Excellent made, good priced pellet rifle
December 9, 2011
I just got my new Hatsan 1000S in a couple of days ago and ..........LOVE IT !!! It shoots very hard and holds very good groups with the right kind of pellet. I got golfball groups with RWS Super H at 30 yds and with the PBA Platinums I got less than a quarter groups at 30 yds. I have yet to shoot it thru my chronograph to see the actual FPS, but I will soon. Overall this is a very impressive gun for the $$$. The spring action is a little loud but not nothing that is to bad. For the performance, I can stand a little noise from the spring.
ProsExcellent shooting rifle, pretty good scope, pretty easy cocking for 29lbs.
Consscope rings could be a bit higher to see open sights

Quality gun
December 3, 2011
Just got this Rifle and only a few shots, but I have been looking for an air rifle for some time. Went to Academy and examined various brands. I decided to go with the Hatsan since I have their 12 Gauge Semi-auto, which out performs any semi-auto I have had before. This gun for the price is hard to beat. At 112 dollars you get upper level quality for a great price. This gun came with a scope, and a bipod. This gun is heavy and the weight bias is to the front. Which I like, since the forward weight makes the gun stable. With that said, this gun would not be good for kids, or a small woman. Also the scope mounts are high enough to still use the metal sights, but just barely. I would upgrade the scope mounts and go with higher mounts.
ProsPrice, Quality, Balance, Trigger, Ease of use.

Amazing Shooter
December 26, 2019
Recieved this gun yesterday and already fell in love with it. The gun shoots phenomenal. With some cheap Crosman Premiere Hollow Point pellets, I'm shooting quarter sized groups at 20 yards with iron sights. When I received this gun, the scope Crosshairs were broke, but hoping to hear back from Hatsan on the warranty.
Pros-Shoots amazing (knock on wood) -Balanced -Easy to cock for the amount of energy this thing produces -Comfortable to shoot -Great iron sights -Smooth trigger
Cons- Scope seems nice, but was broken out of the box - A tad on the heavy side. - Not as quiet as you'd expect

Low rating reviews R wrong
February 21, 2018
I've had my striker 1000s for 2 years and I LOVE it. I see all these reviews saying it has terrible accuracy or a crappy scope but I know better. It did take about 400 shots to break it in and it was slightly erratic before that, but after break in it has become superb. I go to the dump and shoot rats 100 meters or so. I rarely miss and when I do it's due to the rat moving as I pull the trigger. If you want a reliable, accurate, and very affordable single shot air rifle, the Hatsan Striker is the one for you.
ProsPrice, accuracy, power, comfort, reliability
ConsYou need some upper body strength to cock and load the rifle. Not really a bad thing as you don't have to worry about the kid getting hold of it

Accurate at 25 yards
December 12, 2017
I have three Hatsan rifles. This is very accurate at 15 yards. That H&N Baracuda shot a very tight pattern. It has a strong recoil. It seems my trigger is more than the rated trigger. I haven't addressed it yet but it seems like it's closer to 6 lb. Of all my air rifles this carries the most energy at the muzzle.
ProsAccurate, it's light, and it's inexpensive.
ConsThe trigger on my rifle it is a hard trailer to pull. The recoil is very strong.

a couple problems
June 16, 2017
received the gun and shot it soon after without attaching the scope, the fiber optic sights were dead on at 30 yards but don't like the trigger, after turning the screw clockwise to shorten the trigger pull length the trigger became too hard to pull and so went back to the longer pull and easier trigger, being used to having a moderate hair trigger will take some time to getting used to,now the bigger problem, after shooting the gun around 30 or 40 times while cocking the gun, which i do by sitting the butt of the gun on the ground between my feet and pushing forward, the screw on the left side of the receiver pulled thru the polymer material, managed to screw it mostly back in but it still won't tighten down like the right side so cosmetically it affects the looks of the gun but did not affect the cocking mechanism, knowing what i know now i would have bought the 1000x with the wood stock so other than that i like the gun,not to loud shoots hard.i would not buy another airgun with the plastic or whatever material, would stick with wood and probably go the the air piston instead of the spring piston

Its very powerful, can easily take a squirll out of trees from far away. Its a bit hard to cock and a little loud but because of all the power it has I dont even mind it because its worth it. Scope is also not so great.(needs better mount because my scope is always off).

Does not scare pets like a fire arm rifle sound.
August 25, 2016
Have shot it a few times . Does not seem to scare pets like a normal 22 rifle sound. Trying to sight in scope that it came with. Not sure about it yet. Power seems OK. I got the .25 cal. It sinks pellet into a hard maple stump I cut for back stop of targets. Have not seen ground hog ,now that I have a gun that I can shoot in city limits. (No discharge of Firearms) Neighbors call the cops. When you shoot ground hog eating the garden.
ProsDoes not seem to scare pets. Like normal rifle shot sound .22 firearm VS .25 air
ConsNeed to have a sling. Or optional mount .

Anyone looking for a springer with a heck of a punch, look no further. I have been shooting my with open sights until I get it broken it but it is really very good with the fiber optic sights. A scope will make it even better. I bought it to correct a squirrel problem. The good thing about the 25 caliber is that the wound cavity is so great you don't need a head shot to do the trick. Great value, fantastic build quality too ! Airgun depot delivered fast and packed very good ! Great gun, thanks !

My wife bought this rifle for me for an early Christmas gift and I love it ! Talk about a great deal it feels great and looks great also . I went out and shot it today to sight it in and the optic sights were dead on at 20 yards and I am debating putting the scope on for small game hunting . I am new to air rifles but have 40 years experience with firearms I am impressed with the quality of this rifle made in TURKEY and will recommend this rifle to ALL of my family and friends as you can not go wrong with this rifle for the price nice and smooth shooter .
ProsQuality build and finish , Great gun for the price , Optic sights are nice and protected .

Do not purchase, waste of money.
November 25, 2015
I purchased this rife because of a squirrel problem in my parents orchard. I felt confident about my purchase from all of the good reviews on this site, boy was I wrong. The rifle was overly greased and dieseled often, I assumed it was just getting broken in. After 500 rounds it still had poor performance and never shot a consistent group, regardless of ammo. After reading up this rifle a little more, it was recommended to clean the rifle from the grease and apply a new coat. When I disassembled the rifle I found grease everywhere, even on the piston seal and compression chamber. This is why the grouping or lack there of was so big. To clean the rifle you must first take apart the trigger assembly, which is not like other rifles that come in a pack. I did and misplaced the sear big deal right? just order a new one. Nope! Hatsan does not sell trigger parts, you must send it back to them. This will cost you $45 before replacement of any part. That's half of the price of the gun. And Warranties are voided if you decide to work/clean your rifle. Complete waste of money, don't disappoint yourself. Spend the extra little bit of money and purchase a better rifle.

Good purchase
August 1, 2015
Purchased rifle on recommendation by my brother. Have been more than satisfied with accracy, looks, and over all feel of the rifle. Irons on rifle needed NO adjustment at 30 yards right out of the box. Scope required only minor adjustments. Scope has held settings to this point but should tighten rings on dove tail after several shots. Rifle has quite a bit of recoil or jolt from such a strong spring!

This is a hard shooting rifle and if shooting in confined spaces thick wood or metal back stop should be used. 1/4" plywood splinters.

After trying several different pellet brands and types the Discovery PCP hollow point is the ammo that holds best pattern in my rifle.

This being my first break barrel rifle I am satisfied with it.

Good rifle for my money.
ProsStrong spring Good bright sights. Scope seems adequate (use will tell) Soft gripping areas are a plus Good solid weight to rifle
ConsScope sits a little high on rifle. (For me) Will experiment with other rings Trigger adjustscrew at awkward angle

Excellent piece of kit.
July 7, 2015
I've just bought a 1000s in .25 caliber as a cheap way of trying this pellet size. I love this rifle! Here in the UK air rifles are very restricted in power-to only 12 foot pounds but even so the Hatsan feels hard-hitting. It means effective range is restricted to no more than about 25 yards but at this it is surprisingly accurate. With a Simmons Whitetail 1.5 - 5 by 20 scope on board it has become my short range hunter and plinking rifle of choice. It turns rats inside out. Like any spring gun it needs care and skill to shoot. The trigger is basic but clean and predictable. The stock is nicely shaped with a nice tactile finish and the rubber inserts not only look good but give good grip to. Much better than any other synthetic stock budget air gun I've tried. Cocking effort is easy, but it is somewhat less powerful than you would get in the US. It is worth trying a range of pellets as it does seem a little ammo fussy. H&N are best. Fit and finish are very good for the price. What a surprisingly good rifle. I plan to get one in .22 and .177.
ProsWell made, accurate, .25 calibre, nice stock. Great value for your pounds - or dollars!
ConsHollow stock can resonate, filled mine with expanding foam.

Hatsan air guns disappoint me again
June 17, 2015
Power is incredible. Workmanship of components is great. They produce a significant amount of power. Great platform from a great arms manufacturer.
ProsUndeniable power. Good platform. Nice sights. Heavy duty.
ConsPoor components used in assembly barrel is Steel washer and shimmed on left side of barrel, right side is a thick plastic washer. Spacing was left side .35 inch right was .58 inch on right side. Of barrel breek hinge bolt. Alignment of gas/air port to barrel off according to visual inspection. Haven't had any luck with Hatsan air on help even under warranty they expect me to pay shipping on both my Hatsan rifles for them to check and determine if its their factory fault or mine. Will not bug another Hatsan ever again. Parts are impossible to find and I paid for these items once and now have to spend even more to make them right. I should've gone with the rivers which I've had two and shot them to death and both two more just because straight out of the box the hit and hit hard. Oh the other Hatsan is a 150 torpedo .25 cal the barrel is oversized and pellets do not seat or fall straight through. Buy at your own risk. Thank you

exceeded expectations
April 17, 2015
I found one of these cheap online in 177 cal and got it for my brother. I put a gamo 4x32 fixed power scope on it. After trying a few different pellets i found the h&n barracuda match 10.65gr to shoot best with a group of less than 20mm At 20 yrds and i think that could be improved apon with a better scope. The trigger though a little heavy broke crisply and cleanly and i found it to be very predictable. The rifle shot beautifully off sandbags and even seemed to prefer them to artillery hold. It wasnt particularly hold fussy though and grouped well when shooting freehand.
in my backyard it seemed very neighbor friendly and not overly loud though not as quiet as my marauder it didn't bother the neighbors even though they were working outside at the time.
the one i got had fired thousands of rounds through it and had definitely been worked in so i think for a cheap airgun this is amazing not only did it shoot well, have a nice trigger and not be too loud but it has lasted the test of time.
airguns are expensive here in new zealand and there arent many good brands available here so finding a good one is hard work, so much so that ive had to buy from airgun depot in the past to get a good one, as have my friends. So when i tell you this is a good one after buying so many bad ones you know i mean it. Buy this one with confidence it will work better in years to come than it will out of the box just like a fine wine!
ProsNot too loud, accurate, good trigger, not hold fussy.
ConsLong reach on that trigger i have big hands but still found it quite a stretch.

Excellent rifle and great price. read a lot of reviews and this supposedly has better FPS than most with same rating because they use lead pellets. not the PBA ammo

Buy a 1 piece Accushot scope mount 3/8"(11mm) dove tail. Get high profile because you will see the mounts on barrel thru the scope...which is kinda distracting. It is very good and added to aesthetics of the rifle.

Have not shot it much at time of this review...

clean the barrel very good. It was very dirty with metal shavings in the barrel. had to run cleaner through it about 40-50x

tighten up all screws. found couple that needed some tightening.
Pros- its comes with a scope stop...which was a surprise - great price. - hard hitting. true FPS with lead pellets. - scope seems very nice and clear...although I would never put a 9x on a pellet gun. way overkill
Cons- its little heavy....which is a plus in some respects. - Not too hard to cock. but this is adult rifle so better have some strength - scope mount is worthless.

I have nothing but good to say about this rifle. All the good reviews you read are true. Half inch groups at 20 yards are the norm with crosman pellets. I have three PCPs, a nitro piston, a pump-up and a co2 and this is my second springer. This is one of the best bang for your buck deals that I have ever seen. After over 500 shots it still works perfect in every way except the screw fell out of the scope and when I called Hatsan USA they just sent me a new scope.
ProsValue, price, power and accuracy.
ConsI shoot a lot. I buy over $100 worth of pellets at a time. The only bad thing I can say about this gun is now my left arm looks like Popeyes.

Not quite what I was hoping for.....
August 20, 2014
I've had this air rifle for about a year now I put over 1000 pellets through it and it's just not accurate. It throws pellets all over the place and I've tested its velocity witch is consistent. I think the problem with this thing is that its just too violent. The spring action is so strong in fact that even with a scope stop all my optics slide around and are never accurate on this rifle, but all my optics work on my 7mm-08 rifle so they aren't the problem. would not recommend this air rifle to anyone who wants to hit anything.

Accurate but not totally
May 1, 2014
The gun was advertised with a bi-leg scope. Unfortunately, there was no bipod in the box. I wasn't that put off because reviewers on You Tube said it was a piece of junk. Now to the rifle. The Chinese scope fits the grooves on the top of the barrel (after you remove the strange plate that covers part of the grooves). Then it was out to the yard to sight in the gun. I use a target that's 33 feet from my steady surface. With a rifle rest at about chest height I used a considerable amount of strength to break the barrel (about twice as much as my .22 Gamo). The first shot was high and to the left. After nine more shots I was able to bring the holes close to the bull's eye. Tried a few more shots to see whether I could put a pellet dead on, but the adjustment on the scope only made the pattern worse so I returned to the setting that gave me a "close but no cigar" pattern.
ProsExcellent workmanship. Great penetration (completely through a one inch pine board). Great safety that automatically engages when the barrel is broken.
ConsSound is not much suppressed with the built-in suppressor. Extremely hard to break the barrel to load. Included scope is not very accurate.

I am a professional nuisance wildlife removal agent and this rifle is meeting all of my needs. A tad loud and in my business I have to be careful not to attract the "animal lovers" in the neighborhood. The striker is a step up from the usual box store brands. March 9, 2014
I hadn't owned a pellet rifle in a couple years and I decided to get one again and I'm glad I chose this Hatsan rifle. I use .22 Crosman hollow points with it and I have no trouble taking out doves, pigeons, squirrels, and even the occasional raccoon. The only cons are that the caps on the scope are a bit tricky to put on after adjustments but after a few uses I got used to it. Other than that the bipod serves no use with shooting it's only for displaying the rifle. The scope is actually pretty good once I got it zeroed in. Finally, the try-glow sights on the barrel are awesome! It's great fun to shoot with open sights. I highly recommend this rifle.
ProsHard hitting Easy to cock and load Look great! I like the rubber grips on the sides. Fun to shoot with open sights Tru-Glow sights really stand out nicely

February 12, 2014
This is a good light weight gun, I have the .22 cal. it has plenty of knock down power, and the light weight allows for a heaver scope without compromising your shooting control, I upgraded to a RWS 6x12 CL, AO, Illuminated, and fills the bill, the scope that comes with it is not the greatest, the adjustable trigger is also a plus, very accurate right out of the box, you will not be sorry buying this rifle and the price isn't bad ether, I can do 1 inch size groups at 30 yards without much effort, Try It You'll Like It!!!

Excellent value and performance .177
February 11, 2014
I rate 5 stars for the value of the product. The quality of construction and performance for this price point is excellent. Although it may not be the best scope, if you are purchasing as an entry level rifle, the scope similarly fits this level. The rifle cocks smoothly, however it is a bit more difficult than other entry levels. I've found with the right pellet you can group to 25 yds and for me this has been the RWS Super point extra. I've also had good look with Crosman Premier Hollow, Destroyer, and pointed. I was hoping the Gamo Rockets were gong t o shoot well but very inconsistent. That's fine as I think a low cost entry level rifle should should be able to group lower cost ammo. Although there is a bit more recoil, it is actually not as hold sensitive as I thought it would be. Check your stock and scope screws on a regular basis and especially if you notice a drop in accuracy, due to the amount of recoil. The power for this price point is also surprising and found very good accuracy out to 25yds (have not attempted further) with Crosman Ultramags 10.5gr. This certainly expands the diversity of this rifle to include pest control. The trigger is adequate, with a slightly long pull and force. If this is your first air springer, you will have some good accuracy with practice and will likely cause you to become hooked on airgun shooting.
ProsCost, quality, and performance.
ConsNot really cons, but considerations: on the heavier side in weight and cocking requirements.

Not quite up to snuff....
February 6, 2014
The rifle I received was well packed and arrived undamaged. I cleaned the barrel bore and started shooting Beeman silver Bears to season the barrel and to set up the scope. I did however go over the entire rifle when it first arrived and made sure all the bolts and screws were tightened properly. The scope was difficult to seat and it took 3 tries to get it to grip the 11 MM rail and remain attached after a few rounds. The rifle shot noticeable Low and to the left, but I was eventually able to bring the POI onto the target sheet and begin to zero the scope. The trigger was very rough from the start and I originally did not even see the one adjustment screw. I did finally locate that screw, but that was after the rifle failed to fire several times due to the trigger not working properly. I contacted Customer Service and they managed the return well and swapped me out with no problem at all. I would have liked to of kept this rifle, but it had too many issues as a new gun so I stepped back to a slightly smaller .22 as a replacement.
ProsI really liked the outline and the rubber forestock and stock inlays. The gun had pretty good power even though it failed to meet the advertise FPS it still high the target quite hard and consistently. Had a nice balance and feel when swung down or up onto a target.
ConsNeeds a picatiny rail to mount the scope. Definitely needs better QC on the over all rifle and specifically the trigger and those components. Bundled scope could have used an adjustable parallax to help focus at closer ranges.

Good Starter Air Rifle
September 16, 2013
Fairly accurate if you take your time each shot and a deep breath for the long duration of the trigger pull. The trigger is so horrible, I do not enjoy shooting this rifle.
ProsGood construction for the price. Low cocking effort. Did not notice any appreciable recoil. Could be a good youth starter air rifle to learn markmanship basics.. The .25 caliber is more than adequate for short range pest control.
ConsExcessively long trigger pull breaks at about 8 pounds at the very end. The single trigger adjustment screw would not budge. Barrel droop was so bad, I had to buy a compensating scope mount (shot 4 inches low at 25 feet). Hatsan should keep the enclosed scope, rings and bipod and improve the trigger.

I've had this rifle for over a year, it was replaced during the recall, and the second one performs just like the first one, easily summed up in two words tack driver. The quattro trigger is fantastic, exceptionally smooth and consistent in release, have it set a little above 2.5 lbs and never had a premature fire. I replaced the scope not long after I bought it because the optics weren't as clear as I like, but this has been a great investment, very accurate and very reliable. You can't beat it for the price. Due to its size and weight I wouldn't buy this for a young teen or pre-teen shooter.
ProsAdjustable trigger Excellent grouping with the right pellets Robust construction Non-slip stock when wet or raining
ConsToo heavy and big for a young shooter
By Mason
Great for the price. Didn't even receive bipod?
July 26, 2013
It kicks like a mule. It has an easy cocking effort considering other rifles of its class. You cannot get anything as good as this for the cost. Groups great out to 40 plus yards. In my experience with the air rifle it's favorite pellets are the crosman premier hollow points. But all rifles are made different so maybe that's just my favorite.
ProsCheap, but built to last. Shoots hard Considerably accurate
ConsKicks like a mule Pretty loud compared to nitro piston The sound is more of a klank Did not come with the bipod like stated

My first Spring Powered Air Rifle
May 4, 2013
My other air rifles and pistols are all multi-pumps and I wanted something a bit more powerful without all that pumping. My main concern was the artillery hold because I've never used it before, and I chose this gun because other reviewers said it was not hold sensitive and the price was right. I'm getting much better with this rifle. It is pretty easy to shoot and the kick isn't nearly as bad as I expected. This is now my favorite gun. It's actually not bad right out of the box but is a bit harder to shoot than the other guns I have.
Pros-Very accurate -Safe to shoot indoors -artillery hold is great, but not too hold sensitive -Easy to shoot -Seems well made and sturdy -the price is right
Cons-Harder to pump than I expected out of the box but once you get it oiled up it gets MUCH easier -bipod is useless on this gun, but I can use it for one of my other rifles

Fun and solid, but not as accurate as I had hoped
April 25, 2013
I recently got the Hatsan Striker in .25 caliber and I must say that this thing does some damage. There's something rewarding in the feeling of destroying a soda can at 30 yards with a .25 pellet. The gun feels very solid, and I like the grips, but it's a bit front heavy. I'd prefer the gun being heavier and be more balanced. Granted I got the synthetic stock and perhaps that is why. I like the open sights, although the gap under the scope rings are not really tall enough to still use the open sights. I think I got better accuracy with the open sights than the scope but maybe that was beginners luck. Also, annoying is the front sight shots at the bottom of the scope as a blurry ghost that took me a while to realize what it was :-) but I do like the scope pretty well all in all. The biggest downer for me as I was hoping for a little better accuracy....but I've probably only shot about 200 shots....maybe it's still breaking in...I hope anyway. I do better with my Benjamin Titan as far as long range accuracy, which surprised me as I thought the larger pellets would be more accurate at over 30 yards. It's fairly easy to cock...feels easier than the benjamin...but the twang of a spring isn't as satisfying to me as the thwip of a Nitro piston. But, for $109 for .25 caliber is still a heck of a deal. I'm overall pleased with the purchase.
ProsPrice Comes in .25 caliber Nice grips Nice scope Nice open sights
ConsAccuracy Balance

My striker.22 got here on time with 2 days shipping-Confidentially and well packaged. I have handled a lot of break barrel air rifles in this price range including the crosman optimus and Hatsan beats them all hands down, in build ,quality and sounds-This is like the Mercedes of break barrels. Right out of the box it was dead on at 10 yards and with a little adjustment dead on at 55 feet and I haven%u2019t even cleaned the barrel yet- I don%u2019t even think it dieseled once on me at the range breaking it in-I looked down and had gone through 125 shots before I knew it meaning the cocking effort was like silk and no fatigue set in. It does have a little kick so no death grip on the rifle for better accuracy. It%u2019s fairly quiet for a powerful air rifle-look no more this is the rifle you have been looking for; BUY IT!!!
ProsGreat rifle for the price-you would have to spend a few hundreds more to match the quality.
ConsScope is not all that hot-Open sights dead on-looking to put a red dot for fun.

April 15, 2013
I started with .177 caliber, then upgraded to .22 caliber, now up to .25 caliber. Bigger is better guys and girls. This rifle is economical and you get more than you pay for. Made in Turkey this rifle was a beast to just break the barrel until it started to wear in so be prepared for a work out. Have fun and be safe it is powerful.
ProsPowerful, accurate! Big holes
Cons.25 caliber pellets are heavy and drop faster.

Best so far
March 22, 2013
Our family has been shooting BB/pellet guns since my daughter was 5 (now 17), when I gave her a red ryder. We have had a few types of pistols and rifles (all Walmart} and we have had a blast. I purchased this gun for my sons 13th b-day and we couldn't be more pleased. Right out of the box with the first 15 rounds, we were putting quarter size patterns at 32' in our basement range. After a few days and several hundred rounds, it just seemed to get better. Scope is a little cheesy and the bi-pod is useless but the rifle itself packs a lot of bang for the buck. Since the 3rd of March (now 3/22) the only issues are the scope loosens as well as screws holding the barrel to the stock. That has happened twice after about 1000 rounds. Overall, a wonderful real feel and weight for a transition to the real deal.

Mine Failed as per Consumer Product Safety Warning!!
March 5, 2013
After approx. 750 rounds of sight-in/break-in my 1000 fired IMMEDIATELY upon closing the breech when completing the cocking-charging cycle WITH SAFETY ON!!
This was repeated 10 times out of the next 24 attempts to assure that the failure was not my error and the HATSAN RECALL that was issued by result of the warning issued by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission that I received confirms that a series of these .22 pellet rifles suffered from a VERY dangerous ISSUE.
-To be clear...I'm also a long experienced firearms shooter, 57 year old firefighter/first responder, and was also feeling like this was a good purchase until this weapon launched a live pellet 20 feet or so into the ground ahead of me when I cocked it. I asked Hatsan if I could upgrade and they just sent me a new 1000s. You can have it for only 89.00 and I'll ship it free! I know I won't ever trust the thing, and I don't know why Air Gun depot still sells it! Oh, and the Chinese made scope tubes literally cracked in half and FELL OUT onto the ground after about approx. 600 rounds (oh yeah, this kicks like a hot .223 round) and the "$20.00 Free Bipod" is so chintzy it should include a rebate.
Pros"Like what?" Actually, it's pretty accurate and does fire a lead pellet with authority, that you wouldn't want going through your foot with the safety on.
ConsTwo answers: 1.) All the above. 2.) That the replacement weapon from Hatsan wasn't a brand new Gamo.

You could not spend your airgun dollar any wiser than this gun.
February 11, 2013
Let me say first that overall, I feel that this is a masterful piece of workmanship. Please remember that all of my comments are followed by "FOR THE MONEY." Of course we can go through the catalogs and say this one or that one is a much better quality gun. I'm sure this would hold true for the person looking for a collectors gun. If you are looking for a gun with:

-excellent fit and finish
-has been put together solidly with close tolerances
-shoots accurately
-comes with extras like a scope and open day glo sites (most guns you either get one or the other - never have understood that )
-comes with a bi-pod
-feels good in your hands
-a price anybody can afford

Well, this is your gun.
ProsTremendous value for the dollar spent. Extras not usually offered with lower priced guns. Accurate, well built, and eye catching.
ConsThe only complaint I have with this gun, and the only reason I did not give it five stars, is the noise it puts off when discharged. The spring sounds like a washing machine being pushed off of the top of a ten story building onto a slab of concrete. There has got to be a way to deaden that "klank." I have contacted the factory and am awaiting a return e-mail from them.
wow. .25 caliber air rifle
February 2, 2013
It will fire a 44 grain pellet through a 2 inch piece of wood at 15 feet. Synthetic stock can be cut with hacksaw. This lowly air gun can do just about anything. Great service from purchaser too. Skeptic . . . rim fire guy. Now all about air. 2000 rounds don't weigh that much.
ProsStock easily cut with a hacksaw and sculpted. Easily takes Ein Jin 44 grain pellets, just spin and fit into barrel. Only 100 bucks.
ConsNothing. It is a bargain for those who like varmit hunting and 43 grain ability from 20 feet away.

Great air rifle
February 1, 2013
Lots of research and lots of comments on how you need to spend 300.00 and up in order to find a good rifle. Absolute nonsense. This rifle drives these 22 cal. with precision and authority. Look no further. 99.00 leaves you plenty of extra cash for those thousands of rounds of special pellets. First day out I was getting quarter size groups at 25 yards. Look out rabbits, possums, and raccoons. This gun is also rated at 800 fps using a heavy lead pellet, not those ultra light ones everyone else uses. You're getting a true 800 instead of 600 fps from all the other competitors in the 250.00, and under dollar range. I almost forgot, it also comes with a nice little scope. As you can tell I am happy with my purchase. Hope this help someone.
ProsPrice, construction, and 2 lbs less than most rifles. Power, accuracy, and you get a scope to top it off.
ConsFor this price there is nothing to dislike.

Bought this along with a different break barrel to plink with my son, LOADS of fun. Ready to shoot straight out of the box. With a little tweaking it was sighted in fairly fast and shooting tight groups. Glad I made this purchase.
ProsPOWERFUL Ready to go straight out of the box Quickly/easily sighted in
ConsIt is a little heavy, but not a major issue (just want you to be aware). It is also a little louder than other break barrels I have used. It is very powerful and overall nothing bad to say about this gun, just FYIs.

Hatsan striker 1000 s
January 21, 2013
I recently purchase a Hatsan S 1000 but the rifle is inaccurate. The recoil is average to high. The scope ring is a mess. I have to buy another scope mount because, after 120 shots, my scope and the impact point is not the same point. The scope was walking backward.
ProsReally beautiful item. The price is good and the scope is average.
ConsShort barrel and short air chamber. They need to make a long barrel to give more power. It would also increase the air camber to obtain more FPS. I'm thinking of taking it apart and buying a kit to obtain at least more FPS.

The Cadillac of air guns!
December 18, 2012
This rifle is very high quality for its price. It is heavy and most parts are metal, including the trigger. It fires the .25's with authority and accuracy. I mounted the Optima 3-9 scope which is also metal and it is actually not to bad, no need to replace it immediately. It does kick a bit, but it's not that bad, just need to master the artillery hold. The break barrel action is smooth, cocking is reasonable, and reloading is fast. You won't find a better .25 break barrel w/scope for $100. It's made in Turkey with German steel and has features and workmanship of rifles that cost up to twice its price.
ProsHigh build quality Useable metal scope Not made in China Price
ConsBipod is not usable really.

This air rifle is way under- rated. Don't let the cheap price fool you either. It's just as good, if not better than ones that cost way more. Great power, accuracy, and quality. Trust me, you can't go wrong with this rifle. I shoot the bsa pylarm round nose pellet 18.6 grain in mine, which shoots over 700fps and 19fte, and it's dead on at 40yrds. October 9, 2012
I absolutely love this gun. It is very powerful and very accurate. You're not gonna find a better gun close to that price range. From 25 to 30 feet out, I can hit shot on top of shot. I use Crosman premium hollow point pellets. They are cheap but work great. I use them for target practice or to hunt small game. Don't waste your money on more expensive rifles. This one I would put up against any other brand. I love the scope too. I see no need in upgrading it. This gun is also pretty quite. I could not be more happier with this rifle. I am looking to buy a Hatsan break barrel pistol next.

Ready to go!
September 17, 2012
Being new to air rifles, I wanted to do some practice shooting that was quieter and cheaper to shoot than cartridge firearms. After reading the reviews for this rifle, I settled on it for my purchase. Right out of the box it only needed 1 click of elevation and one right click of windage and it was right on. At 20 yards I was knocking walnuts out of the tree. It seems to have a lot of power and I am impressed and happy with it. It's not hard to cock either. The only pellet i tried was the RWS super H point. The trigger is a little long but not too bad and the safety is positioned where it is handy to disengage. I will soon mount the scope and see how it shoots then but it drills now and the fiber optic sights are real nice.
ProsAccuracy, easy to use right out of the box, powerful, sights and price.

Great value
September 16, 2012
I was truly disappointed when I first tried to set this gun up. The scope rings were defective, I felt the gun was very toy like. Even though it's an inexpensive gun, I was still expecting better quality from a name like Hatsan. I've now bought another scope and rings, sighted it in and put a few hundred rounds through it and love it. Long story short, give this hundred dollar rifle a chance, it won't let you down! I am giving this gun five stars, even taking the dislikes into consideration, because honestly it's a hundred dollars!!!
ProsShort break in period, good accuracy and decent trigger.
ConsShiny plastic is toy looking, a dull black finish would add a more quality look. Dovetail mounts in general aren't great, should add weaver rail. Not a dislike, but the scope is nothing more than a paperweight.

Effective power!
July 19, 2012
This is my first break-barrel, so I don't have much expertise. Compared to the Daisy 880 and Crosman 760 multi-pumps that I own, the Hatsan is much closer to a .22 rimfire rifle in terms of size and weight. It's a little tougher to shoot off-hand than the BB guns, but I'm getting better each time I take it out! I haven't tried the scope, so I can't give any feedback on that. The open sights work well and acquiring the target is quite easy--at least in normal light. The front sight starts to disappear in dim light. The power and penetration are remarkable, and the cocking effort and recoil are acceptable. Overall, the Striker is a fun plinker and a worthy pest-control tool at an affordable price.
Prospower price solid action durable synthetic stock
Consnothing really except cocking effort might be a little heavy for a smaller or younger shooter

Just got this rifle in and I could not be happier. There is nothing to assemble out of the box, just slap on the scope (if you wish), sight it in, and you are good to go. My friend has a Gamo and a Crossman that he paid almost twice as much for, and I would put the Hatsan up next to either of them any day of the week! Just a couple of things to remember/advice/point out:

1. Whether using iron sights or scope, all rifles must be sighted in for the individual shooter.
2. Use good ammunition. If you put junk pellets through it, don't expect tight groups and consistent shooting.
3. I saw a review where someone said this gun is hard to cock. Not true. Hatsman 1000s cocks just the same as any other comparable pellet rifle.
4. Someone complained about recoil, they are crazy; this is a .22 cal pellet rifle, not a 30-06.
5. Also, saw someone complain that it is loud, once again they are crazy, same noise level as any other comparable pellet gun.
6. Scope is pretty decent, but the bipod isn't so great. However, the rifle and scope alone are well worth the price (in my opinion worth more), so you won't catch me complaining about the bipod. Scope mount also has a little metal piece that keeps he scope from creeping back over time, just one of the little things that make this rifle awesome.
7. There is a thumb safety on this gun instead of a lever next to the trigger like most rifles. Took a little getting used to at first, but now I like it. Also, the safety re-engages every time the gun is cocked, but after I got used to it I really liked it. Works out nice if you are shooting with someone who is inexperienced.

In conclusion, great rifle, great price, use good ammunition and take your time sighting it in and it will shoot very well.

This gun delivers, its very powerful and well built. I dont have a chrony but it seems to be shooting correctly. I haven't hunted with it yet but i'm 100% sure that it will take out small game. The stock sounds slightly hollow. The open sights are nice and the scope is ok for now..overall its just a really good gun for the careful and hunt hard!

Ok I dont want to waist your time here since some of these reviews seem endless (they were all good and defenantly worth reading) so I am going to get right to it. This gun is powerful and delivers the right amount of knock down power to kill any rodent / bird. Although a little off accuracy straight out of the box it is very easy to adjust the sights. I just adjusted my scope a little bit and it isn't 1/2 of a millimeter off, and when i was target practicing with it, it shot right by the ply wood support throwing splinters in every direction. This gun is very reliable and although a little heavy it is still very comfortable. This gun is a GREAT buyers choice.
ProsPowerful accurate reliable strong
Consa bit heavy just a little bit loud a decent bit of recoil

Love'n it!
April 25, 2012
New to AGs, first rifle only had a scope. Wanted something inexpensive to learn to use open sights and found this! There were a few very minor blemishes on the synth. stock, but nothing that a few weeks use wouldn't have caused anyway. Only real issue I found was that when cocking, towards the end of the pull it can sometimes feel like it's fully engaged until you try and fire the rifle. First time it happened I thought it jammed up on me. After the 3rd time it happened I was getting worried until I realized I wasn't pulling that final 1%. After that, I simply had to remember to pay more attention to my cocking. (More my fault then the rifle's, it's just a tad misleading)

Was nice that it came with the scope and bipod, but I don't plan on using either. I prefer to shoot standing, and wanted this rifle specifically for the open sights, so no need for the scope. However, the scope is nice and I may end up swapping it to my other rifle.
Pros-accurate -good solid feel to it -awesome adjustable fiber-optic sights -very fun to learn on and for plinking -Scope looks nice, but never used it (wanted for the sights)
Cons-The final 5% of the cocking motion seems to tense up and if not paying 100% attention, it's easy to think you've fully cocked it.
