Lasted one week.

I took it all apart to see if I could change the gasket but crosman puts it in a place I can't access.
Currently in pieces on my work bench, no point in adding a photo

Pros
First ten shots were nice

Cons
The pump grinds and wears fast. The stock will break if holding while pumping Added oil, which made it extremely difficult to pump. The metal shavings were able to get into the working parts. Exploded with only 5 pumps. The gasket blew which created oil vapors to dump out of it like a smoke bomb.

Well, I'll start with the good. Once a decent scope is installed, it will shoot 1/2" groups at 15 yards with 7.9gr crosman hollow points. Now the bad. The trigger is absolutely terrible straight out of the box. When I first shot the gun, I thought it was broken because I kept pulling back the trigger and it wouldn't shoot. Finally, I got frustrated, jerked it back, and it shot. I immediately took it apart and did a trigger job. Needless to say, that definitely helped. Second; when you pull out the forearm of the gun to pump it, it makes a terrible scratching noise. This is because the arms that connect the barrel / air tank with the gun are a little too wide. After about 100 pumps, it caused little metal shavings to be everywhere on the bottom of the barrel. A little sanding on the arms did the trick. Also, straight out of the box, it's full of metal shavings and packing grease. In conclusion, this is a great budget project gun. Anyone willing to put in some work will get a great gun.

Pros
Pretty accurate for the price

Cons
Trigger is terrible, full of packing grease and metal shavings, hard to pump for a younger shooter

This is a very good entry-level air rifle, comparable to other better variable pumpers. If price is a major factor, I'd recommend the Daisy 880, although the Crosman arguably has an overall better build quality. I prefer the Winchester 1977xs to the Crosman Legacy 1000, but they're very close to each other in quality and performance.

Pros
Good build quality (almost entirely synthetic materials). Lightweight and handles very well. Good accuracy. Low price. Excellent entry-level air rifle. This is essentially the same rifle as the Remington Airmaster 77 and Crosman 2100, although the latter has mostly metal components. The Crosman Legacy 1000 is comparable in performance to the Remington 77, Crosman 2100, Daisy 880, Daisy 901 and the Winchester 1977xs.

Cons
For no reason I was able to determine, charging the Legacy 1000 is more difficult than it is with comparable variable pump pneumatic air rifles. The Legacy 1000 pumps to 12 iterations, but provides no notable improvement in performance over comparable air rifles that pump to 10. In my testing of penetration into sheets of cardboard using wadcutter pellets, rounds at low, medium and full pumps from the Legacy 1000 and Daisy 5880 were almost equal in sheets penetrated, but the Winchester 1977xs outperformed the Legacy by a good bit at medium and full power. The fiber optic sights on this rifle allowed me to shoot with accuracy at 25' and the adjustable rear sight is functional, but it's not as nice as the adjustable rear sight on some competitors. I prefer the sights on my other variable pump air rifles (Daisy 880, Winchester 77xs) to those on the Crosman Legacy 1000.

This one is for adults and EXPERIENCED teen shooters who have shot alot.

Pros
Sleek design. Feels sturdy. Shoots golden flights thru 3/4" plywood easily with 12 pumps.

Cons
Make it easier to pump!

Accuracy is good enough for headshots on pigeons up to 30 yards maybe more with better pellets

Pros
I was surprised when I opened the box and looked at the pump piston, it’s a one piece machined aluminum piston rod. This allows much higher pressure potential, and better efficiency. Gets harder to pump past 8, which is good because that means it’s building some serious pressure. Bolt is hard to cock due to a heavier hammer spring, so maybe not for smaller framed persons. At 15 pumps shoots seriously hard and still has no leftover air in chamber. Great inexpensive small pesting rifle.

Cons
Was put off by the plastic receiver at first, but seems durable enough. Cheap scope not worth trying to mount to rifle.

Beside that it seems like a pretty powerful airgun

Pros
Shoots pretty hard. Easy to use

Cons
The scope does not mount right. I may have to tape the scope on. The scope slides all over the place.

Remember to leave it stored with one pump of air. It required a different lubrication than other rifles. It's accurate. It's fun to shoot in the backyard The velocity is pretty fast.

Pros
It takes up to 12 pumps if air compared to other guns that take up to ten pumps. It's fps is close to 1000 fps.

Cons
It's a variable pump so it needs to be pumped each time you shoot it.

David from USA

There is a sliding cover in the receiver.

Mark from USA

how to use the BB

Mark from USA

Would this be a good rifle for getting rid of red squirrels within 20 yard range? BB or pellet?

asked Bob

What's the difference between a Legacy and 2100. They look like the same gun.

asked Tobey P

The Legacy 1000 claims to have a higher FPS when pumped to it's maximum...12 pumps.

David from USA

How do I load pellets into the rifle?

asked KEVIN SMITH

One at a time. Make sure there are no BBs in the magazine, it's ok to keep them in the reservoir just not in the spring loaded magazine. Pump it up, pull the bolt back to cock the gun, lay your. 177 pellet in the breach, close the bolt and fire. Great fun!

David from USA

Hello, I have a gopher problem. How do you load the model 1000 Winchester Air Rifle?
