As an amateur I didn't know what to expect, but once I learned a few things about scope adjustments and how to hold a rifle, I promise you I could not miss by intended target with this gun. I love things that feel substantial and actually perform as advertise, this rifle performs beautifully.
Very accurate at the distances I shoot which is 20 to 30 yards. Handles very well. Great velocity using premium pellets.
Slightly loud in a close neighborhood setting, but not too so.

initial impression
August 29, 2014
so far i have just unboxed the rifle and mounted the scope, fired a couple of shots after cleaning the barrel and am very impressed so far.
feels like a rifle not a toy...compared to the gamo whisper...well there is no comparison, the gamo is garbage all around....after firing 10 shots the nitro venom is actually quieter than the whisper (spring gun) does not vibrate much at all and is a lot more comfortable to hold and shoot, loading the rifle is also easier as you don't have to force the pellet into the barrel thus saving your finger tips! also the first 10 shots grouped better than both whispers i have had even after they were broke in with over 1000 shots (both with new bsa scopes mounted)....once the new scope comes in and it stops raining i will do some shooting...the venom is such a nice rifle i just can't stop holding/looking at it.(nothing wrong with the scope except is it not an AO scope)
the only thing i can think of right now is that the scope does not have adjustable objective ,which is a must if you are a serious airgunner.....plenty of .22 long rifle guys will snap at the chance to get this scope for $25-30 so it's no problem really, got a hawke 2-7 on order then i will do some accuracy testing.

Great Gun
May 20, 2014
Great Gun for starters and really any experience level. Still breaking in barrel trying different ammo so cant comment on the accuracy at this point, but I have killed 2 squirrels already with it. It is a little louder than I had hoped.
Powerful gun. Great feel and fairly nice scope.
Little louder than I expected, not great for suburban setting.

Quality Air Rifle
April 25, 2014
The Crosman Nitro Venom has the heft and feel of a high powered rifle. It appear to be quite accurate. I had the scope zeroed in a approximately 20 shots or so. However, the gun is hard to cock and you better have some muscle power when you do a lot of shooting. The trigger pull is a little excessive but nothing I can't live with. The fit and finish on my gun was excellent. I would definitely recommend this gun to any air rifle user.
accurate quality air rifle good finish on stock less noise and recoil
trigger pull excessive hard to cock

Great rifle for the price!
April 6, 2014
Shipping was quick and no damage. Scope was near perfect right out of the box. After dozen shots, I had it zeroed in and very accurate. This is my first pellet gun and the quality feels great. It's on the heavy side but has a solid feel. Quiet but has a slight unexpected kick for A pellet gun.
Quality of build and scope. Very accurate. Worth the package deal.
If any, would be the weight, but not complaining. No issues with the scope.

What great re-entry rifle.
March 24, 2014
I just reentered the shooting sports and decided to go with a name I had gotten excellent results from in the distant past. It arrived nicely boxed and it was immediately apparent that it was no toy and had a good strong heft. After reading the meager instructions and cleaning the bore I began shooting to determine which pellets it liked the best. I had already gotten a couple of 12 pellet sampler packs from Alliance and found the PBA pellets to be super fast and had a great and resounding crack, but the accuracy also suffered from the excess speed. I finally got to the mid and upper range pellets by weight and the gun seemed to like the heavier pellets the best. I don't have a Chrono but it penetrated 6 boxes of tightly bound and stacked broken down cardboard boxes, which is about 2 inches deep/ For reference my Raider will do about double that on a fresh fill. But the depth and deformation of the hollow points were excellent too. Once I got the included scope zeroed and adjusted it will shoot very accurately as long as you do your part too. The wood and finish were flawless and the wood was a nice light brown and relatively shiny to start with. A couple of coats of Johnsons paste wax will do nicely to bring out the grain and bring more definition to the stock. Over all as a rifle I chose to re-enter air gunning it has managed to satisfy my itchy trigger finger enough to convince me to ultimately buy 2 more rifle in less than 2 months. I got an Umarex Octane in .22 and a Webley Raider in .177. All I can see adding to my stable now is a shoe box compressor and a disco and .25 M-rod. That way I have plinking, pleasure shooting and hunting covered with sufficient power to humanely take what ever I shoot at.
Great stock color. The included moderator on the end of the barrel is a great looking piece which really adds a lot to the overall look of this rifle. Nicely balanced and reasonably weighted to allow fast field handling. Not too loud even when popping PBA down range to hear that crack. Large picatiny/Weaver rail to mount the scope. Included scope is not too bad and is adjustable too.
None that I could find.

I would highly recommend the Nitro Venom to anyone
February 14, 2014
This airgun truly reflects the attributes claimed in ads about nitro piston guns. It is smooth cocking, lower recoil and I can state with absolute veracity that it is quiet. I would prefer it to many over rated foreign made products

.177 nitro venom
December 22, 2013
Received this from Airgun Depot in very fast turn around time. The first 2-two dry patches I drug through the bore with an "Otis"cable and dry "Sinclair" patch brought horror to my mind. I was sure there was more powder fouling than my match pistol and rifle combined. I followed this with a wet bronze brush and was appalled with the "Rust", "Brown", that came out with the next dry patch. After 20 more patches I gave up and mounted the supplied scope. After torquing the base and rings to 30 lbs, 15 lbs, respectively.I proceeded to put some Crosman ammo down the bore. Much to my surprise, the trigger, though long, was smooth and steady. The groups were down 11/8" right 5/8".Holy crap this was going to be a shooter. With 80 shots so far it has quieted down, and the hits are still right there and tightening up. I am waiting on a new trigger from EBAY to get rid of the "excessively" long pull, and make this an extreme pest eliminator.
Nice wood, Right handed stock, quiet, accurate, comes with a usable scope.
Rusty bore, long trigger pull.

this airgun has a lot of problem.

I am looking to return the entire rifle. I try to use it, but I can't. this product give me too much trouble. the scope lens is really blurred. I aim it to target, but it shoot 10 inches above the target. The elevation is not adjustable. I sent it to crosman, they sent the replacement with same problem. I totally don't want it.

Accurate, quiet, and deadly
May 1, 2013
I just bought this rifle and have just started breaking it in. As other reviewers (and the owners' manual, to be fair) have said, it takes a little break-in before this rifle is accurate. Out of the box I was getting shots all over a 8.5 x 11 paper target, but by the time I'd shot 50 or 60 rounds I was getting 3/4" groups and smaller at 20 yards using Crosman Destroyer 7.9 grain pellets. I think it's quieting down too, but I'm not sure about that part yet. It's already far quieter than my friend's spring-piston Diana, and has lower cocking force. I'm not sure why people are complaining about the bundled scope. I find it bright, sharp and consistent at roughly an 8x setting, with which a headshot on a squirrel at 20 yards is almost a can't-miss proposition ... and squirrels shot in the head with Destroyers don't move far or for long! Out of the box the rifle did have a little rust at the breech and around the place where the breech mates to the pressure chamber. Seems like a little oil before they packed it could've solved that problem, but a little oil here cleaned it right up. It did mean the rifle was extremely difficult to break the first time ... like I was almost ready to call tech support till I read in the manual that a sharp blow down on the muzzle (at right angles to the barrel) opens it right up. The only real negative on this rifle is the trigger. While smooth, it feels like I have to pull it half a mile before the gun fires. The adjustment screw is completely worthless. I'll get used to it eventually. But that is the only negative in an otherwise excellent piece.
Accurate, quiet, nice scope. Solid feel. Very effective on small rodents.
Trigger pull is entirely too long.

Very Happy with Nitro Venom
April 12, 2013
I have had this rifle for 4 months now and I love it. My first few shots scared me because it was so loud, but it quickly quieted down after a dozen shots or so. It is accurate and fun to use. My 13 year old daughter has no problems using this rifle either.

Crosman Nitro Venom
October 24, 2012
My first air rifle so I can only compare it with my other rifles or an old Daisy springer BB gun. For this price range its fine. I am still testing the accuracy - but was really surprised to put it on the paper at 50" 100 YARDS! (though that is obviously not it's intended use). It is manufactured in China and quality control shipped it with a stripped screw in the butt pad which I fixed w/glue and toothpicks.
Price point - I am an occasional plinker. It suits my needs.
Weight and thickness of stock. Overkill?

im loooking for a gun thats powerful and cheap. would this gun be good?
By Rob from CHalfont, PA on January 7, 2012

I just purchased this gun for my son, and found it to be a great piece. The high velocity and good scope make it great for target shooting, small game, etc. The 1,200 fps muzzle velocity makes it a better candidate for longer distances. Real nice feel in your hands..
By Drew from Connecticut on January 7, 2012

I'm very happy with my nitro crossman its very powerful and quiet. Friends that have used it are upset they didn't get the same one as me. The scope and scope mount are allso very nice you won't be disappointed.
By Carter from Washington on February 14, 2012

Yes this would be good, but if you want more power, get the .22 version of this.

By K. Mere from Botswana on January 15, 2012
An interested in the above product and understand you are an owner. Is this really the real deal. How far is the effective range on a target like a goose.

K. Mere
By Carter from Washington on February 14, 2012

It has some power, but I wouldn't take a goose (providing it's legal), with this over 20yds.....head shot only.
