great air rifle
August 10, 2017
I really like this rifle. Wasn't expecting it to be so powerful. Now I've read bad reviews concerning the scope but the scope that came with my air rifle is awesome once zeroed in.
ProsPowerful, good weight on it. Nice scope

Great value, Awesome gun

Out of the box accuracy. Mounted the scope and zero'ed with 4 shots... very quiet and lighter than expected. Best overall pellet rifle value ever!

refurbished ruger blackhawk
May 2, 2016
I wanted something with more hitting power than my remington express .22, then I saw the Blackhawk. I was pleasantly surprised, right out of the box, I put the scope on it and went right to sighting it in.using rws superpoint extra ammo I proceeded to fire 10 rounds at 22 ft. with a sighting target from, I placed my shots from left to right, aiming actually on center.however , from the #4 left to #6 right, and from the #2 vertical to the #2 below. yet eight of those ten could be covered by a quarter. then I shrunk the target, and made some adjustments to the scope, I fired another 10 rds, all were inside a target the size of a kennedy half dollar. 3 went just inside the circle, top, left and right. the next seven went almost dead center. you could cover them with a dime.feeling satisfied I went to my shooting area and proceeded to work it out to 70 ft. ran out of time when I got to 70 ft,but have high hopes to go further out. but first have to it sight it in. the first 10 rounds didn't do well, but I haven't got it fined tuned yet. this gun only has about 100 rounds through it but it should get better.i have to be honest and say that I have very little patience so it might take awhile to get it fine tuned.
Prosgood shooter, liked it out of the box. has plenty of hitting power. cant beat the price.
ConsI would like to see a better scope on it.

Why bother?
September 1, 2015
I have owned 4 of these. The first one was very accurate but the piston seal tore in under 500 shots. The second one had a loose barrel pivot bolt and I stripped the threads out when I tried to tighten it (inferior quality metal). It never was accurate. Number 3 was not accurate and broke after about 1000 shots. Number 4 is accurate but I have only fired it about 50 shots . I bought a RWS 34P refurbished from Airgun Depot for around $130 it's 10x the gun the Blackhawk is, so why bother? it's a waste of time and money as well as being very fustrating.
ProsLooks like a RWS 34P.
ConsIt is not a RWS 34P.

gave it as a gift!
February 27, 2015
I had rifle sent directly to my 78 yr old uncle. It thrilled him, he said that he always wanted one, but could never free up the money...nothing I've ever gave him made him as happy as this rifle did!!!
Prosgreat quality!
ConsI have none...

I bought two of these. They were refurbs without scopes. I mounted scopes on mine, and they are surprisingly accurate. The fit and finish are superb. Accuracy is about 1 inch at 25 yards with ordinary pellets. I have shot ten different kinds of pellets through these guns, and they all shoot pretty well. Triggers are not bad. Better than expected. This is a well executed copy of RWS 34. Even at full price this is a great value. I enjoy shooting at old soda cans filled with water. These guns tear them up!
ProsElegant, nicely designed rifle. Accurate and powerful. Trigger is good and adjustable. Affordable. Fun, fun to shoot. The open sights work great, and were zeroed right out of the box.
ConsThe barrels droop. I had to shim one of my scopes to compensate and I got a droop compensating mount for the other. I believe this a common trait of break barrel spring guns, so I'm giving five stars anyway. Not a deal breaker.

Great Gun
April 16, 2014
I've had this gun for almost a year and it's power and accuracy hasn't disappointed me yet! This gun kills groundhogs from 50 yards on the first shot! Uses any kind of ammo and it's easy to use for a typical teenage boy to a grown man! Only complaint is that the scope that comes with it is garbage buy a new one with this gun!
ProsPowerful and easy to use
ConsBad scope

Very accurate. Super Ruger quality and great price. Toss the free scope and put a Simmons 4x32 Mag 22 on it for 20 cent size groups at 25 yds.
ProsAccurate, nice trigger

A Nice to own airgun
December 15, 2013
I have owned the Ruger Blackhawk for 4 years, I shoot the rifle at least twice a month putting approximate 300 rounds through it. I am very pleased with it. Just do regular PM on it i.e. routing lubrication and tightening screws. Anyone can pay more for an airgun but will not get more. Willing to get another one in a .22 platform
ProsWell balance, Safety feature at the rear of the stock, excellent price point. Excellent trigger pull. Excellent for target and General hunting purposes; I would highly recommend the Ruger Blackhawk
ConsNeeds an improved front sight post. 4x32 fixed scope is horrible. Replace the scope and ring, I recomend a 3x9x40 optics

Great value for medium budget
November 20, 2013
I plan on geting this for my little brother this Christmas. My friend has one and I have the big brother to this one , the air mag .177. We both love our guns and have had to do plenty of upgrades. For example, we both pianted our stocks useing pine needles,Put RWS 4-12x50 illuminated milldot reticle scopes, and took open the open sights sights off because they could be seen in our scopes. Plus they look cool with the muzzle muzzle breaks we put on them. And after putting nearly $600 into them we finaly got them driving tacks at 100yds. We plan on doing the same stuff to his. So to some it up you dont need all those upgrades if you plan on shooting under 50yds. And I definitely love the power accuracy price ratio. All ruger airguns are great but need stuff done to them in order to get good groups outside 50yds.
ProsGood price power accuracy value
ConsNeed some money to get accurate groups outside 50yds

Best gun for the money.
January 15, 2013
This rifle is very powerful and it hits it's mark very hard. It is a great gun if you're on a budget. Just use Gamo PBA pellets, and you've got a masterpiece. I recommend this gun.
ProsThe gun feels good in your hands and can take a turkey down! The price can't be beat. Handles any .177 pellet very well while other guns require certain ammo.
ConsYou have to tighten the screws up every 150-200 shots or the thing will recoil itself apart.

June 8, 2012
Great airgun, very accurate, can't beat it for the price. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the trigger guard and safety are plastic, but still the gun as a whole is well made and very sturdy, my son has already put 500 rounds through it shooting up soda cans. Very pleased with this air rifle.
ProsCan't beat the price.
ConsThe first time we shot this air rifle it was loud, but that was just the first shot, after that it has been pretty quiet.

The gun I never gotI
January 21, 2012
Here is my experience so far:
AD shipped the wrong item. I called them and explained to Tony that it was a birthday present and I would like the correct item shipped ASAP and since it was now out of stock( it was in stock when I ordered it) what could they do to help me. He checked stock and verified they where out and showing no re-stock date. He said they may not even get any again. Tony could only advise me to follow the standard returns procedure.
I asked him to transfer me to customer service and he said that was not possible as they did not have direct lines but could leave a message for someone to call me back????? I asked Tony to have someone call me back ASAP and that never happened.
I later e-mailed and made the same request and still nothing.
I wanted my Nephew to have this gun for his birthday so I ordered a non-refurb that was in stock at $40 more than the refurb I origionally ordered.
I noticed this morning that the refurb is back in stock.
This has all taken place in six days and meanwhile the wrong item is on it's way back to AD via their RMA procedure.
Airgun Depot dropped the ball on this one. I should have gotten a call and this should have been resolved that day.
I'm wondering how this will turn out and if this review will get posted.
I will be happy to do an update when this is resolved.

ProsDon't know yet.
ConsIt didn't get shipped.

Ruger Blackhawk Air Rifle
January 17, 2012
This is my first air rifle and I really like the look and feel. It's very powerful, and accurate once you have it sighted in. Overall, this a very nice air rifle! I would recommend this rifle for someone looking to own their first or looking for a great buy. Thumbs up for the Ruger Blackhawk.

Hard hittin gun on the cheap
January 16, 2012
Been shooting this for about a week now and it's a kick in the pants. Been reading how to complete a tune job on it and can't wait to complete it. Loading the gun is a little effort to break the barrel, not sure what's going on, but once it's bent, it rather easy to get it cocked. The pellet chamber(?) is slanted and you have to remember to put the pellet in straight with the barrel. It's hold sensitive but I'm hoping that once this gun is broken in, that will change. Can't really tell how accurate it is, only shooting at the 3" spinner targets at 15 yards, so far so good.

Even though this is a refurbished gun, it came looking like it was brand new. The scope and rings look new too, even though I haven't put them on yet. Was looking to get this at the local store for a long time, but I'm glad I waited.
ProsPlastic stock is well made Easy to site in (iron sites) Hard hitting
ConsHas a loud Twang from the springs So far, it's hold sensitive

Good for plinking
January 2, 2012
I got this gun in August of 2010 and i still shoot it regularly when ever i have time. I love Rugers design and recently i bought another Ruger that i like more than this. This gun has problems for me with the rail. each time i put the scope on the dovetail it just comes off as im shooting it. With the adjustable rail sight, it is hard for me to get shots longer than 50 or so yards.
Prosit has some serious knock down power!! very fun
Consthe scope does not stay attached to the dovetail Defective scope

Great pellet slinger, awful scope
June 18, 2011
The rifle is awesome. sights are easy to adjust and zero. The scope that came with it however, sucks. Tried attaching it to the rifle and a few shots later, the scope would pop off. Crappy mounting setup. Nice rifle, crappy scope

Wow. Great Rifle. Great Buy.
June 17, 2011
My first pellet rifle in 50yrs purchased for Grackle control. Well balanced, high quality feel, and high performance. Could not detect any detail of refurbishing.
Really like the composite stock which I believe is critical to the nice balance, and definitely powerful.
Grackles 1, tt 4 with open sights.
Paypal. Shipped quickly. Tracking info. What could be easier.

Very satisfied
June 16, 2011
the gun was out of stock when i made the order, it took a phone call to find this out. but i still had it in one week from ordering. So im satisfied with that aspect.

The gun itself is very impressive, right out of the box i was able to pick off a couple pigeons from 70 feet away with the open site, no adjustments needed.

sweet deal, especially for refurbished.

Great Rifle for a Great Price
April 17, 2011
Excellent for a refurbished rifle. Open Sights are easily adjustable and work great. The scope takes some time to zero, however, I am putting 1/2 groupings at 25 yards dead on target. with flat head pellets, I can't wait to see what this thing can do with superdomes! Excellent power, and a slight kick. All in all a great gun to plink wth or keep nasty critters out of the garden!

Overall Great Rifle
April 11, 2011
After owning this refurbished rifle for several months my opinion has not changed much. I have shot a variety of pellets including Gammo Red Fire. The fiber optic sites are awsome. I prefer to shoot open site. My only problem was I had to put Loctite on the screw holding the rear site on as well as all the other screws. One day the gun literally fell apart in my hands after shooting about 30 rounds. It was an easy fix and I highly recommend this rifle.

Best value for the money. Get this refurbished air rifle. This air rifle is incredible in accuracy and in power. Excellent trigger. Initially I thought that the plastic stock would make the gun looks like a toy gun. On the contrary, the plastic stock is pretty tough material and provides excellent balance to the rifle during shooting. The shooting characteristic is very similar to the Ruger Airhawk which has a wooden stock. Because of the plastic stock in Blackhawk, you will feel a little more recoil, which may be good if you want a little challenge.

Refurbished? wow....This rifle shoots better than my old one that was purchased new! Hard hitter. It shot tight groups at 75yds with Crosman Premier hollow points. I thought my previous gun purchase was fun, but the Ruger on a scale of 1 to 10 is a 20! Its hefty, well designed and well worth the price, even considering the extra cost of shipping outside the continental 48.
Sites are accurate and easy to adjust. I'm learning a lot about shooting with the scope. Excellent addition to my collection. Good on ya mates!

I have had this airgun for 2 weeks now, put about 200 rounds through it. Great value for the refurbished asking price! Packs a wallup for sure! Hard hitting, easily reaches the 1000 fps claimed. I like to target shoot, and with gamo wad cutters this rifle punches a perferct circle nearly every time. I'll say it again, great value for the price!

Ruger Blackhawk
July 13, 2010
Got the gun last week and took it out this past weekend. Took some CORBON cleaner to the barrel and last patch out was clean. I shot the BSA elite, Crossman destroyer, Crossman premier hollow point, Gamo Magnum pellets, sighting the open sights. The gun was most accurrate with the BSA elite pellet. Now the scope. I dont care for the low mounts due to the front sight showing up in the scope which kinda throws off my concentration. So I put some high mounts on the gun first. Then I put the scope into the mounts. It was a cinch getting it all lined up. The gun grouped really well with the BSA elites. One thing I do to insure a tight fit on the mounts to a gun is change out the galvanized bolts for stainless steel ones. This keeps all tight without the worry of breaking or stripping the bolt. Much more accurate with the forearm hand just in front of the trigger guard...anywhere else and I had the ole "where did that one go" ? First time out with a remanufactured gun I wasnt too sure if it was going to be up to par. Now that I got to try it out I have to say THANK YOU FOR THE SAVINGS. I also took it hunting and what an easy gun to shoulder and fire. No problems hunting.

Ruger's extermenator
June 28, 2010
This gun Is amasing! In the last month I've killed three redsquirrels, and eight chipmunks. If this gun misses its mark, it is usually the shooter's fault. Every chipmunk and red squirrel I shot was a bloody but clean and not ripped apart shot. It's perfect for any thing up to a small deer. People say spring powered airguns are a pain and they aren't powerful. If you think that, buy it your self and see. You won't be dissapointed! There are only three disadvantages. One is that the front optic will fall off if you accidently knock it off of something. Another disadvantageis that the scope doesn't stay on the gun very well and it's not the easiest to sight in. And the final disadvantage is that the spring hits hard when you fire. And that can cause the screws to lousen up. However all you have to do is take five seconds to tighten them up. I'm only 11 and yet this gun is good in my hands. The farthest thing I've hit is a wagon, a two liter coke bottle and a board at 175 yards. It is probably capable of killing a person so be careful when you shoot this gun. I also was able to hit a hornet's nest at 125 yards and just about hit a fishercat at 143 yards. However it was 8:30pm and it was dark. But it was a fisher cat. This gun can take the worst pellets on the market and make them perform like a high performance hunting pellet. I also shot a bullfrog with it and it blew him up. I highly recommend it and you need to get it if you're interested in a good gun. It's not much and it's a good bargain and not a wallet cleaner.

and sighted in. solid value !
