Holiday Gift Ideas

It’s that time of year again, folks!  It’s time for us to find those perfect gifts for the guys and gals who love to get out and shoot their airguns.  While a new airgun is ALWAYS a great idea (and we’ll give you some options!), maybe there are some other items to help shooters enjoy the great outdoors and airgunning.   Let’s see what we can dig up!

Stocking Stuffers

Pellets, pellets, and more pellets! Pellets are great stocking stuffers because they come in small tins and are relatively affordable.  If you know the best pellet for your airgun, then stock up and take advantage of the holiday sales and savings.  But if you are new to the sport, consider the various sample ammo packs from JSB, H&N, and Zan.  Having an assortment of these pellet and slug sampler packs means that you can test to see which ammo delivers the best results without having to buy full tins of each option.   Just look at our .22 cal sample packs, you could easily compile a selection of 40+ pellets for testing and do so at just a fraction of the price of getting full tins.

If you are all set with pellets, then consider other items like additional magazines, scope mounts, levels, bipods, etc.  You get the idea.  There are tons of great options to keep your airgunner shooting and having fun.

Cold Weather Airguns

If you are in the northern hemisphere and it’s Christmas time, then you may be looking for a warm place to shoot.  But if you only have the option to shoot out in the cold, let’s look at some great airguns that can get the job done.

Any gas piston-powered airgun should perform well in cold weather.  Some of our top choices would be the Gamo Swarm line of airguns.  They start with the Maxxim, which is a great lightweight, easy to cock option.  Next, there’s the Gamo Swarm Bone Collector, which is a bit more powerful but still easy to cock and relatively compact.  Lastly, there’s the Gamo Swarm Magnum, which pushes up to 30+ foot-pounds in .22 caliber.  It’s harder to cock, but boy is it fun to shoot and use for taking small game.   What all the Gamo Swarm guns have in common is their multi-shot pellet magazine.  The gun is fed by a 10-shot magazine which loads a pellet each time the gun is cocked.  It’s an awesome system.

Gamo is not the only maker of gas ram-powered airguns, so please check out the other options from Crosman, Benjamin, Hatsan, Umarex, RWS, and more.

If break barrels are not your thing, you are in luck because any PCP should deliver excellent cold-weather results. And for those that want the power of a PCP with the convenience of CO2, then the Umarex Komplete is the way to go. The replaceable nitrogen cartridge delivers excellent power even in cold weather.

Inside Shooters

What do you do when it’s just too cold to shoot outside?  Well, if you have the room, you can shoot inside!  Safety is always critical and that priority becomes more acute when you are making an indoor shooting range in your home or office.  We used to have a 10-meter range in our boat bay through the garage.  It was really important to make sure that folks knew we were shooting so no one entered the range unexpectedly.

Pellet traps are going to be your best friend for indoor ranges.  Our silent pellet trap not only keeps things super quiet, but it also traps your lead pellets or steel bbs, preventing lead dust and other harmful environmental effects.  You really don’t want to be breathing lead dust that’s easily generated from a traditional steel trap.

And if you need something to shoot, consider any of our CO2 airguns (if your inside temps are stable and warm enough), pump pneumatic airguns, or low powered target rifles.   We have a lot to offer folks who plan on shooting indoors during the holidays.

Shooting Games

Our Target & Traps section on our site is full of great options for folks looking to level up their backyard shooting range.  We have steel targets, knock-down targets, EXPLODING targets, game targets, reactive paper targets, and a whole lot more. And we don’t just have targets for low-powered airguns.  We also have targets that can take big bore hits and keep right on running.   The only limitation to what you could do for a backyard range is your imagination.
