no problems with the scope. There has been a lot of complaints about the 4X39, but I have no problem with it for target work

Garth from USA

The gun is a great gun for the money I have the .177. It does well for smaller game have never shot anything bigger than a pigeon. The only complaint that I have is the scope that comes with it is a little flimsy. Found that the Gamo Raptor power pellets work good with the gun.

Eric from USA

If you are looking to kill things the .22 is definitely the best for that job. The .17 cal works great at killing birds and squirrels and is much cheaper to shoot which is why I chose it but for larger game the .22 is better.

Matthew from USA

This is my first look at the new technology, I'm an old timer. In your opinion, what makes the Gamo better than its competitors?

asked Alan Spoto

What is the range of this rifle? Is this a good rifle for Beginner?

asked Kunwar

What animals can you kill with this gun?

asked konstandinos

You can use this rifle to hunt small game such as rabbits, doves, and squirrles. This rifle is made for small game hunting. I absolutley LOVE this rifle!

C. Jordan from USA

Since the nitro guns don't have the double shock recoil, does this mean that a regular rifle scope can be used on it. I am thinking about buying and have a variable scope I used on TC 7mm contender pistol but don't want to destroy a really good scope. Warren-Daphne, Al

asked Warren Stanley

Do you have the confidence to shoot 40 to 50 yds with this gun how accurate.

asked kevan

There is a lot to consider in answering this question. First is, I don't know what skill level you are. Next, is this your first air rifle? Air rifles are a different animal in a lot of respects. I'm still figuring things out myself but it seems to me barrel time due to the speed of the projectile will require a special hold for the gun called the artillery hold that allows the to recoil and move the rifle how it wants to. I know this sounds counter intuitive but too much grip tends to open up your grouping. Are you willing to practice practice practice and upgrade to a mil dot adjustable objective scope? There's a lot to consider where you would shoot is there always lots of wind so you will have to adjust for that and know you will have to send a lot of lead down range to lean proper hold over for your gun at every range you would choose to shoot therefore laser range finder if bird watching Starlings if you follow me. Lots of info on the web from people with more experience than me, however; 35 to 50 yds is right where my son and I are planning to "watch" a few Starlings from. Hope this helps steer you in the right direction. What a lot of it comes down to is if you want devastating power down range and quicker shots with a repeater is how much can you spend in this market? Bunches, lots, and heaps. Is this a good place to start? I thought so. It's what I bought for my son. He hasn't got that many rounds through it yet but has already shown signs that the groups are fairly good for a beginning shooter, not just air rifle beginner period. I'm banking on it being a good first step on the road to a few good stories to share for our time spent together.

The trigger is supposed to have an adjustment, however, mine was screwed in as far as it will go when I received it. Has anyone been able to shorten the trigger pull on a new rifle?

asked Phil

Phil, that adjustment thing is sort of questionable. Some say its a lawyer thing, and I agree totally with that. I am not very familiar with this air rifle, but I do know that on all the crosman rifles I own, that turning the screw no matter which way, doesn't change a darn thing. That's why Charlie da Tuna offers triggers for the Gamo and Crosman. So don't think that messing with that screw is worth the effort. Hope that helps. When you shop for a Crosman or Gamo and it says two stage adjustable, IT AIN'T SO!!!!

Gibby

How is this gun for hunting small game?

asked Brian

With head shots, rabbits, squirrels, and small pests will be taken down no problem with this air gun.

Steve from USA

What is the noise level on this model? Is it louder or quieter than the "conventional" spring rifles?

asked douglas l green

It is definately quieter than most air rifles in this category.

Gibby

In general nitro piston's are quieter than spring. "With Nitro Piston Technology you get 70% Less Noise then the competitor's “quiet” break barrel. Gas Piston Technology uses Nitrogen as the power source, instead of a steel Spring. This dramatically reduces felt recoil by eliminating the "double hit" and "spring torque" of a steel spring. It also has a quicker lock time which leads to increased accuracy" Source- https://www.airgundepot.com/benjamin-nitro-piston-air-rifles.html
