Semi-auto BB guns are a ton of fun. It’s not surprising that there are so many on the market and that so many manufacturers continue to create new offerings for airgun consumers. With so many options, we wanted to draw some attention to some of our favorite models. Our choices are not presented in a specific order, they are just airguns that are loved by our customers and have a great track record. Let’s get started.
Umarex Legends MP40
Umarex has a line of semi-automatic co2-powered BB airguns called “Legends.” The Legend line includes old-school military and historic airguns that are sure to put a smile on your face. The Umarex Legends MP40 is one of the most popular models and looks like a real MP40. This full-metal replica sports a 52-round magazine, dual co2 power, select fire for semi-auto and full-auto operation, folding stock, and a rear sight adjustable for elevation. That’s a ton of great features and some of the reasons the MP40 is so popular. However, The main reason is that it’s so darn fun to shoot.
Like the MP40, the Crosman AK1 is a full-metal replica BB rifle. It shares many of the same features like select fire, metal magazine, and a dual co2 power plant. The AK1 is modeled from the Eastern Block AK form factor vs. the more traditional and, some say, over-saturated AR style. It’s a heavy airgun which certainly adds to the realism. It has a 28-round magazine and has a 1400 rounds per minute maximum fire rate. Other features are a pic rail for optics, a fully adjustable rear sight, and an adjustable folding rear stock. Like the MP40, this thing will put a big smile on your face.
Umarex Legends M1A1 BB Rifle
The Legends M1A1 select-fire BB rifle has an undeniable profile and is a dead ringer for the “Chicago Typewriter.” It’s an all-metal replica that just feels awesome in the hand. It has a 30-round magazine with an incorporated dual co2 power plant, open bolt blowback action, and fixed front and rear sights. Having spent some hours with this gun, we can say for a certainty that it not only looks amazing, but it also performs like a champ. If you like old-school, then take a look at the M1A1 from Umarex.
H&K MP5 K-PDW BB Submachine Gun
It seems we are alternating between old-school and modern, so we need to talk about a modern offering now, and the H & K MP5 K-PDW BB Submachine Gun is an excellent choice. The MP5 uses a single co2 cartridge, a 40-round magazine and has the same recoil action as the firearm. It also incorporates a lightweight composite frame, folding stock, fixed front sight, and adjustable rear sight. The action is semi-auto only and is a joy to shoot.
Crosman DPMS SBR
Our final model is the Crosman DPMS SBR. This AR-style Short Barreled Rifle has been extremely popular, and for good reasons. The tactical short barrel combined with your typical AR features like an AR grip, 6-position adjustable buttstock, select fire between semi and full auto, quad rail forearm, and flip-up open sights make the rifle something for every AR enthusiast. The dual co2 power plant keeps the good times rolling, delivering decent shot count and power. It’s hard to convey just how realistic this gun feels in the hand. If you ever get the chance to shoot one, don’t pass it up. It’s a blast.
We’ve only scratched the surface on semi-automatic BB guns. For example, we only gave you BB rifles and didn’t even touch BB pistols. Maybe we can circle back around for that with another article. If you have questions about which semi-automatic BB rifle may be the best for you, just give us a call. We’ll be happy to help.
