The only issue I had with this rifle is the scope was highly flawed, and impossible to use. Using the rifles built in sights its quite accurate and a wonderful small game gun

Great gun for the price. Had my son sight in the scope, squirrel population is way down!!

This was my first pellet gun. Great gun for the price. I've seen this gun in several sporting goods shops where it's sold for $20 to $30 more than AirGunDepot. The construction is very solid and shoots like a charm right out of the box with very little ajdustments to the sighting. The only thing that concerned me was the break barrel -- it can stick when cocking it, at least that's what I'm encountering. Also, the safety is not in the most logical place. For me, I like the safety near the trigger guard. Other than that, it's a great gun to plink around with.

My only complaint is the trigger. It has a lot of creep and is very spongy. All-in-all, though, a good value for the money.

This is a useless rifle that can not be sighted in at even 20 yards. Trigger pull has to be around 4-5 lbs .the power is there and the looks but useless as a tool. I have a 30 dollar 10 pump daisy BB from Walmart that is better for the purposes of shooting and accuracy.

Pros
Looks good and powerful

Cons
Trigger pull is around 4 lbs, will not sight in on a beanbag at even 20 yards

Is good for small game, hollow point pellets seem too be most accurate 2nd choice would be piranha pellets

Pros
Very accurate, nice scope, well built

Cons
Single shot, front optic sight fell out (break barrel should have rugged type install to hold up)

It does look like this gun prefers some pellets over others accuracy wise. I'm still experimenting at 20-30 yards. I will be doing some long distance target shooting with this gun too. Crosman Premiers seem fine but H&N Baracuda Power 10.65g are awesome. I'm looking forward to seeing how satisfied I am with the gun over the long term. Clean barrel when you first get the gun for sure.

Pros
Overall quality and substantial feel. Accuracy is great with better scope. Good trigger. Cocking is easy but feels well made and is not too easy. Huge value for the money.!

Cons
Safety is ok, feels a little cheap. Butt of stock could be a little bigger.

I love this air rifle. I know PCP is the new cool thing, and I own mine as well, but if you are looking for an old school looking, accurate rifle that reminds you of all the things you love about Rueger then this is your gun. As others have stated the scope is not awesome but I switched mine out. It breaks in nicely after 100 shots or so, it quiets down and becomes easier to cock. It is very accurate and powerful. If you use airguns in your backyard as I do then you definitely want a heavier pellet. The first 15 I shot through the gun were 7 grains or less and all sounded like I was shooting a .22 firearm and the shots were all over the place. Once I stepped it up it quieted right down and shot small groups consistently. Just a great old school rifle for us nostalgic types who grew up with wooden stocks

Pros
Accurate, powerful, classic looking

Cons
It's a bit on the heavy side and the scope is "OK"

Looks like a very good air rifle but how noisy is it , will it disturb neighbors if use often ?.

Dear Sirs, I have a Ruger Air Hawk Elite with 3-9x40 scope, I have been using for a few years and the scope mounts gave out. What is the recommended replace for these mounts? Thanks Bob M

Will this go through a fence

asked eli

Just got this gun what is the best ammo to put through it for hunting?

asked Anthony

I have found that heavier the better. I have tried lighter pellets and could not shoot a tight group. I went to the basic crossman ultra mag 10.something grain pellets they have tightened the groups up to where its accurate and fun to shoot. The factory scope is best used as a paper weight. I took mine off and bought a dove tail to weaver adapter and pit a BSA red dot scope on it.

David Reynolds

How can the small spring for the trigger be ordered and replaced?

asked Ben

Try Ruger or Umerex for the parts you might need

Neil from USA

what weight pellets do you shoot? I'm shooting Daisy premium grade .177cal. seems I'm all over with them can't hit close to the same spot. any help You can give will be great thanks

asked Dan

h&n baracuda green 12.96 gr. good for hunting also

william from USA

I don't know the exact weight, but I use Crosman wadcutters. I was able to greatly increase the accuracy of my Air Hawk by tightening the screw at the hinge of the break barrel (the barrel should not fall due to gravity when open - THIS NEEDS A GUNSMITHING SCREWDRIVER TO AVOID DAMAGING THE SCREW), and all 3 stock screws (one of each side by the barrel hinge, one behind the trigger guard), also I replaced the scope rings. Try looking up "Artillery hold" if you aren't already doing that. Makes a big difference. Mine easily shoots .25" - .5" groups at 20-30 yards on days where I'm up to it.

Landon from USA

what fps is this

asked j0hn from USA

John,. This particular gun has a velocity of 1000 fps. That could be up or down in fps depending on the pellets in use. Hopefully that answers your question. Sincerely, Airgun Depot Customer Care Team

Scott from USA

Is this gun safe? Does it shoot when the barrel is open?

asked Sam

Ruger has an automatic safety when you cock it, so its very safe. But as a rule of thumb, you should always safety the rifle manually before breaking the barrel. keep your finger away from the trigger whilst you do so until your loaded, aiming at your intended target, and safety is off.

Jake from USA

How loud is this rifle?

asked jeremy

About 90 dba.

Tom

The first shot after cleaning or new appears to go supersonic causing aloud 22 like crack. This is probably caused by oil in the barrel causing hydraulic dieseling. After oil is gone the rifle quiets down and makes a spring/air release noise which would be expected, acceptable even in residential areas. This is a powerful pellet rifle so you sacrifice a little noise for a lot of power. I hope this helps.

Ed from USA

Any idea where the Ruger airguns are made?

asked Jackson

Ruger is made by Umarex and they are located in Arkansas.

Scott from USA

Does the wood stock look the same as it does in the picture?

asked Andrew

Is this gun made in the USA, if not where?

asked Jackson

Not America...China. But it is a well made air rifle. It is a RWS 34 clone. I have one they can be very accurate.

Steve from USA

What pellets have the most stopping power for hunting rabbits and squirrels?

asked Jack

Crosman premier hollow points, gamo red flames, jsbs, rws's, or even pred polymags

George from USA

Go with RWS or JSB hunting pellets. More weight equals more stopping power. This rifle will send a tipped alloy pellet screaming through your target, and unless your a marksman and can hit the brain or heart every time, your going to cause your target long, immense pain versus a painless death. Make sure your using at least 10 grains.

Jake from USA

The pellets you need for rabbits, squirrels is Gamo Blue flames.

Nicole from USA

the video says "remanufactured" and the specs say it is "new." Which is it. Also says it has fiber optic sights, but in the picture it seems like it has no front sight. Also can you use the fiber optic sights while the scope is attached? The scope seems like it sets high so you can use either. Thanks.

asked RC

It is new not refurbished

Scott from USA

I was just wondering if this is a good gun for a first pellet gun? Is it good for hunting or just for shooting? What's the best pellets to use and is it a good buy for the price?

asked mark

Great first gun. You can do both hunt and for shooting around. The best pellets would be RWS dome shaped pellets. Hoped that answered question.

Sam

Is this really loud? Would my neighbors hear me?

asked bill

Yes, your neighbors would hear you, if they were close anyway. If you're anyplace that they're close, you shouldn't be shooting out-of-doors anyway. Set up a range in your home. The basement is where I have mine.

Thomas from Mexico

It depends which brand of pellets you shoot any over 20% faster will break the sound barrier and would be very loud i shot Gamo Blue flame pellets but that would be to loud for you I would shoot Crosman Deystor ex pellets.

Nicole from USA

Hi Ejaz Ahmad , From Pakistan. i want to buy this air gun, and want to know that this is use for hunting ? How much mony i will have to spend to get it in Pakistan. Is it possible to tell me with out telescope how much i will have to pay

asked Ejaz Ahmad

This gun is good for shooting small rodents like bunnies and squirrels, nothing too big. The scope comes with this gun, you cannot just buy the gun without the scope. Try checking out at the sight and if there is a restriction you will get a warning before you purchase the product. There are a lot of different regulations for all different countries and they are always changing, so we have set up an automatic warring if there is a product, based on your location, that is forbidden. Shipping cost depends on your location and what method you select. Before finalizing your payment you should be able to see the amount.

Scott from USA

what will it cost to ship a airgun like this to belgium .

asked renze van den nouwelant

Scott from USA

Do air guns have a warm up time? I think mine does. Mabe I have a warm up time?

asked Bill

I'm unsure what you're referring to. If you mean to ask if the gun must be fired a few times before you start shooting for accuracy, then no. Unless it's your first 500 shots or so. If you mean the internals, then no. Gas pistons and springs are unaffected by climate, unlike Co2 guns which require warm climate to function properly.

Jake from USA

I don't think so, artillery hold is typically the best for shooting airguns.

Conor from USA

how do you operate a break barrel air gun? like putting th pellets and cocking the gun/ar

asked armando

Hello Armando, The easiest way to operate a break barrel is to first sit down and place the gun across your lap. Hit the barrel near the front sight with the palm of your hand and it should open up. You can then proceed to load pellets into your air rifle. Please let us know if you have any further questions. Sincerely, The Airgun Depot Customer Care Team

Steve from USA

Is the 3X9-40 scope that comes with it an AO? It is in the pic so I figured I'd ask someone that might know.

asked Brian from USA

Yes, it is AO.

Conor from USA

Does the scope that comes with this have a mil dot reticle?

asked Stephen

Where are these made?

asked steven

They are actually made in China.

Liam

These are made in Germany.

Scott from USA

I'm looking to get a different scope for this gun but what is the mount style?

asked Cody

It takes a 11mm dovetail rings. The scope should be rated for air guns because the reverse recoil will destroy expensive firearms scopes.

john

The mount is an 11mm dovetail.

Conor

can scope come off so you can use it without it

asked ian walker

yes

Scott from USA

how heavy is the cocking effort.

asked Tristan Prathap

Received one of these from AGD about a week ago. Cocking effort is about 36lbs, measured with a pull scale. Not bad for a powerful springer. Very nice rifle, btw.

gabriel from USA

would you suggest this to a teenager? we live in pa where air rifle rules are pretty strict.

asked Nate

I don't think a teenager would benefit from a powerful airgun like this. Airgunning is something you need to work at and build up into to get accuracy out of. I would suggest a lower powered airgun first like a ruger explorer or a gamo recon. Get used to the recoil in these first. Shoot a few thousand rounds..accurately first, then start thinking power. I shot arouns 150,000 rounds from a crosman 760 over at least 9 years before I wnt to breakbarrels. Now, 33 years later I have come full circle back to recoilless pcp guns. It took that long to be able to take a 1 inch target at 100 yards and a ballistic computer, as well as a hand tuned $4000 airgun system. My shooting pedigree is impressive and given with hopes you will listen and get the most of the sport. Follow my path oh padawan learner and you too shall be able to use the farce!

john

Hi, We live in a strict neighborhood as well. I purchased my Ruger primarily for using it with my 14 year old and 11 year old. They both can handle the rifle, but we go to a range to shoot it together. So, to answer your question: no I wouldn't purchase the rifle for them alone to use whenever they wanted - recipe for disaster. Buy it for yourself to share with your kids under your supervision at a range. It's a nice rifle.

Thomas from USA

How is the quality of this refurbished air rifle?

asked zach

Typically, they are like brand new.

Conor

I can't say for this particular air rifle, but I have purchased 2 springer rifles from AGD in the last 90 days and both were in "show room" condition. One was a Ruger Magnum and the other was a Hammerli X2. These refurbs are a wonderful bargain and I will purchase more.....no complaints whatsoever.

gabriel from USA

Does the scope stay where it's supposed to on this air rifle or should I think about putting a picatinney rail on it? Any input would be appreciated.

asked gabriel from USA

I have the Ruger black hawk which is the same gun with different stock and no muzzle break. Bought at AGD. The gun is a copy of the RWS 34 it does not need a picatiny rail or for that matter weaver mounts. It shoots very well with dove tails and you can expect 900 plus fps in cal .177, I use 7.56 grain Gamo pellets very accurate out to 40 yards, gives about 14 fpe enough to put down pigeons and other small game. The trigger is not the hottest item, but it can be adjusted, and with time and practice become user friendly. The Air Hawk looks real cool and I would expect it to be a solid gun with the wood work it brings. The Black Hawk on the other hand is kind of noisy with it plastic stock had to fill mine with foam to make it more solid. All said they are both good inexpensive guns that will last a long time, and parts are very easy to get. The refurbished deal is a good deal, expect no problems. Scope it comes with works just fine, this gun is not like the Ruger Mag, a scope breaker.

PRIMO from USA

Get it snug and stick some loc-tite on it.
