The shape- weight and function of the Smith & Wesson M&P 40 by Umarex has all the similarity of the live-fire handgun. This BB replica is not only a great BB gun for some fun plinking, but also makes a great target shooting and training pistol for S&W M&P firearm owners.

I will definitely recommend this product to a friend.
The gun overall is pretty simple, as BB Pistols ARE.
My friend has a Pellet one, but his isn't nearly as good as this one, but he paid the same price for it.
So far, I'm quite satisfied.
I've heard things about the gun messing up without the special Oil (Find it in the Accessories, made by Crosman), but I didn't pay attention when I was ordering and did not purchase it, yet, I've used over 3 CO2's and the gun's fine.
Not the best review, but I would say out of most the guns for this price, this is probably better in Velocity (Power/Speed), Accessibility & looks!
Looks nice but otherwise disappointed
Problem is the trigger! It's so stiff when u fire it throws off your accuracy terribly. Difficult keeping gun aimed at subject. Pulls off mark. Also, pretty loud for a BB gun.
I thought something was strange when I could literally watch the trajectory of every bb from the muzzle to the target as if it had been thrown by a mini mite baseball pitcher and I thought it was very inhumane to hit a gopher in the head three times and have it still walk away.
I had a couple of drinks one night and wondered if it could be modified to shoot faster so I opened it up and found that the spring around the barrel can be stretched about an inch to give more power.
I did so and was amazed at how fast it shot after the mod, I thought holy crap, this thing must be shooting 1200 - 1300' per second now as it really seemed like the bbs were traveling at least three times faster than the "stock" 480 fps that is advertised and I could no longer see 9 out of 10 bbs as they traveled so fast to the target.
Well, I thought something smelled in Denmark so I picked up a chronograph tonight and low and behold, the speed is now averaging around 450 fps.
So, long story short; it could be a dog out of the package. It can be modified to shoot faster but it still won't be over legal non-PAL limit.
I was so excited that the mod worked so well that I bought another one last night. I will test the fps straight out of the box and report back here, then modify it and report the difference.
If anyone knows the SPAM rating, it now goes all the way through the meat of one can and makes a pretty good dent in the back side of the can. It's pretty warm here so I would guess the spam was about 25 degrees celsius.
It's crazy accurate in the aforementioned 'slow' mode because you can literally watch the bbs travel and adjust your aim accordingly so if you didn't get it on the first or second shot the third shot should take the eye out of a gopher at 25 feet, assuming it hasn't moved.
I've only gone through 2 CO2's but it gets great life, about 9 or 10 19 shot magazines per CO2.
Accuracy @ 30 feet = 4 in 2" circle, 8 in 5" circle & 7 in 8" circle.
As far as the trigger, the way I shoot I aim at the target, I squeeze the trigger until just before the release and zero in/fine tune my target.
The sights work great I just followed the instructions for best accuracy.
It's easy to install the CO2 and load ammo. I ordered the M&P 40 extra magazines from airgundepot as the Crosman one's don't work.
It's not too heavy and not too light really a perfect weight.
I actually bought this to ward off varmints like skunks, squirrels & armadillos but found it was fun to target shoot also.
Big mags full metal 19 rounds
Light Weite 2pounds
I was a little puzzled about the accuracy, so I contacted Umarex to make sure that this was *NOT* normal. The gun tech I spoke with informed me that a 9 inch spread at 10 feet is about where the accuracy of this gun tops off. Disappointed, I said my thanks and hung up. I'm not sure that I'll buy another cheap air gun (or Umarex gun) again for target shooting. I would recommend you save your money and invest it in something that will enjoy shooting.
PLEASE if you must buy this gun, be very careful with the magazine, as it has shot BBs out of the top several times while loading.
*ALSO. DO NOT BUY THE CROSSMAN BRAND C11 MAGAZINES FROM WALMART, THEY DO NOT FIT THIS GUN!*
just a blast to shoot overall
