The Ruger Blackhawk is a spring piston single stroke break barrel air rifle with an all-weather composite black stock. This Ruger Air Rifle's stock is ambidextrous (for both left- and right-handers) and has checkered grip areas in both the pistol grip and forearm. The Blackhawk rifle shoots pellets out of its rifled barrel at 1000 fps. Accuracy is a breeze with its fiber optic sights or with the use of the included 4x32 airgun scope. Adding to the Black Hawk Rifle's ruggedness is its blued metal finish and rubber recoil pad.

Why bother?
September 1, 2015
I have owned 4 of these. The first one was very accurate but the piston seal tore in under 500 shots. The second one had a loose barrel pivot bolt and I stripped the threads out when I tried to tighten it (inferior quality metal). It never was accurate. Number 3 was not accurate and broke after about 1000 shots. Number 4 is accurate but I have only fired it about 50 shots . I bought a RWS 34P refurbished from Airgun Depot for around $130 it's 10x the gun the Blackhawk is, so why bother? it's a waste of time and money as well as being very fustrating.
Looks like a RWS 34P.
It is not a RWS 34P.

gave it as a gift!

I had rifle sent directly to my 78 yr old uncle. It thrilled him, he said that he always wanted one, but could never free up the money...nothing I've ever gave him made him as happy as this rifle did!!!
great quality!
I have none...

I bought two of these. They were refurbs without scopes. I mounted scopes on mine, and they are surprisingly accurate. The fit and finish are superb. Accuracy is about 1 inch at 25 yards with ordinary pellets. I have shot ten different kinds of pellets through these guns, and they all shoot pretty well. Triggers are not bad. Better than expected. This is a well executed copy of RWS 34. Even at full price this is a great value. I enjoy shooting at old soda cans filled with water. These guns tear them up!
Elegant, nicely designed rifle. Accurate and powerful. Trigger is good and adjustable. Affordable. Fun, fun to shoot. The open sights work great, and were zeroed right out of the box.
The barrels droop. I had to shim one of my scopes to compensate and I got a droop compensating mount for the other. I believe this a common trait of break barrel spring guns, so I'm giving five stars anyway. Not a deal breaker.

Great Gun
April 16, 2014
I've had this gun for almost a year and it's power and accuracy hasn't disappointed me yet! This gun kills groundhogs from 50 yards on the first shot! Uses any kind of ammo and it's easy to use for a typical teenage boy to a grown man! Only complaint is that the scope that comes with it is garbage buy a new one with this gun!
Powerful and easy to use
Bad scope

Worth twice the price

Very accurate. Super Ruger quality and great price. Toss the free scope and put a Simmons 4x32 Mag 22 on it for 20 cent size groups at 25 yds.
Accurate, nice trigger

Great value for medium budget
November 20, 2013
I plan on geting this for my little brother this Christmas. My friend has one and I have the big brother to this one , the air mag .177. We both love our guns and have had to do plenty of upgrades. For example, we both pianted our stocks useing pine needles,Put RWS 4-12x50 illuminated milldot reticle scopes, and took open the open sights sights off because they could be seen in our scopes. Plus they look cool with the muzzle muzzle breaks we put on them. And after putting nearly $600 into them we finaly got them driving tacks at 100yds. We plan on doing the same stuff to his. So to some it up you dont need all those upgrades if you plan on shooting under 50yds. And I definitely love the power accuracy price ratio. All ruger airguns are great but need stuff done to them in order to get good groups outside 50yds.
Good price power accuracy value
Need some money to get accurate groups outside 50yds

Best gun for the money.

This rifle is very powerful and it hits it's mark very hard. It is a great gun if you're on a budget. Just use Gamo PBA pellets, and you've got a masterpiece. I recommend this gun.
The gun feels good in your hands and can take a turkey down! The price can't be beat. Handles any .177 pellet very well while other guns require certain ammo.
You have to tighten the screws up every 150-200 shots or the thing will recoil itself apart.

Good for plinking
January 2, 2012
I got this gun in August of 2010 and i still shoot it regularly when ever i have time. I love Rugers design and recently i bought another Ruger that i like more than this. This gun has problems for me with the rail. each time i put the scope on the dovetail it just comes off as im shooting it. With the adjustable rail sight, it is hard for me to get shots longer than 50 or so yards.
it has some serious knock down power!! very fun
the scope does not stay attached to the dovetail Defective scope

Great for small game
September 12, 2011
Well balanced excellent rifle for the bucks. Previous reviews I've read stated the scope attachment had a tendency to come loose. I haven't found that to be a problem at all.

Price is right. Packs a punch. Sights are delicate but accurate. Excellent value for cost-effective plinking and small game targeting.

Ruger's extermenator

This gun Is amasing! In the last month I've killed three redsquirrels, and eight chipmunks. If this gun misses its mark, it is usually the shooter's fault. Every chipmunk and red squirrel I shot was a bloody but clean and not ripped apart shot. It's perfect for any thing up to a small deer. People say spring powered airguns are a pain and they aren't powerful. If you think that, buy it your self and see. You won't be dissapointed! There are only three disadvantages. One is that the front optic will fall off if you accidently knock it off of something. Another disadvantageis that the scope doesn't stay on the gun very well and it's not the easiest to sight in. And the final disadvantage is that the spring hits hard when you fire. And that can cause the screws to lousen up. However all you have to do is take five seconds to tighten them up. I'm only 11 and yet this gun is good in my hands. The farthest thing I've hit is a wagon, a two liter coke bottle and a board at 175 yards. It is probably capable of killing a person so be careful when you shoot this gun. I also was able to hit a hornet's nest at 125 yards and just about hit a fishercat at 143 yards. However it was 8:30pm and it was dark. But it was a fisher cat. This gun can take the worst pellets on the market and make them perform like a high performance hunting pellet. I also shot a bullfrog with it and it blew him up. I highly recommend it and you need to get it if you're interested in a good gun. It's not much and it's a good bargain and not a wallet cleaner.

We can't cock the gun what is wrong? I just bought it and tried with safety on and safety off. Can't get it to move and don't understand.

I'm sorry your are having trouble with the gun.

Often times guns are difficult to break/cock for the first time. Here is the easiest way break the barrel properly.

Sit down and place the gun across your lap. With the barrel overhanging, hit the barrel near the front sight with the palm of your hand and it should open up.

Please let us know if you still can't cock your rifle.
