Reported in earlier review that I must have received a lemon--first couldn't hold CO2 charge properly and pellets travelled about 10 feet from the end of the barrel. Replacement works more as advertised.
Pros
Very attractive gun. Owners may enjoy displaying it as much as shooting it. Accurate and powerful--No problem with tight groupings after 20 rounds from 20-30 yds. Takes out squirrels without even breathing heavily.
Cons
Some varieties of ammo difficult to cock into the breach.
Assume this not common for the 2240 XL given glowing reviews from other owners. But there was at least one defective product out there--it produced no C02 power after several attempts at loading, puncturing the cartridge, and firing. We'll see how the next one does.
Pros
Looks Good.
Cons
Don't know yet: First one didn't work. Waiting for replacement.
Pros
This version comes with mostly metal upgrades you would buy for the 2240 base version after the fact such as metal breech, trigger, and barrel stay, with a threaded barrel for a moderator. Fairly accurate and a lot of fun to shoot.
Cons
Mine arrived with cosmetic defects: The grip had a small crack (I had planned on replacing. it anyway). The CO2 camber was scuffed down to the bare metal - Crosman's solution? Use a black indelible marker and try to hide it.
- minimal packing to support the pistol during shipment -
Quality control is questionable at best.
Pros
Great accuracy, high quality of shot counts per co2 cartridge, w/the addition of a red dot puts the 2240XL over the top!!! I can shot it for hours!
Cons
None!
Save your money the crapsman 2240xl is a big disappointment!!!
Pros
Good but not great.
Cons
This weapon is a gas hog. The one I received has poor seals from the factory(AGD). If you blow into the muzzle you can hear air escaping from the bolt seal and the transfer port. I have replaced the seals and still leaks. Quality control should be shot with this weapon but it probably wouldn't hurt because of the leaky seals. On second thought quality control should be beat with this weapon. Wish I would have used the money to completely mod my 1322. What a waste of time and money.
Red Dot is the way to go.
Pros
Accurate
Cons
Sights = Lame
