The Umarex Glock 17 Gen5 is an upgrade from earlier models in the series because it now features a rifled barrel that shoots pellets, whereas the older models shoot BBs. It gives you speeds up to 350 fps and it's a great way to train for the powder burning version because it looks and feels almost identical.

The air pistol has a full size metal magazine that is belt fed and gives you a capacity of 20 rounds so you get more time to shoot with fewer interruptions for reloading, and it uses a 12 gram CO2 cartridge for power. The details of the gun are so similar to the original that it takes a close look to tell them apart, so it makes it easy to keep in practice.

This airgun version uses a polymer frame with a full metal slide just like the authentic handgun, and it also uses blowback to give you the feeling of recoil. It has the same improved ergonomic grip with texturing surrounding it that the firearm does, plus the famous Glock logo near the bottom.

You'll get accurate shots from the G17 Gen5 because it has a fixed rear notch sight and fixed front post sight, plus the rifled barrel, and it also has a Weaver rail under the barrel so you can add accessories like lasers and lights for extra functionality.

If you're looking for a close replica CO2 version of the popular handgun so you can stay familiar with it or have fun plinking, get the Umarex Glock 17 Gen5 at Airgun Depot now.

Pellet rotary belt stopped working on day 1, ending the fun instantly, pistol still discharged CO2 but not pellets.

Pros
Very realistic to glock 17 firearm.

Cons
Stopped working after 1st magazine

Previous reviews reported very heavy trigger weight, due to the trigger itself advancing the pellet belt. At first I thought the piece must be defective , but after a hundred rounds the action has loosened up - still very heavy, but manageable. The mag holds 21 rounds in a heavy, solid configuration but loading is comically cumbersome. That's to be expected in these new designs which are essentially beta products; later models should improve with modifications. The Glock mechanism is more reliable than a similar design in the Sig Sauer 320 - as other users have reported that belt tends to bind up and jam and is a fatal design flaw. Mine is now so jammed that I can't extract the magazine even with brute force and there's no other way to get in there, so now it's only post-warranty purpose is to fill a slot in the gun rack. The Umarex Glock is hands down the better choice. The trigger does not promote much accuracy but that's a tradeoff most users will be okay with.

Pros
Identical in weight and heft to the original

Cons
Ammo feed mechanism - see below

Slide does not blow back with each shot and does not lock back when your magazine is empty. Make sure pellets are seated in well when loading magazine. One CO2 lasts about 3 reloads.

Pros
Very nice replica of the real glock 17. Nice weight and feel. Shoots nice groups when you get the hang of shooting it. Very quiet. Fun to shoot!!!

Cons
Trigger pull is very heavy. Magazine is difficult to load pellets. Shoots a little low.

Very accurate – however takes some practice to achieve.

Pros
Great training for my Glock 10M, feels like the real thing.

Cons
Magazine needs to be better engineered, for less trigger strength and loading 2 pellets at a time are too time consuming.

Would not fire, when I called was told that it has a very heavy trigger initially then will ease up after a few shots. I had to use both hands to pull the trigger and get the first shots then it just would not fire at all. The rotary loader in the magazine turns very hard, difficult to load. The safety is embedded flush in the bottom of the barrell and requires a small screwdriver to operate. I returned this gun for a full refund. Airgun Depot was very cooperative on this.

Pros
Good looking, good balance, a good idea but needs a lot more development.

I returned this and purchased a P320, and as much as the Glock 17 GEN five had a trigger pole force of 11 pounds or more. That is due to the fact that the action of pulling the trigger rotates a belt in the magazine, as well as fires the pellet. That was totally unacceptable because you cant achieve or at least I couldnt achieve real accuracy with such a hard trigger pull. In addition, I wanted to add a reflex site which I could not do because the rear sight is not removable. I returned it and bought a P320 ASP, which I’m very happy with, and does not have the two issues that I mentioned about the Glock.

Pros
I returned it. Trigger pro at 11 pounds plus it’s excessive and the rear sight is not removable.

Cons
Seems very well-made.

Can you add a laser to this and if so which one

asked John from USA

My question is does anybody know how to buy an Umarex Glock 17 Gen 4 dual ammo? The magazine is very similar to the Umarex SA10 dual ammo which is a great pistol. It never jams so I'd like to buy the Glock 17 Gen 4 dual ammo. Thanks for any help or information.

asked Howard from USA

can you use bbs for this gun?

asked Jaspal from Canada

yes kind of from the front of the muzzle, mag needs to be empty, gun held a little upright so bb does not fall out, not the best and it works ok

Luis from Mexico

This isn't a question but a correction... You "Can" field strip the glock 17 Gen 5 just like the 19x Gen 5. I have one.

asked Deametrius from USA

Yes it uses both bbs and pellets but you can only fit 8 bbs

Catlos from USA

Can this be repeatedly and continually fired without bb's loaded? For inside home dry fire practice.

asked Phil from USA

Yes.

Timothy R from USA

The slide does not seem to lock back after last shot is fired, so sure why not.

Alex from USA
